OK, But Bar Turns During Use
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This bar would be great if not for one serious design issue: It turns when you’re using it. It installs by screwing/unscrewing the outer and inner bar sections, with the idea being, I suppose, that once it’s snugly in the door frame it won’t turn any more. it will continue turning no matter what, and in fact if you keep unscrewing it (making the bar wider) the sides of the doorframe can be literally be pried apart! Even if the frame doesn’t budge, the bar will still rotate because the round ends fit into round support caps, which allow the bar to turn freely with any amount of force. There’s no way to lock the bar from turning, regardless of which way you hold it during exercise. It’s always either tightening, loosening, or turning in place. Despite otherwise solid construction and comfortable grip, I can only give it 2 stars.

    Good pull-up bar
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a quality pull-up (or if you’re into less intensity workouts chin-up) bar. The main annoyance is adjusting the hand pads–it’s doable but quite difficult–and you probably won’t want the one on the non extendable side so close to the door side. Installation of the nubs to hold it in the doorway is not as bad.

Anyway once the prepretory work is done it’s a quite good piece of equipment. I grab the pads for narrow stanced pull-ups, while I hold on to the bar outside the pads for the wide stance. The latter can be difficult to hold onto, but I’m definetly not going to shift the pads back and fourth just to do different kinds of pull-ups. I can now do as many as 17 pull-ups without stopping, five more than I could when I first bought the bar.

    Great

The chin-up bar is perfect. You screw in the placeholders into the door frame, then tighten the bar to fit within the frame and it works great! I’m about 150 lbs. so it works really well for me, but I’d be cautious for a heavier person. But not an anti-recommendation for a heavier person, just be weary. But great bar overall, everything is adjustable and all you want in a pull up bar! Get it!

    Bad design
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The main problem with this bar is that only one end extends, which puts the hand grips toward one side and not in the middle, as with most chin-up bars. Otherwise, easy to install and durable.

    The grips can be repositioned…
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Got this for my son’s doorway. Works fine, easy to install. We pushed the grips closer together for him without a problem. If you turn the rod every so often to maintain tension as tightly as possible the bar doesn’t rotate while you’re hanging.

good, but wider than I’d hoped
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I was planning on putting this in my closet doorway (std new-home construction), but it was about an inch to wide. I had to talk my wife into allowing it in the bathroom double-doorway. Other than that, it’s well worth the money. If you’re tall, a standard doorway probably won’t be high enough though….

Easy to Install. Strong and sturdy. Grips are adjustable.
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
excellent chin up bar. I was going to buy the ones on television that you put over the door frame, but I changed my mind when I used it (belonged to my friend). This one is much sturdier and comes highly recommended.

Why the off center hand grips?
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Pretty cool. My 11 year old has it in his bedroom door. Takes my weight with no apparent problems too.

Only beef – what’s with the off center hand grips? You’re always positioned jammed up against one of the door jambs, which makes it hard to exercise comfortably.

    Great Bar
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This bar is reasonably priced and fits my needs perfectly. Nothing bad to say about it. I would recommend it to others, no reservations.

    Good for the price
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I’ll agree with the other reviewers that this thing is sturdy. I weigh 220 and it holds me with ease. I’ll also agree that the placing of the hand grips is bad. The bar extends in one direction, so you end up with a hand grip that is butted right up against the door frame. Yes, you can move the grips. But, 1.) it’s a pain, and 2.) your grip will become uneven because the extension pole is smaller in diameter than the stationary pole.

But, for the $$$, it works fine for me. I am planning on putting up a more permanent pullup bar (joist mounted) in my basement, so I won’t have to deal with the grip thing much longer.

Also works for metal frame doors
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this bar to use as part of the P90X workout. I didn’t realize that it was made to be screwed into a wood framed door. I live in an apartment complex with metal framed doors. However, because of the rubber ends on the bar I simply put up the bar without screwing in the supports to the door. I am 120lbs and it has held just fine thus far :) Additionally, the grips on the bar were too far apart and I was able to easily move one of the grips so that the distance between them was right for me. This is a great product at a great price!

    Convenient for home workouts.
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I like this bar, but it spins as I do my pull ups, regardless of which side I am hanging. I have adjusted it so tightly that I can hear the frame cracking. Otherwise, it’s a good purchase.

    Great gift
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My husband asked for a chin-up bar for Christmas so he was happy to get this. It has been great. He put it on the closet door and was exercising nightly for a while. He got results quickly. Even his family noticed a difference. It has been a quality product and takes up practicaly no space since it is above our heads and we can shut the door so we don’t have to see it.

    Solid
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Good chin up bar solid price is good. I buy it again.

    It has three problems:

1-It gets loosen if you do too many pull ups.

2-Half of the bar doesn’t have the same thickness.

3-I cannot use by holding from soft parts they are too close.

    good value
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This bar provides a good value for anyone with a sturdy door frame in which to hang it. The complaints about the grips being difficult to move are unfounded unless you are interested in moving them around repeatedly for different exercises. As it is, they are just difficult enough to move to not slide around when you are gripping them but easy enough to move once or twice until you get them into a comfortable position. This model has an advantage over the popular total gym model in that it doesn’t have to be positioned at the top of a door frame and can be fairly easily repositioned at hip or ankle height for different exercises.

This might not be true for people who need to screw it permanently into their doorway. I am about 160 lbs and did not need to do this.

    HAND GRIPS ARE ADJUSTABLE…..

FYI, You can move the hand grips to the position you want. Its not easy but it can be done. Its easier than my 3 sets of 10 pullups….

It’ll work but the screws included are trash
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I just finished installing this bar. Since it seems to fulfill its basic function, this is more of a warning to “buy it, but” rather than a “don’t buy it.”

I recommend to anyone who buys this bar that they not use the screws included with it to install the mounting brackets. I was being pretty careful but still managed to strip two of the screws and twist the heads off of two others. They’re very cheaply made.

You’d figure Valeo would spend the extra 40 cents per unit and give you quality screws, huh? Well, not if they’d have to pass those 40 cents on to cheapskates like me who buy the cheapest thing they can find.

    Works great for me!
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I received my order today and had it set up and tested in 15 minutes. (helps to have a screw gun). I weigh 205 and it has no problems supporting me.

I’m not sure what all the complaints about the grips are for. I was able to slide the grip over just fine by moving it back and forth. Didn’t take more than a minute or so to get it where I needed it.

The only downside to this product for me…I realized how out of shape I really was when trying to do a few reps. :)

Does what it says for the price. Expect no more, no less.
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I got this with another item for super saving shipping. I did not attach it to a doorframe, instead I attached it to the doorway leading to the hall in the house. I did not use the wall mounts because I did not want to drill holes in ma doorway. What you do is you twist it so it extends, then when it touches both sides of the wall, you hold the extended end and twist the middle part. You need help from another person though, because it keeps moving everywhere when you twist. I can do chin-ups and pull-ups from it w/o the wallmounts, but I only weigh 100lbs. A downside is that it leaves black marks on your walls.

Inexpensive option for pull ups at home
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Very happy with this purchase. Easy to install, simple to use.

It took about 5 minutes to install the bar. Feels solid. Grips are a bit difficult to move, but are movable to a desired location.
