5’ Olympic Bar is designed for balance and long lasting performance with a compact design small enough to fit in any home or gym. This bar offers a wide range of workouts from easy to complex. Medium depth diamond knurled surface and sleeves that swivel at the most delicate touch. This prohibits the bar from warping and reduces pressure on the wrists. more info

The bar does weight 30.
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This really gets me angry.
I saw the first review saying that it weighed 30 lbs. Thought maybe it could’ve been a simple mistake, and definitely thought it was a simple mistake after the seller (Big Fitness), said that it did in fact weigh 40 lbs.
THE BAR WEIGHS 30LBS.
I don’t know how the company which is SELLING this can’t even get a weight measurement right. I know most will say what’s the big deal, but it grinds my gears that the sellers went ahead and 5 starred their product after another review gave the TRUE weight.
It is a solid, well made bar, but it does weight 30 lbs, and the first guy to review is correct. I will be in contact with Big Fitness.

Wrong Weight!!

The bar is 6′ long but it only weighs 30lbs, please correct as it may really confuse people trying to get the right weights to go with the product.

nice barbell bar

The bar is very solid and has a good looking chrome finish. It takes olympic weight plates (2 inch diameter.) The shipping and packaging are good too. Overall , i have no complaint with this purchase. I would recommend this bar.

This bar weighs 32 LBS.

This is a completely re-written review as of August 2009.
Here is the history: after the December 2007 review saying that the weight was incorrect, we double-checked Cap Barbell’s website. It said that the Olympic 6′ bar weighed 40 LBS. We also contacted our rep at Cap. She confirmed that the bar does indeed weigh 40 LBS. We found one and weighed it ourselves. It came to a little under 40 LBS.

Fast forward to July 2009, and the most recent negative review. Cap Barbell’s website still says the same thing it did last time we looked. We contact our rep at Cap once again. They weigh the bar again, and find out that the most recent reviewer was right.
What happened in the last year, we’re not sure; perhaps Cap Barbell sourced the bar from a different factory. In any event, this bar now weighs 32 LBS. Cap Barbell will be updating its website shortly, and we will correct our description here on Amazon.com.
