Ab Lounge XL was a goog product. But beware mine came with most of the assembly bolts and nuts very loose. The main pivot hinge would be ruined if you use the Ab Lounge without tightening up the bolts and nuts. You will need a meteric allen wrench and meteric sockets to tighten up all the bolts as all the hardware is meteric.

Not a bad gadget when the day is said and done.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
First off: read the directions. As other reviewers have said, use a metric wrench set and ensure the bolts are tightened. And check for and re-tighten every month.
Set-up of this gadget is a snap. I got it done in 20 minutes.
But I must say; the two elastic bars underneath seem a tad cheap and, when the time comes, I hope replacements will be available at a fair cost.
Using it is very straightforward. As a guy with back problems, and having lived through neck surgery (I’ll spare the chiropractor rant), anything that tightens muscles and gets me to move, without playing with big weights is a plus. But it does have a 275 pound weight limit; of which I am astonished as, by its mere looks, it appears flimsy. (I weigh 210 right now…)
I have a bit of a belly. Using this device will merely tighten the ab muscles; the actual fat will remain until my metabolism is improved. Having used this device for a week, I can feel the “burn”. But the only way to get real results is to use it 30+ minutes every other day; eventually daily. (I am rotating this with an elliptical trainer too.) But it definitely does something along the lines of WHY it’s being sold, and is more than a fancy lounge chair with a funky name embroidered on the fabric.
When using this device, there was NO stress on my neck. And viewing angle to the TV was just perfect; nobody has the excuse of being a ‘couch potato’ anymore.
Definitely worth the try, but your mileage may vary depending on how often and how hard you use it. But it does what it claims and without the neck-wrenching agony of some of the lesser-priced gimmicks out there.

good for people who can’t do conventional crunches
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have cervical arthritis and a few disk bulges in my neck. In a very short time span, I went from being an exercise fanatic with a 6 pack any younger person would envy to not being able to exercise. Thanks to a good therapist and dr., I am on the road to exercising again. But, I have to be careful of anything that puts strain on my neck. I probably spent a good two months looking at different ab exercisers before finally deciding on the Ab Lounge XL. I admit, it was hard for me to buy this type of exercise equipment. I swore I’d never use anything like this when I could just do “real exercises” instead. After using mine for a month, I’m a satisfied convert. I had read some reviews in which exercisers said they weren’t getting as good of an ab workout as they’d hoped, or that the Ab Lounger was more for beginners. I realize I’m not in as good of shape as I was a year ago, so I might not be the best judge, but I can see my ab muscles shaping back up already. I’m a small person, so I like that I can flip the foot pedals up to do the exercises. And, for me, the exercises are plenty challenging. Would I recommend using the ab lounger as a sole form of exercise? Absolutely not. But, it works for the abs, which is what it is meant for. Mine makes some squeaking noises, despite my small frame, but it doesn’t seem to cause it any problems – and I did buy it used from the Amazon Marketplace. I say it’s worth a 5.

Works Great, but…
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This machine does exactly what it says it will do – strengthen your abs. It won’t make you skinny, but with the right diet and aerobic conditioning this machine is well worth the money. I just have one complaint – the grips are attached with a small screw through the rope into the frame. Good idea, but the washers are too small and the grips pulled away from the frame on the first day. I removed the bolts, placed larger washers on the bolts and then replaced them. Now, it’s good to go. I’ve had it a week and have over-zealously used it every day. I ready see results and feel the burn. Very glad I got this machine, and equally glad I knew to put washers on the bolts. BTW, this same machine sells for $280 on the ab-lounge web site, so a couple five cent washers are no big deal. One more comment, this company Liquidation Express is awesome – I received the machine a day and a half after ordering it express. No one likes to wait for such equipment and this company didn’t make me wait at all. Thanks L.E.

We bought this because of our need to protect our Necks while we exercise. It is good for this- i wasn’t to sure.
One of us has Arthritis and the other, an old injury..
If you have problems with pushing up your body weight-not very limber..??.- this machine will frustrate you. The seated position is not easy to get in or out of .You will have to have some strength to be able to use this .
The frame is sturdy and has a little bit of weight to it- so it isn’t really easy to carry from room to room -and does not fold flat- will need it’s own space.
Assembly was easy.
The price was certainly right, even after adding shipping. The price elsewhere is anywhere from $150 – $200.

My wife and I just purchased this in May 2007 at a great value and this machine is the most effective workout for the abs both of us have ever used! I am 5’7 and my wife is 5’3″ and this machine fits us both just right. In the first workout I only did 20 reps and could feel a burning sensation throughout my entire abdominal area. My wife agrees as well. If you want to lose inches around your waist this is the way to do it!!! On the second day I more than doubled my reps to 50 and could feel extreme burning throughout my abs. There is no stress to your back as in traditional crunches or situps so goodbye to traditional crunches and situps for me! The mesh netting is breathable and comfortable as well. The small clamp on computer works well and is a great way to keep count of calories burned, number of reps, etc………[...]. Highly recomended!

I just received this item and put it together. The one thing they don’t tell you in the instruction book; Make sure you tighten up ALL the bolts. There are 6 bolts on the bar that holds the tension bands. 4 of them are 9/16, the other 2 are 11/16. Make sure that they are tightened, but loose enough to still allow movement. The piece that I received had all 6 of those bolts loose enough to cause damage to the equipment if not tightened properly.

I gave this item 3 stars, because 2 of the DVDs that came with it wouldn’t play at all. One of the DVDs was actually a duplicate of the workout DVD, but should have been a CD Rom about nutritonal guidance. The little computer that counts your reps, time spent working out and calories burned is a piece of cheap plastic junk. The battery kept sliding out of position making this thing completely useless. As for the workout, I really did feel it the next day and for a few days after. Done correctly, it will give your abs a good workout, but the so called professional package is a joke.

I have been body building since i was around 15 years old. One of my major problems with working out was working my abs; i had two reasons for this, 1: I just simply hate doing situps, 2: I fell when i was a kid and have a slight neck and back problem, so sometimes when i dont warm up enough i end up with lower back pain after doing situps.
Anyways to the point; i always heard about and saw the ab lounge in friends homes since it came out and thought it was just another piece of junk excercise equipment. I went to our private island the other day and my dad has one out on our island lodge, i saw it sitting there and decided to give it a try once and for all and prove to myself its a useless machine; i crunched out 20 sets and i was so amazed that my abs was tingling and burning, i was left with my mouth open, i do situps almost every day with sit up bench (i will not use it anymore), i did another 4 sets of 20 on the ab lounge… i ordered my own today (my dad didnt want to give me his, lol).
My favourite thing about the ab lounge, it hits my lower abs, and i have tried extremely hard to hit that spot and i just cant seem to get it right…the ab lounge hits it dead on.

Ab Loung XL Review
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I found the AbLounge XL relatively simple to put together. I am someone who abhors the words “some assembly required” but the instructions were simple to follow. You really need to have a space where this can be utilized. Not good for cramped spaces or close quarters. I would keep pets and children away from this while it is in use. The dangers to small fingers and pet paws are obvious and there are numerous warnings and stickers posted to remind the adult user. I am a short person and the adjustable foot bar is easily adjusted to accomodate a taller user. It is a fun way to work out and I saw results in 10 days.

I tried 2 of these Ab Loungers in the store before ordering from Amazon. One was bright blue and made of different material(not mesh like the XL). It was not as comfortable as this one. I like the XL because it folds easily and I can really feel it work my abs. It has the resistance bands to work your upper body also. I particularly like that I can stretch out my back muscles by arching back when I am through with my ab workout… it feels great! I recommend this if you have room for it without having to fold and unfold it everytime you use it.

Ab Lounge XL (missing a lot)
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The Ab Lounge XL I recieved in the mail was missing a back frame piece, and replaced by a wrong piece. So putting it together, it ended up being crooked without the proper piece. Maybe that is why it had discounted price. The ad said was perfectly new.. but did not look that way. It was a gift, so I was afraid to ask to take it back. I would not recommend this persons future sales. What a hassle!! The only thing right was that it arrived in the time estimated. Who wants the hassle of shipping this bulky thing back?

My wife talked me into buying this. It is a sturdy piece of equipment. It may be a good alternative for individuals who can’t do traditional ab exercises due to back problems, deconditioning, etc. As a person who trains with free weights 2-3 times a week I never got a burn with this piece of equipment. Personally it hurt my back as I extended beyond horizontal. I used it 5-10 ten times and now it sits in the garage. I would suggest buying a good ab workout tape/dvd if you need exercise ideas and/or motivation. I think you will get a better workout and save a chunk of money at the same time.

Great piece of workout equipment. Much easier to do situps/crunches with this than it is alone on the floor. Easier on your back (mostly) as well.
I am a little over 6 feet tall, and was comfortable enough on the machine. I liked the way that it would let you bend backwards as far as you can stabd it. Makes stretching the back easy and not too painful.

I have used this product religiously for the last month. While it is still early, I see some progress. No question that it probably will work! However, the machine is rather bulky and failed to fit under my bed while folded up. Also, it feels kind of scary while using it. Its obvious that it isn’t build with the best materials. The hinges are squeeky during movement does not feel steady.

Ab Lounge XL
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The Ab Lounge does not move smoothly while exercising, the best word I can describe it as “clicky.” It is easier than sit-ups. My Ab Lounge came with a broken computer and I suspect it was a return as the battery was already in the computer and it came with instructions on how to add the battery. I did add washers as suggested in an earlier review and it is clear why it was suggested. The fabric band instead of a bar is not what I expected. I thought it would be easier to hold your arms there, but it feels tight and uncomfortable. Less than a month of having the product, the left pedal fell off and it is not made to easily put back on. To return the product (which I should of kept the box laying around my house) I have to pay for shipping and it is inconvenient to get it boxed and shipped. I would not buy this product again. I would not recommend this product to anyone unless they bought one from the store nearby which makes returning easy since the product is not made sturdy.

Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’ve had lower back and neck trouble since high school football days in 1980. I can not do conventional core exercises on the floor.
Enter the Ab Lounge. This is a wonderfully efficient piece of equipment, enabling the user to accomplish a truly vigorous core workout in very little time, and without stressing either the back OR neck. That’s the good news.
The bad news is this: after a few days of using mine, one of the hand straps tore away. We have ignored this, simply grasping the frame at its top instead of using the straps. After a year of regular use it is starting to exhibit signs of wear and instability, even after I tighten up all attachments. Commercial grade this is not.
Still, we don’t expect commercial quality equipment at this price point, and the Ab Lounge is a remarkable bit of engineering with reasonably high quality, especially at the price. It’s a good value.

I received the Ab Lounge for Christmas and started using it immediately. At first I could only do 10 crunches twice a day until my stomach was killing me! Now, I am up to 20 crunches. I just need to take it slowly so I don’t aggravate my back.
When I started using the machine on Dec. 26th I was wearing a size 16 jean with no hope of squeezing into my size 14. Well, today (January 26th) I was able to get those 14′s on!! Unbelievable!! You have no idea how long it has been since I have been able to put these on. So, I am going to continue doing my crunches twice daily and will see how things progress by the end of next month.
I also want to add that for women who are trying to work that area by the belly button…this machine hits that spot dead on!! After 3 kids, I have a poochy belly, but hopefully I will finally get that taken care of.
I highly recommend this machine!!

Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I was debating whether to buy the Ultra or XL since there is a 14″ difference in height and I am 5’3″ female, but the price offered by Liquidation Wizard on Amazon.com for the XL was too good to pass up. For years I have been unsuccessful at strengthening the abs because traditional crunches hurt my neck and back which I was also trying to strengthen. Since diabetes risk increases with abdominal fat, when I tried someone’s AB2 and found it easy to use, I decided to research the other versions and settled on the XL because of price. I couldn’t find the Ultra at a similar low price. I was amazed that I received the XL 3 days from the time I placed the order. Having read the other reviews on this site and others, it’s apparent quality can vary. The XL is made in China. My XL with the professional package came with probably everything that it was supposed to. There were two DVD’s both with Rosalie Brown, one the Interactive AB Blasting System, the other a Resistance Tubing Workout. The sheet mentioned only the Resistance Tubing workout and a firstpath.com CD-ROM, not 2 DVD’s. I think they revised their package since 2005 to include the 2 DVD’s instead of the CD-ROM, since the Blasting DVD has fitness and nutrition information on it.
It took me 60 minutes to unpack, assemble the XL, and clean up the packaging. I could have done it in 30 if I were more organized. The written directions were straight forward, however, it would have been easier if I looked at the 4-minute video section on the DVD first which showed how to put the XL together. I was impressed with the diet and nutritional booklets that came with the XL, although the DVD exercise routine using the XL was too vigorous for me to want to follow.
Assembly tips: (1) View the assembly procedure first which is on the Interactive AB Blasting System DVD. (2) Put white lithium grease or other lubricant on inside of pedal attachment before attaching pedal to main assembly so it slides in more easily to attach.
The XL is bigger and takes up more room than I anticipated so plan a space for it, because as another reviewer wrote, you won’t use it if you try to put it under your bed or in the closet. The computer clock is handy but works by movement and needs to be tilted if it doesn’t register at first. I had to tilt the clock away from me so I can’t see it as I exercise unless I stop. It’s handy, and a motivator, but not really necessary. A watch would do as well. I’m starting out with 5 minutes at a time several times a day and every other day. The XL does isolate the abs and you can feel them working.
My XL is not completely quiet, and that bothers me because I can hear the hinges each time the chair bends even though I’m 130 lbs and the XL is rated to 275 lbs. I’d like to be able to stop the noise since others have written their XLs are quiet. I believe the products are not all of a uniform quality. I rate this a 4 instead of a 5 because of the noise and the placement of the clock. For value received from Liquidation Wizard, the shipper, and Amazon.com it definitely rates a 5.

i have purchased dozens and dozens and dozens of items from amazon, but this is the first review i’ve writen. first off, kudos to moncresto. i ordered from him, and had the item very quickly and in perfect condition. kudos.
this thing sucks. truly. my brother has one of the older models and it operates very smoothly. this thing is clunky, jerky, crappy. the stretch bands for the arm workout — extra poor. i threw them away even before i started to try and use the actual machine. they stretch very easily for the first 8 inches, then stop. no middle ground on resistance. green light, red light — nothing in between.
the side arms never tighten enough to where you can’t move them with the slightest touch. i guess super glue would work but then you couldn’t slide it under the bed.
my wife is 5’4″ and thought this was over-sized for her.
on the upside, the mesh is better than the older models. if you’re large-hipped, there is plenty of room. i’m not, so this feels like a huge hammock slung up in old collapsible aluminum lawn chair.
i’m chunking this in the trash.
