Great workout!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love this workout! Although I’m not following a diet after 1 week I can tell that I am getting more muscle definiton!! I also had knee surgery 4 months back and didn’t think I was going to be able to complete some of the lunges, but I pushed through (although my surgeon would not be pleased) I think it is building muscle around my injured knee. I am still on level 1 getting ready to move to level 2…I highly recommend this, just be ready to work!

Best video I’ve ever done
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Let me start by saying I am about 85 pounds overweight. When I started this video, I was about 100 pounds overweight. I have lost 16 pounds since I started doing this video, along with eating much better and some other exercises. The video is short but a wonderful workout. I LOVE that there are really three different workouts and that each workout is divided into circuits. When I did this for the first time, I could barely get through it but I have stuck with it and I’m glad I did. I just ordered another of Jillian’s videos and hope it is as good as this one.

Good Workout — I’m Too Out of Shape for it

Twenty years ago I could have handled this workout. But now that I’m in my late 50′s, it proved to be too much too soon. I’m sure others will benefit from it. I need something that starts out slower. I’ve been away from the gym routine for 15 years — it was just too much for this old girl.

Quick, powerful workout

Wow, I really like this workout. There are three workout levels, each 20 minutes long. I’ve done level 1 a few times and tried level 2 once, and I just love how challenging they are. I’m not ready for level 3 yet, I’m sure. It feels like there isn’t a wasted moment, and it really gets me huffing and puffing and sweaty. I like that it incorporates weights to add strength to my arm/shoulder muscles. There’s nothing fancy here, and the moves are pretty intuitive. Oftentimes, I hop on the elliptical machine afterwords to keep the sweat going for another 20 minutes or so.

I bought this based on reviews here. And it met all of my expectations and more! It’s great that I can get a VERY INTENSE workout in 20 minutes. I don’t dread putting in this DVD everyday like I do my other workout DVDs. It goes by so fast, but still gives you a REALLY great workout! Even my husband, who weight trains on a daily basis, got his butt kicked when he tried level 3. And really enjoyed it! I watched all the 3 levels once through. It LOOKED easy enough, but once I actually tried it out, I realized just how intense it was! Highly recommend.

This DVD definitely kicks my butt more than most at home workouts. It doesn’t get boring because its always changing routines. You really feel the muscles Jillian wants you to work and while I don’t know if I will lose the 20 lbs she claims you can lose in 30 days I have lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks only doing this a couple times! Once I get more consistent I will update this review

Didn’t get the results I wanted
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This is a tough workout and Jillian is definitely not touchy-feely instructor. After the first day, I could barely move — and Level 3 could still kick my behind to the very end. That being said, I never did lose any weight in the 30 days. I am guessing that’s an issue more on my end — or I lost inches which I never measured. About two weeks into it, I had to start muting the sound because Jillian can be a little grating on the nerves. Still, I think this is a good workout DVD for the price.

Ive done the video for the past few days (level 1). I work out at the gym at least 4 days a week and just got the video to help stay in shape…I could hardly walk today. My legs hurt so bad I had to walk down the steps like I am 90 years old. It works SO well. Every time I felt like I HAD to stop Jillian would yell at me “If youre thinking of stopping DONT”! Everyone needs to buy this video.

Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred
Today I completed my day 2 workout. Its very hard to move and my muscles burn everytime I try to use them. I can say that Jillian is a very tough cookie and really works you to the bone! However, I feel so encouraged and jillian pushes you through each and every workout, giving you the willpower to overcome it and help you to create a new and improved “you”. I’m 19 years old and hated working out because it felt more like a chore rather than something fun and invigorating. I’d get bored very easily and made my workouts, literally once in a blue moon. But this DVD is really a butt kicker and although its tough at first, you’ll keep coming back everyday for more!

…. and loving the tape. Jillian does a good job of offering modifications for different levels. I have bad knees so I appreciated that. Although the actual workout is really only 18 minutes, she keeps you moving the entire time. I like that you do 3 circuits, I tend to get bored easily. Overall pretty good for an at home workout.

Wow. This video is intense! I’m very overweight and out of shape, so start my workout schedule with this video. I can definitely see and feel a difference just after a week with this video. My biggest problem is Jillian. I know she’s “tv’s toughest trainer” but she just gets so annoying. I can’t stand listening to her, she’s just not encouraging at all. I’m not asking for babying, but a little encouragement instead of belittling would be nice. But at the same token, she gets the job done! It’s a great video, a great workout and she knows what she’s doing. Now if she’d just stop talking.

Easy to follow, great workout
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Jillian Michaels delivered a great workout DVD with the 30 Day Shred program. I didn’t have any trouble picking up the moves like is common with other workout DVDs. There are three individual levels with this program and you are supposed to spend a few weeks on each level. Naturally, each level is a bit tougher than the one before. Jillian uses a combination of 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio, 1 minute of abs in each section, with three sections in each workout. Each workout begins and ends with a cool down. Even though the workouts are simple to follow you still get a great workout. After several weeks of doing the workouts I could really tell a difference in my strength and endurance levels. Jillian also provides good advice and encouragement throughout the workout.
Only suggestion is to make sure you’re committed to doing the program as suggested. Since you will be doing the same level for a few weeks at a time it can get a bit repetitive. If you stick with it and workout hard you’ll see the results.
One complaint about this program is that Jillian tells you to use the DVD every day and everything I’ve ever seen says that you shouldn’t do strength training on back to back days because strength training creates tiny tears in your muscle (which is what builds muscle) and those need a bit of time to repair before going at it again or you won’t see the results you want. I’m certainly not a fitness expert, so I’m not sure how that applies here.

Oh wow! This is an awesome workout. 20 minutes of pure hell (but in a good way). Once you start doing it regularly, it gets easier and boy was I proud of myself when I could manage the first workout without stopping. (ok! maybe just for 5 secs. or so compared to 30 secs initially – lol). Also, its easier to get through with a workout buddy.
I feel fabulous afterwords. I do change this routine with other workout videos, just to keep me interested.Haven’t given it 5 starts because the 2nd. workout (that’s what I have progressed to) is hard on my ‘bad’ knee. So I modify it a little, which she does suggest. I still get a good workout though.

Great workout but annoying DVD
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
First of all, the workout is great … when you get to it. The way they made the DVD is such that you have to watch a commercial for Biggest Loser show, then a warning and some other stuff before the workout every time! There’s no fast forwarding right to the workouts! I found this highly flawed and annoying… especially when I do the workout every day.
The actual workouts were tough, yet simple. No choreography to learn. For some this may get boring, but if you want a quick, tough, no frills workout… this is great.

I have never done workout videos before, but I really wanted to tone up and build better upper body strength. I have been doing this every single day and am on my 21st day. I started the first week with level 1, moved to level 2 for the second week and now am finishing out on level 3. I can’t believe how my heart rate gets up and going and muscles burning in only a 20 minute time frame. I’ve defiantly noticed improvements. I don’t have a 6 pack yet, but I believe it will get there! I can see definition in my arms too. I typically do the workout in the mornings and it gives me a great jumpstart to the day. Would highly recommend this to anyone, boys or girls.

I am trying to get back in shape, and this has been a great jump start. I have very little time to work out, so these 20 minute workouts have worked into my schedule very well. You can workout at your level and modify the moves to be low impact or more challenging. Jillian is very motivating and makes me want to push harder. The workouts get me sweating and just sore enough to know they are working. Now I just have to work on the diet part! The DVD comes with a 4 week trial membership for [...].

I love this dvd! I have been doing this workout for about a month, almost everyday with 10 days on each level. I am on day 5 of level 3. My legs and arms are so much smaller than what they were when I started and I actually have visable muscles in my arms now. My stomach muscles have gotten so much stronger and I have lost inches all over. I’ve lost about 10lbs so far, but I feel and look like I have lost way more than that because I have lost so many inches. This is such a great workout. Highly recommend!

Great workout if you hate to exercise and have no time
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I prefer outdoor activites versus a gym or workout video because I hate working out and I don’t like doing any kind of workout that requires me to memorize a bunch of choreography or spend more than 30 minutes in front of the TV. I don’t have the time or patience for it. So if you are anything like what I describe above this DVD is for you. Its short, easy to follow and it works! The workout is only 20 minutes! Even I can find 20 minutes a day to work out. Jillian doesn’t mess around or waste my time by sugar coating the workout. She gives you an intense 20 minutes that works-you-out! The first day I did it I really felt like I was going to die. I like that she offers 3 levels of intensity so on days when I’m not feeling so motivated I do the beginner series and other days I’ll do the more advanced workout or the beginner without modifications.
Jillian is great – she’s not too peppy or chatty and gives excellent instuction on form and movement. I find her very motivating.
And the best part – it works! I’ve been doing the workout 3-5 days a week for a month and have definition in my arms and have lost inches in my stomach and hips.

Would anyone like to eat at Olive Garden???
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Would anyone like to eat with me at Olive Garden? You know you want to say yes. I definitely had to give up a lot of yummy food when using this DVD workout Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred in combination with Jillian’s book “Master Your Metabolism” Master Your Metabolism: The 3 Diet Secrets to Naturally Balancing Your Hormones for a Hot and Healthy Body!.
I am a couch potato, Queen of Pasta, and all around normal person, who has tried many diets. Being 34, I swore my extra 35 pounds of post childbirth fat from my 2 kids would just not come off at my age (nor did I ever try that hard to get rid of it). So I am a never-tried-real-exercise mom of 2.
But inspired by the Biggest Loser show, I have been doing this workout and eating organic, following Jillian’s diet for 90 days. I have only mastered Level 1 of the 30 day shred this entire time. But looking forward to Level 2 shortly
I am finally shredded! My arms look leaner, I have (almost) a 6 pack tummy, and my strength surpasses my fit friends! I use 8 pound arm weights, and have added in a 500 meter swim/30 min cycling class every other day. I have lost 15 pounds. Let’s just say, dear hubby thinks I am “hot” (well, even more so than before).
On the diet alone, my hubby lost 12 lbs so far, and my 16 year old has lost 10 lbs as well.
I highly recommend this. But stick to the DVD at least 4 times a week, and stay away from Olive Garden. Far far away!

OMG! If you are looking to get in shape FAST this will do it. I can only say I can see why people on the biggest loser all lose so much weight with Jillian. This was a killer workout. I had a baby and needed to lose the last 10 pounds that slowly became 20! This has jumpstarted that quickly! I would recommend that if you are just getting started again to exercise you start on level one and take it easy. Now that I done this I am back to running and weight lifting. What an improvement it has made for me.

I love this DVD. It is set up with 3 20 minute workouts with each one getting a little bit harder. I usually do 2 at a time, doing the harder one first and then the easier one. Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred I hadn’t worked out in years and was feeling really tired and embarrassed. Love watching Jillan on The Biggest Loser and knew that if anyone could yell at me and get me to work out, it was her. I’ve done Level One and Level Two and love both of them. They both have moves in them that are challenging enough that even while I’m getting into better shape they are still working my butt off. LIterally. I love the fact they are 20 minutes so it’s not too time consuming. Who doesn’t have 20 minutes? After just a week of doing the tape I noticed remarkable differences in my stamina and strength. I’m really glad I got this tape, I needed it.

Being older, I wasn’t sure I could keep up with this workout, but it has taught me that “I’m tougher than I thought I was.” Jillian is good, a little fast on some sequencing (reference the “older”). I have been using this just about three times a week, cause it kicks butt! I pride myself on being a long distance walker, but it is important to keep up the strenght training as well. With diet and exercise I have dropped 11 pounds so far, am feeling stonger and my endurance is way high! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a gooooood, strong, FAST workout. Love that it’s only 20 minutes and you’re dead, I mean done! Hah!

Keep up with it everyday and you will see results! (Results I got with this DVD)
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This was a difficult work out for me, no lie… I was not really that much in shape. I haven’t done much working out since my junior year of high school when I had a gym class. Anyway, just know you must keep up with it. You really start to see yourself progressing when you get to day 5. My suggestion is, if you can’t do it all the way just keep doing the DVD everyday anyway until your maximum point of tolerance is reached and then just try again the next day until you can do the whole DVD. For me I noticed I couldn’t do it all the way the through the first time (for each level), but on the second go I could do it all the way through. So, just see what works for you. Don’t give up though, I know she says you need to do it all the way through without stopping, but instead of giving up just go easy on yourself, do the “Anita” (beginner) version of the workout until you can work your way up to the more advanced version.
Okay my progress with the DVD:
Within the first month I lost around 5 lbs, my body fat percentage went from 30.2% to 27.3% in 19 days. After calculating how much weight I am losing, it is about 1.1 lbs a week. Also in 19 days I lost around .75 inches off my hips, an inch off my thighs, and I am not sure about my waist because I think I might be measuring wrong…but about .5” have been lost off my waist. Remember to watch what you eat though! Or your efforts will be wasted.

Amazing Workout
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This workout delivers. As a former personal trainer and now Pilates instructor, I highly recommend this workout. It provides the perfect blend of cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and abdominal conditioning. The exercises are basic enough for the beginner but built into intervals that will keep your heart rate up throughout the entire practice making it ideal for the serious exerciser. What I love is that the DVD offers 3 levels of workouts that are about 20 mins each in length, perfect for days when you are short on time but want to workout hard. I also like that Jillian actually “coaches” you through the exercises rather than just “doing” them and counting reps. I highly recommend this DVD.

This works! …but some of the “level” exercise are questionable
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I got this DVD back in the spring and made the mistake of using heavier weights than Jillian. I was already in good shape but wanted to be “shredded”. Bad move! The heavier weights are unnecessary with all of the plyometrics. My body began to break down, literally, from overwork (swelling and loss of tone). After a break of 2 months, I tried it again. I’ve been doing level 2 and I love it. I honestly think it’s one of the best most effective 25-27 minute workouts I’ve ever owned. And I have a fairly vast library of workout DVDs, nearly 50 in total. I feel wonderful while doing level 2 and I’ve seen great results in my arms, shoulders and back with only 3 lb weights. It’s amazing. I’ve been able to see definition in my abs that I haven’t seen before, even at the most fit points in my life. And this is post pregnancy, that’s unexpected!
Level 3 on the other hand, has lots of jumping and pushups but the arms/back portion with weights is weaker. Be careful here, I hurt myself with the jumping lunges – a strained soaz muscle. The jumps are extremely high impact. Much of level 3 does not seem as difficult or challenging (to me) as level 2 apart from the jumping. I found this portion of the DVD perplexing, the mixture of exercises just doesn’t make sense. So now I do level 2 and then add a few things from level 3 – the superman moves are excellent. Even if you never progress to level 3 you’ll have a kick butt workout and you *will* see a difference if you stick with it. I found that I have had better results when I do the workout(s) 4-5 days a week and allow my body to repair rather than daily as Jillian recommends.

I normally work out at the gym but due to some family medical issues I am having to work out at home now. This DVD is a good work out, simply choreographed, and it combines strenghth, cardio, and ab work–all in twenty minutes. We all have twenty minutes to devote to our health, right? I sometimes do two levels in one session for an added challenge. I think it’s a good DVD for all fitness levels.

After spending all this money on a treadmill and then an exersize bike with very little results… how funny this $15 would be the best money I have ever spent!
Work outs are not easy… they are not easy on the knees…. but YOU WILL GET RESULTS. The first three days are hard and you will be sore, work thru it.
I have been doing it for about three weeks now… gradually moving up (have missed some days) but I have lost 16 lbs! And my partner has lost 13lbs! And Jillian Micheals seems to have a sense when you feel like taking a break… it feels like she is directly talking to YOU.
THIS WORKS!

Wonderful and Sore
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this DVD last week and used regular shipping. I received it a day earlier than estimated. There are three levels to the DVD. You will only need hand weights, that can be any weight. I started on Level 1 and told myself that I will follow the person who is doing the workour full blown, just like Jillian. There was no way I was going to just follow the moderate movements! About two minutes into the workout I could not keep up. This is so fast paced and wonderful! Needless to say, I finished barely being able to get off the floor to do the last three minutes. I was following the moderate work outs the entire time. My arms and thighs are so sore today, I feel like I just trained at a gym. I strongly encourage this DVD! One thing that Jillian says on there over and over, is that you can not take a break during the entire 25 minutes. There is NO WAY you can lose weight in 25 minutes with taking it slow. She works you out hard, and this is really worth it.

After letting my health club membership expire late last year, I started looking around for some free exercise options. I suppose it is not technically “free”, but I found my cable company offered many workout programs “on demand” anytime I wanted to workout. My wife got me watching The Biggest Loser a couple of years ago, so I tended towards the workouts from those trainers that I recognized.
I can say, as a 30-year-old man in above average shape, that Jillian’s workouts are great. The mix of strength, cardio, and abs in different circuits keeps your mind engaged, and with pushups, shoulder lifts, and bicep curls I feel that most all of my male-related muscles are being worked. I have noticed more quickness in my weekly basketball games and definitely get off the ground better for rebounds. My wife and I liked the “Shred” so much that we purchased the DVD, so that we can use all levels at anytime we want. Thanks, Jillian!

Disappointing

It is hard to submit a review for this video. I did follow it and enjoyed it – the workout flies by because she gives you no rest and you really break into a sweat. I was so hopeful for this workout and I stuck to it, but I had to stop. It is incredibly hard on your knees and it wasn’t worth the pain and long term damage. I’d rather find a safer workout. My knees were killing me after 3 days of working out on level 1 so I took one day off and continued thinking I just needed to build up endurance – unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I wish I could give this video 5 stars, but my knees won’t let me.

I thought my wife was silly for wanting to buy a silly exercise DVD by Jillian, the hyped-up “Biggest Loser” trainer. I respect Jillian and have watched her on the previous seasons train the contestants. I thought this was just another way to make money on the marketing of the TV show.
I was mistaken. I just completed my first workout with my wife (she challenged me to give it a shot) and it completely drained me. For a guy that can run 7-miles without a problem and lift weights in the gym for 90 minutes twice a week… that is saying a LOT!

I am being shredded!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this tape after reading all the rave reviews. I work out and am in good shape. I normally dance an hour a day, plus, I do another hour of yoga and twice a week weight training.
Still, I could stand to lose twenty pounds so I went for it. The DVD says you can lose 20lbs in 30 days if you do the shred everyday.
Let me tell you, I could barely make it through level one, and it is only 20 minutes! A third of the time I normally dance.
The moves are easy, most are old school and I already know them. I even have two of them on a Jack LaLane DVD I use that was made in the seventies!
The combination, flow, and intensity of this workout left me breathless and soaked with sweat. I’ve lost one pound a day so far doing it only four days.
Highly recommended and better than any tape I’ve ever used. And I’ve used many over the past twenty-five years.
I believe this will deliver as promised. I certainly feel the shred. I also feel stronger and look more toned already!

-Wow!! This DVD is awesome. I consider myself very athletic -played sports all thru High School and College; I run on average 20-25 miles a week, go to spinning class twice a week and do weight training. I tried this workout for the first time today because I sprained my ankle last week and I have to say I am sore (but only my upperbody)! I did the first level and some moves in the second level with 5lb weights. I thought I could waltz through both levels, but I highly recommend you stick with level one first till you feel it has become easy for you.
I plan on canceling my gym membership and combining the dvd with my running, and cycling regimine. I think her DVD would be more effective for maintaining body tone then any machine at the gym and it saves time! Then I plan on switching to P90X OR Beachbodys’ Insanity once I get more upper body strength.

I purchased this DVD to use at home on days when I cannot get to the gym. I felt more results in 20 mins than I have after being at the gym for an hour! Jillian definitely delivers. But follow her advice and start at level I. I was so sore the day after I started this that I had to go down the steps on my butt! Definitely worth the money! And mine shipped to me in 2 days (with ground shipping) If you want to feel results quickly, this the way to do it!

Fantastic workout in a short time!
– this is the very first exercise DVD I’ve *ever* done and it has opened up a whole new world for me! Love how I feel that my butt has been kicked and I have sweat just pouring off of me by the end – however, I think at my age it would be a mistake to do this workout every day, so I’ve settled on three times a week – also, I hate to disagree with Jillian, but I *cannot* do jumping jacks! I tried and I could tell I was about to do serious damage to my knees! I think most of her advice is geared toward 20- and 30- somethings who probably *can* do jumping jacks, but I have to stick up for those of us over 50 – I do running in place as fast as I can, and that *is* something I can do! I don’t agree at all with people who think Jillian is “annoying” – I think she really cares, knows exactly when to encourage you to stick it out on a move, and I have tremendous respect for her! I’ve now ordered more of her exercise DVDs – You go, Jillian!

Love/Hate relationship with this DVD.
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This DVD is a good workout, you’ll work up a great sweat. But it’s not for those with knee or hip problems. It’s a lot of lunging and jumping so if those things bother you then I wouldn’t suggest your purchase this DVD. Jillian isn’t big on stressing proper form on some of the moves either.
There are lots of old gym class moves like squat thrusts, jumping jacks, and bicycle crunches. The 3 levels are challenging and you’ll feel stronger by the end. I’d recommend doing each level until you’ve mastered it, even if it takes longer than 30 days to finish all 3 levels because moving to the next level before you’re ready will probably lead to injury or burn out.
The warmup and stretching for the vids are pretty weak.

I’m going to make this short and sweet. I’ve always had to watch what I eat and excercise to stay in shape. I hate cardio and having to spend an hour and a half in the gym to achieve my fitness goals. I had triplets in March and weighed 220 lbs when I gave birth. I am 5’4″ and 158 lbs as of right now. My goal is to get down to 130 lbs. I recently paid $800 for a Personal Trainer for 12 sessions. I still have 5 sessions left with him and after doing 6 days of the Level 1 workout with Jillian, I will not be calling him back. I wish I would’ve found this DVD beforehand. The workouts are short, sweet and effective just what a workout should be as far as I’m concerned. You will sweat, get side cramps, curse and want to pass out the first couple days, but it does get easier. I am on day 7 and already feel stronger! Just give it a try! I know you have 20 minutes a day for 30 days, what’s the harm in giving it a try?

Im now doing my 3rd round of this dvd and if you commit to doing 20 minutes of this 5 days a week, you will see results. Add clean eating and an additional session of cardio a day, the results are amazing. Im now spoiled cause I refuse to do a 1 hour fitness dvd when I can get the same results with a 20 minute workout. This dvd is priceless!!

After finding out about this video from the Wedding Bee I decided to look into it because all the brides were highly recommending. I was blown away when I got on Amazon and there were so many reviews and all mostly really positive. I was still a little skeptical but ordered the video anyway.
I did my first workout this morning and it was TOUGH! I have been exercising 5-6 days per week for eight weeks doing basically the same things in my workouts- cardio, strength, abs and rotating all of that. I have to admit this one on Level 1 was tough. I plan to do it through the week and move up to Level 2 next week…we’ll see. I still plan to do my regular afternoon workout with my trainer and do this video at home in the mornings.
I am only 4 weeks away from my wedding so I hope Jillian can help whip me into a little better shape! I will try and keep you posted!

Rating:5 out of 5 stars
i have to admit, i was a little bit sceptical about this workout at first. i mean, a 22 min workout? doesn’t sound like any good, right? wrong!!!! this is an amazing, ass kicking workout, that leaves you with sweat pouring down your face, and a good satisfied feeling in your stomach. i bought this dvd because of the short workout time, i mean, i’m a busy person. i heard it was hard, but i knew that she had modified versions, and i would catch up with the harder ones. and, i was mostly right. things like the pushups, squat and press, and bicycle crunches were hard, but all totally worth it. today was my 7th day on the dvd, and i just moved on to the second level. i’ve already seen a difference, and i feel really good. the morning after my first time, my legs and butt where aching, so make sure you stretch and all that before. if your self-concious about your boobs jumping up and down, do it in an area where no one can see you, especially on the first level, as almost all cardio moves involve jumping. overall though, this dvd is an amazing workout, and totally worth the money, and hey, even if you don’t like it, it’s only like $[...]. she says in the beginning you need hand weights, but you can just use full water bottles if it’s easier. i did for the first few days and then i went out and bought some 2 lb ones, b/c she doesn’t specify what weight to use. the annoying bit is in the beginning, b/c u can’t skip over half of the commercials. obviously this doesn’t really matter, but just in case that bothers you. overall, great, great buy, totally worth it, but you have to keep pushing everyday, even if you don’t feel up to it. it doesn’t take long, and you will see results.

It was a great workout. I don’t run marathons, but I would consider myself pretty fit and this was really hard. The only thing I don’t like about this video is that i find Jillian too awkwardly abrasive. She tries to joke a bit, but it doesn’t work with her rougher personality. But, the workout is good enough that I can overlook her personality.

This Starts Working After Week One!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After an intensive senior year of college I put on a few extra pounds and was feeling down on myself before my wedding.
I started really cutting out excessive foods, alcohol, soda, snacks, and trying to work out at home (it’s too hot outside in Central Texas in the summer) but it just wasn’t enough.
Since one of my wedding registries is on here, I decided to look up workout DVDs. I work from home so I figured it would be perfect. How could I say no to buying this DVD after seeing all of these positive reviews?
I’m on Day 12 of the 30 days and already I am seeing results! I’ve lost 3 lbs and toned so much! I’m loving the flatter stomach this is giving me!
My fiance says I look great and I’m feeling great too!
These workouts are HARD, don’t get me wrong. I just moved on to Level 2 and it is killing me by the end of it. She fits in like 6 different plank exercises! They’re hard, but they’re over soon and you really feel accomplished by the end. I like Jillian’s style, she’s honest but not mean.
I’ve been blogging about each day of my shred experience and a bunch of my friends have now bought the DVD.
I definitely recommended it!

I like this DVD. It’s been hard to stay with it though. It is tough on your body. One complaint… I gained weight instead of lost. My body shape changed and I could wear some smaller clothes, but I gained weight both because of muscle and I was SOOO HUNGRY all the time! Good purchase, WAY better than the gym. Try it out…. if its not for you, just use it as a way to warm up to the gym. Definitely worth the money.

Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I used to do The Firm workouts which typically last 45 min and never really broke much of sweat. But Jillian’s 30 Day Shred leaves me dripping in sweat after only 25 min. I have been using this DVD for almost 2 weeks now and have seen a vast improvement in my endurance. I have only lost 3 pounds, but more importantly I can tell that I am getting stronger and more in shape. I started by switching between the first two levels and now I rotate doing a different level each day. Some of the moves in level 3 are too difficult for me so in order to get a full workout, I substitute those tough moves with easier ones from levels 1 and 2. Overall, these are great workouts.

Probably the best workout video I have come across….I am in shape and workout pretty hard and I find this video to really meet my needs. I have always belonged to a gym BUT with 2 small kids I now workout at home with videos, weights, and my treadmill. Something I do b/c I find the segemnts too short is I either do 2 different levels back to back OR I bought Jillian’s book and add my own circuits on at the end. I reverse the dvd back to the first circuit and follow Jillian’s “time” but do my own exercises….then I do her cardio and usually her abs….For example I add tricep extensions for the 30sec exercise and then do a deadliftyupright row combo followed by her cardio and abs….Doing this I make the workout 40 min vs the 28min provided.

Just as many reviews indicate, this workout is very difficult. I haven’t gotten past level one. I am using five pound weights and wonder if I should have started with three pounds. I have done the workout probably 10 times now (2-3 times per week). The numbers on the scale haven’t changed but I know it has got to be doing something good for me because it works me so hard! This workout is easy to follow and you don’t have to be coordinated to do it. (Thank goodness) I would recommend this workout video but don’t get discouraged when you find out how difficult it is. Just do the best you can with it!

I went on Amazon to purchase a different workout dvd mentioned in Us Weekly and this one caught my eye. The price was good and the reviews were too. I got it home and I have to say it really impressed me. Her 3-2-1 method really works. I’ve gone through all 3 levels now and each one is a challenge. Although they are only 20 mins these workouts are TOUGH. Get ready to sweat. I would suggest using 3lb weights to start out with. I use 5 but for a few of the moves it gets really tough. I’ve seen great results in a short amount of time. This one will be in my video rotation for a long time. I look forward to trying her new videos next.

Not worth it & not safe
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I have to agree with other reviewers. This DVD is not worth buying, nor is her idea of fitness safe!!!
Your muscles NEED 48 hours inbetween training sessions to recover. If you work out daily with the same strength training moves, you have a really high chance of injuring yourself. Your muscles wont recover, will become fatigued. Thats called overtraining. Something any trainer worth anything will warn you against. You arent building any muscle this way either. If you know anything about getting in shape, you need to build muscle to burn fat efficiently. You cannot build muscle without rest! Plain and simple!!
Not only that, all her ‘cardio’ sections are high-impact. Which means they are jarring and hard on your joints, this is healthy for no one! Especially those who are carrying around a few extra pounds.
Aside from that, I found the video annoying after just watching it twice. She should have included a how to section at the beginning so you could learn the exercises before you started. This way you have to listen to her tell you how to do them EVERY single time you watch the video.

Best part need minimal accesories (mat 2 dumbells can even use can food ..)to get started , Ms Micheals makes it very simplistic which affords one with no excuses to delay! has potential to increase intensity, im just on fist video.

Level one is tough, but after a week or so you feel fit to handle it. But level two is almost impossible to accomplish without cheating. Level one doesnt get your ready enough for two or three. So i felt stuck on one.

This dvd offers a great workout. I skipped w/o 1 as I am not new to exercise, and must say the following 2 make me sweat, and it only takes 20 minutes. Great for someone with time issues.
The only thing I don’t like is there is no fast forwarding through the intro which is a pain so I try to start the dvd while I am getting in my workout clothes that way I don’t have to listen to the commercial for the Biggest Loser DVD’s and Jillian’s speech.
I do recommend this DVD – you will need hand weights.

I have high standards when it comes to exercise videos but this video makes the cut! I like the 1 – 2 – 3 style and I LOVE that you can choose to watch the video with just the music and without the verbal instructions! The only annoying part, and it’s minor, really, is that you HAVE to watch a little “pep-talk” from Jillian every time you want to do the video.

Great Workout DVD – Hard & Challenging
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
First of all – let me start off by saying that I am 33 years old & weigh 186 lbs. I am trying to get back down to the weight I was before I had my baby 14 months ago. I have been working out doing circuit training 3 times a week 30 minutes each time for the past 4 months & have lost a total of 12 lbs so far. I know an hour & a half of exercise each week is not enough to get maximum results so I wanted a workout DVD I could do quickly in the mornings before I go to work. I honestly thought I could handle a simple 20 minute Level 1 workout but I was wrong!!! I just did my first workout yesterday & my thighs are so sore today – I can hardly get up or sit down right now much less think about walking down stairs. This DVD definitely works as I can feel it today. I can even tell my abs got a workout too. Jillian really pushes you to keep going through the 20 minutes of workout. I honestly feel like I got more of a workout with this 20 minutes than I have any day with my circuit workouts. I unfortunately have to wait a day or two for my thighs to quit screaming before I can work out with this DVD again. My only problem with this DVD is that Jillian expects you to just be able to drop down & start doing pushups (of course the 3 of them in the video all a size 2 have no problems with this). I on the other hand was able to do about 5 push ups before I dropped to the floor. If this happens to you – pick yourself up & move on with them to the next exercise. You will enjoy the workout – it goes by quick. I hope to work out with Jillian again tomorrow morning.

I lost weight
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I got Jillian’s 30 Day Shred a month ago. I’ve been working out with this DVD three times a week. I lost a total of 4 pounds, which is the ideal amount for permanent weight lost (I don’t diet though most of my meals are homemade and I eat lots of fruits). Her routine is is mixture of strength and weight training. She works both the large and smaller muscles for quick results. I’m giving it a 4 star because there’s too much jumping jacks. I don’t recommend people with bad knees using this DVD often. But it works! I am feeling stronger, toner, and have more energy.

Amazing workout that anyone can do
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have a read some reviews and people are saying that this is for advanced levels… Ok, maybe.
I am 30 years old, and was very out of shape. I weighted in at over 200 pounds at a doctor’s appointment 2 weeks ago and had to do somehting about it. I would get winded carrying the laundry basket up the stairs, seriously it was bad.
I am only 2 weeks into this video and already have lost noticeable inches. I do not own a scale (fear) so I can’t tell you how much I have lost, but I can tell you that my clothes are looser, I am getting into my smaller clothes and I feel great!
It was difficult for me at first, I could not do all of the jumping jacks, and the jump rope kicked my butt, that was not happening. I still have to push to get through the crunches, but I can do it. I feel better now than I have in over a decade. There is no better workout around, I have tried them all and none of them have kept my attention this long.
Give it a try, you will not be disapointed.

Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I consider myself to be at least moderate, if not advanced. I had a set of 5 lb. hand weights at home and decided to give it a shot, thinking with 5 lb. weights it would be easy. HA! She kicked my butt-even on level 1. I have been doing this dvd on most days of the week for about 7 weeks now. I have lost 18 lbs. and feel shredded! (Mind you, I have been following weight watchers for diet for the same amount of time, so it is a combined effort!) But my body is definitely more toned and you can see definite muscles in my arms and shoulders, and abs!! Sometimes I do level 3, skip the cool down and go back to level 2 (skipping the warm up) for at least 1 or 2 circuits…just for a longer workout than the “20 minutes”. I would definitely recommend this dvd-especially if you have had some experience with weight lifting. Not really for the beginner, though.

AMAZING!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was looking for a workout DVD that I could use to supplement my regular exercise and I thought this one sounded great, as the workouts are only 20 minutes long. When I tried it, I realized it wasn’t great – it was AMAZING! I cannot believe how Jillian can possibly pack so much fat burning into 20 minutes. I work out a fair amount and I was challenged by Level 1. But this DVD also has Levels 2 and 3 so you can progress as you get better!
I am now hooked on this DVD and looking forward to doing it every day! I have already seen a difference (after just a week) and the results are equivalent to spending an hour or more at the gym. Jillian is also really funny, in a kick-butt sort of way.
UPDATE: After using this video (only Level 1) for about 2 weeks, I started getting pain in my knees. I first noticed it during the workout – specifically during the lunges. The pain was sharp and surprised me. I decided to just do “modified” lunges (not going down as far). It seemed better, but then I started noticing the pain during the modified lunges and during squats. Then the pain started kicking in during every day activities, like walking or going upstairs. I have never had any type of injury or knee pain and I’ve been athletic my whole life. I’m quite sure I have been doing the techniques properly, as I have been trained by many excellent athletic trainers over the years and did martial arts for many years. However, I believe the repetitive nature of the lunges and squats are just too much for my knees. After stopping the video altogether, my knees were back to feeling fine in about a week. Just be careful and listen to your body!

Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Like all the other reviewers mentioned, it will kill your knees if you have bad knees and you don’t modify any moves. I read the reviews and bought this with the expectation of a killer knee workout and I have somewhat bad knees. However, I just modified certain moves on level 1. For the static lunges/bicep curl I replaced that with a squat and bicep curl. I did level 2 once and I noticed my ankles hurt that day and the next… but I have terrible ankles due to several sprained ankles during H-S Basketball. I have had this for a month and I do it 2-3 times per week and Mtn bike on the weekend. I have changed my diet to lots of fruits and veggies and around 1500 calories a day and I have lost 10 lbs. I had a baby 9 months ago and NOTHING has worked until the shred, and diet changes. I have noticed my arms and legs are toning up. I would recommend it to anyone who understands that there can be knee problems and to modify some moves if you have knee problems.

I really dig this DVD. I use it almost every day. The short, well-balanced workouts was the biggest selling point for me. Twenty minutes and you’re done. No matter how tired I was at the end of the day, I knew I could push through another twenty minutes. And I feel so much better afterwards.
With this DVD, I now believe that I can incorporate exercise into my day for a healthier lifestyle.

Best DVD Fitness Purchase
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
O. K. Call me the fitness DVD queen…well purchase queen that is. My workout videos runneth over. I’ve bought SEVERAL and now most are dust collectors. I quickly grew tired of the “perky” instructors cheering me on at 6 a.m. saying just 8 more, now 7, 6, etc thru plastered smiles and matching clothes. That’s not what I needed. I wanted a TRAINER. I have been a faithful viewer of the Biggest Loser and I loved Jillians tactics. What I wouldn’t do to be one of her students. So while doing my regular DVD hunt I came across the 30 day shred and decided to order. This is the best DVD I have purchased! It really is a “butt kicker” and I was glad not to have the “cheerleader” instructor but an actual trainer. I am currently on my tenth day and I haven’t even thought about throwing in the towel unlike previous experiences. Its only 20 minutes and I’m not going to lie,it can be hard at times because it makes you work. Strength to cardio to abs and you chose when you are ready for the next level of intensity. Working 12 hour shifts along with being a wife and football mom I certainly don’t have hours to spend in a gym. My husband is already starting to notice. He said I’m getting my curves back and this was only after 9 days! Jillian rocks!

Great workout, until your knees give in
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I purchased this DVD from Amazon.com several months ago. I should really preface the following review with my stats:
Age: 24 (23 when I began this routine)
Height: 5’5”
Weight: 110 lbs
Work-out level: Advanced
I had read several reviews that said this workout was a killer for knees, but I discredited them because of my excellent condition and the rave reviews that outweighed them. I LOVED this workout for about a month, and then I noticed that I had extreme knee issues after using it. I stopped and cut back to determine whether or not this DVD was the cause, sure enough, I always experienced severe pain after the routine… even after replacing this workout for an entire month, the next time I used it my knee started giving out again. I wasn’t idle during the time I wasn’t using this DVD (I have several others, including the shape ultimate bikini body workout, which is excellent), so I’m sure that it was only this DVD which caused the issues. If you even THINK it’s possible that your knees could be damaged, go elsewhere. It just isn’t worth it when there are so many other effective products to choose from.
Also, as with most DVDs, the workout is about 27 minutes, not 20.
Good luck!

You Will Get Results!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This DVD is life changing, and at this price I don’t know why everyone isn’t in shape. I fondly call this workout my 30 minutes of ‘heck’ (keeping it clean.) It’s hard, but I guarantee that you will see results. Without any changes to my diet I am seeing the results. I don’t eat fast food, but I do eat dessert. I’m now going to start cutting calories to really maximize the changes. I had been doing an hour of treadmill and pilates and thought I was in pretty good shape. Not! Now in a half hour I’m getting results like I’ve never had.
I started this program 3 weeks ago. I did level one for two weeks and am on my second week of level two. I’m enjoying level two a lot. The exercises are actually fun (love the walk-out push-ups and pendulum lunges.) I also call level two the ‘sexy shoulder workout.’ It is intense on your shoulders – but I’ve always wanted sexy shoulders! I’m doing two weeks at each level, then I will rotate through the levels. I can feel different muscles working from level one to level two, so I think rotating after will keep me looking great.
The program lets you work at whatever level is comfortable to you. As you get stronger, you can intensify your workout so everyday is a challenge. Again, this is not easy. There hasn’t been a day that I wasn’t out of breath thinking I would die. But with warm-up and cool-down it’s 30 minutes. Everyone can do this for 30 minutes.
My advice – don’t give up. When you first start this, unless you are already doing lunges everyday, you will feel pain! Stairs will be a challenge. Trust me – give it 3 days and you will be fine. Keep doing the workouts. Think of the pain as a positive – it makes it harder to get to the kitchen.
My sister has a personal trainer and I had to ask her how long before I could walk up and down stairs again. She said 3 days, she was right. Stick with it!
Be sure to drink even more water than you usually do. I have never sweat like I do with this video. Water is so good for you anyway. I even see my skin looking better since starting this workout.
No excuses! For less than $10 you can have this video and change your life. You don’t need a gym, you don’t need expensive equipment. If you don’t have hand weights and don’t want to spend the money, then use soup cans or something around the house. I’m using half pound wrist weights because that is what I had. I will get heavier weights to intensify the workout later. Half pound weights and I’m getting results! It’s awesome.
Commit to the 30 minutes a day and you will be thankful. You will get results. You will feel better about yourself. Nobody is that busy – don’t watch the evening news, learn how to use a slow cooker to cut dinner prep time (just don’t turn to fast food!), surf ebay less, shower faster – get organized and make the time! You won’t regret it.

I’m sure that by the end of my 30 days I’ll be shredded. In one respect, I’m already seeing the results in my first week. Jillian pushes me hard but positively. My only warning is that you warm up a bit more that Jillian does. I felt so much better doing the workouts when I had spent my own time stretching as the dvd started up. Overall, a great buy, though.

This workout has changed my life!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I never use to workout before I did this DVD because I never got the results I wanted and always gave up. I’ve always been about 20-30 lbs overweight and uncomfortable with my body and have gone on countless diets and put on and off the weight— but always gaining it all back in the end. But Jillian motivates you and keeps you at it. Let me start out by saying she is not demeaning in any way and all of those people complaining about her “drill sergeant” behavior need to just toughen up haha. Or I don’t know–maybe I just like her because she’s changed my body completely with the 30 day shred and I just started watching the Biggest Loser this season. I can’t say a bad word against her except for maybe when I’m working out and feel like I am going to die, but I always forgive her after when I look in the mirror!
I started gaining muscle and getting more toned and was able to get through the DVD completely without taking a break or getting a sip of water after only 3 days. It’s amazing to see how your endurance improves in such a short time. The first day I did this I had to stop and catch my breath within the first 5 minutes! You know it’s working when it transforms you from the inside out. Because of Jillian and the 30 day shred I now workout 5-6 times a week. I have been doing this workout along with Bob’s Biggest Loser yoga workout, added cardio on the treadmill, and a moderately, healthy diet and I’ve gotten great results in only 1 1/2 months! I’ve lost inches and gone down at least one whole pants size! I don’t own a scale yet, so I cant tell you how much weight I’ve lost but I think it’s more important to measure by inches anyways especially since you’re gaining muscle. Let me just tell you that the fact that I am working out this much and being this healthy is a big deal because I have never had this kind of motivation until now! I recently just purchased Jillian’s two other dvds– Banish Fat and Boost metabolism and No More Trouble Zones and I can’t wait to try them and see what they do for me! Thank you Jillian for changing my life and outlook on working out and being healthy!

I have been doing these exercises with Exercise TV. I wanted to see if I could get a dvd so when I travel I can still do my exercises. Jillian says that each segment is 20 minutes. It is a real work out. I gained 25 pounds after I quit smoking 11 months ago. My regular walking and Tony Little gazelle, and WW was not getting it off. I do the Jillian exercises six days a week and I can see the difference. I will do it for 30 consecutive days and the go back to alternate days with this and the gazelle. I am 58 in reasonable health with some knee problems. Jillian gives you to different ways to do most of the high impact moves. I do suggest that you invest in some good crossing training shoes. They are making a difference for me. You will not be disappointed with this exercise program if you are serious.

Profanity, Bad Music
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The dvd is highly annoying in the beginning because it does not allow you to skip through the long intro. The music is very boring, and the trainer talks a bit too much. Level one is okay, though I did not go back to it after the first couple of times-it gets really easy and boring. Level two and three are fine, although again the music leaves a lot to be desired. I don’t watch reality TV and I guess the trainer is on some weight loss show, but really-who cares?
I was also really ticked by her use of profanity, especially since I always work out in the mornings and my 10 yr old is usually nearby getting ready for school.
I have had the dvd for about a month now and am ready to move on to something else.

Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Definitely take note of what other reviewers have already stated – this is NOT easy on the knees!
I have knee problems, and started to feel some discomfort on the first level during plain old jumping jacks – even with my knees wrapped! Beyond Level 1, forget it! I cannot do the lunges and jumps.
HOWEVER, it is definitely an effective workout overall.
Just be cautious if you’ve had or currently have knee problems, as I do, some of these exercises are not for you, even modified.

My Butt is Kicked!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have only done this video once, but I plan on doing it every other day! The lunges were a killer for me for some reason. My legs wouldn’t stop shaking! The only thing that bothered me about this video so far is that there was little to no stretching of the calves on level one. I had to compensate for that. Now the day after, they are killing me, but in a good way!
I am training to walk a 1/2 marathon in November. Before I started this video I was walking a lot and on every Saturday I’d walk one mile more than I did the previous weekend. I didn’t feel a change in my body from the walking, nor did I see one. I also didn’t feel that my endurance was working for me. So, I decided to try a different approach. Mon, Wed, & Fri I would do this Shred workout. A friend suggested it to me and told me how challenging it was. Then on Tue & Thurs, I would do the “Crunch: Fat Burning Pilates.” I found out today that they are nice compliments for each other. With Jillian I didn’t feel as though my glutes were addressed. The Pilates video makes up for that nicely. Last but not least Wed. & Fri I walk 2 quick miles and do my endurance walk on Saturday. I will try and get back to this post to tell you if I see improvements in my endurance or my body.
My friend told me that your muscles will feel realy tight after doing the Shred, so I also ordered a yoga video to help with flexability.

perfect alternative to a gym membership
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I once met a trainer who told me that before getting into personal training she never went to a gym. She did all her workouts at home. This rang true for me because unless you want to be a body building champion, workout equipment at gyms is irrelevant for most of us. Since then I began a search for the perfect at home workout that I could substitute a gym membership with. As a busy person, who isn’t in New York City?, this perfect workout had to be done in under an hour. I have compiled a pretty good library of short-format workouts spanning strength training to pilates to yoga. Although some of these are excellent and accomplish what they set out to do, they always required additional components in order to achieve full-body balance. What’s great about Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred is that you could stick with this as your only workout for a while and achieve a healthy, toned physique. The only thing I do aside from this is yoga and it’s because I love it and get benefits beyond the physical from it. But, if you’re mostly searching for a complete strength training/cardio/abs combination, you cannot go wrong with this DVD.
(P.S.: this is my first review for an amazon product – ever – I’ve been purchasing from the site and enjoying other people’s reviews since 1997.)

20 minutes of workout with results!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this and received it on Thursday, tried level one and thought, okay, it’s not too bad, I can, for the most part keep up with it. Until day two–by then everything was sore and it was so hard to work out, but I kept on. Day three, still sore, but I stayed with it, and after that day three work out (still at level one), I felt good about myself, all the soreness (lactic acid) went away! It’s only been a week, but oh my goodness have I seen results already! I’m not the most fit person. I’ve had three kids and there is a spare tire around my tummy, but slowly it is shrinking and clothes that were too tight before are not as much anymore. I’m really surprised at the results for only the 20+ minutes that I workout with her/day. Yes, I was a skeptic, but surely these 1000+ reviews were not wrong! Level two was definitely harder to keep up with… but I’m faithfully doing them and I have yet to even look at level three! Thank you Jillian Michaels!

I had read many raving reviews, so I decided to try her video for myself, and I am thrilled with the results! I was in good shape before starting the video, and I wanted to focus mainly on strength and toning. By day 10, there was a noticeable difference in my abs, legs, and arms (basically every area you could ask for!). I’m on day 16 right now, and I can’t wait to see the other changes that are in-store. My favorite is Level 2, because my problems areas stomach, thighs and hips are getting the biggest workout. Walking Plank Push ups, High Kicks, Plank Jumping Jacks, Plank Squats, and so much more. Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I just finished my 30th day of the 30 Day Shred. I got the DVD to stay in shape and to get toned, not so much to lose weight. I did end up losing 4 pounds, my arms are toned, and I’m starting to show a six pack.
Absolutely fantastic purchase – worth every penny. I had been working out on my own for months, seeing no results. Jillian kicks your butt, but also makes it easy to stay motivated to do the workouts day after day. In fact, although I finished the 30 days, I’m just about to start a second 30 days… but with heavier weights this time.
On another note, I’ve always been athletic… but not very coordinated at all. I had a subscription to Shape magazine and often tried to do the workouts in it. However, my body just didn’t move the way the exercises showed me. The exercises in this video are difficult, but not impossible to perform.

GREAT for new moms
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve been a pretty active person for most of my life – I’ve been working out 4-5 days a week since I was in high school. After giving birth a year ago, I felt like I needed to jump-start my exercise routine. After hearing raves about this dvd from other new moms I decided to try it. All I can say is WOW. I actually considered skipping Level 1 since I consider myself to be an intermediate to advanced level exerciser. I’m so glad I didn’t! I was sore the next day. I’ve been doing it every other day for a little more than a month and just started Level 3 yesterday. I’m so sore, but I’m loving it because I know I’m getting an effective workout.
I highly recommend this dvd to everyone, but especially to new moms. We all know we have at least a few pounds to lose and not much free time to work out. Even if your little one only naps for 25 minutes at a stretch you will still have plenty of time to complete a workout. I love the Shred and will continue doing it for quite a while!

I heard about this workout DVD through another blog and decided to give it a shot. Boy am I glad that I did. It is quite possibly the best thing I’ve bought in a long time. Jillian is no joke and she really pushes you. In order for it to pay off though, you have to push yourself. Every morning I religiously get up and go at it again. It’s tough, but amazing. BUY IT!

Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I have done this dvd 12 times and today just moved up to level 2. Level 2 is definitely a lot harder than level 1. I do like this dvd but I haven’t lost any pounds at all yet. That part is a little disappointing but I am not dieting so it is partly my fault. I say PARTLY because I don’t really eat unhealthy so I don’t really need to diet. So I’m not really sure why I haven’t lost any weight yet but I’m going to keep at it. Maybe I will once I continue with level 2. I only want to lose 10 lbs and I have been told that when you don’t need to lose a lot of weight, it is harder than people who have a lot to lose. I’m not sure how true that is but it is the only thing I can think of as to why I haven’t lost any yet.

The best workout DVD
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I had heard rave reviews about this video, and the bonus was it was only 20 minutes long.
This killed me for quite sometime, but the results are amazing. My clothes are way too big now. My endurance is so high that I can now do all 3 videos consecutively (if I’m so motivated).
I love how Jillian keeps encouraging throughout. I would definitely recommend this to all. It really does work!

30 days shred
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The program changes moves too quickly. It is not normal to change so quickly from standing to sitting to lie down. It put lots of stress on joints.
Also, there are no option for biginner or some one with knee or back problem.
The movements are not bad, but becareful with your knee and back.

This DVD has CHANGED MY LIFE – Incredible!!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Throughout my life, I have been in and out of reasonable shape (exercising somewhat regularly in an ongoing battle with weight). I did gain a good bit of weight just before getting pregnant with my first child at age 38. My pregnancy was terrific and I only gained 25 pounds, although due to my starting weight I got very big and the back strain was difficult. After my son was born (a very difficult delivery), I lost my pregnancy weight fast (within 2 weeks), but was left at my pre-pregnancy weight (plenty to lose) and in a lot of pain. My son is now 6 months old, and after the initial couple of months of post-partum “recovery,” I have tried to get back into working out to lose weight.
The extra weight has hijacked my life – stealing enjoyment of my son, wreaking havoc on my self esteem, and affecting all areas of my life. Most disturbing has been chronic back pain. Since my 3rd trimester, my back has been screaming in pain from the moment I wake up and throughout the day. Now, even picking up my son has been difficult, depending on the position, and sitting down with him to nurse in a chair sometimes causes so much pain on the way to sitting position that I have cried out. My efforts to work out have been sabotaged by my back pain, and although I have been able to get into a walking routine (once I get moving, I’m ok), the aftermath back pain has been horrible. I had just about come to the conclusion that having a baby has simply ruined my body and that I was doomed to suffer with this back pain indefinitely.
The compelling event was that my husband and I are going on a trip at the end of April with his work colleagues. Sun and sand, what would have formerly been a dream, is now a dread due to my weight and discomfort. I had to do something.
Through a stroke of luck more than anything, I landed on your exercise DVDs on Amazon, and I was struck by the overwhelming positive response for your 30-Day Shred DVD – over NINE HUNDRED people are singing your praises!!! As a new mom, I don’t have a lot of time to fit in exercise during the day, and by evening, I’m too exhausted to even THINK about exercising. So the 22-minute end-to-end commitment was enticing, too. I figured that I can do pretty much anything for 22 minutes, right?
I received the DVD on Monday and started the workout on Tuesday morning when my son went down for his morning nap.
That workout kicked my butt. Which is no surprise because I’m heavy and struggling to get back into shape. I was SORE SORE SORE by Tuesday afternoon, but Wednesday and Thursday mornings I stuck to it each morning. Wednesday I was still extremely sore, but by Thursday night I was a little less sore. Progress!
On Friday morning, I woke up without back pain. WITHOUT PAIN. Normally when you have a headache, it often seems to go away without fanfare, but my back pain is no headache. Believe me, I NOTICED. I got out of bed without sharp pain, was able to go to the bathroom without wincing in pain on the way to “sit” (sorry if this is TMI), and carried my son down a flight of stairs with confidence that my back was not going to “give out” with sharp pain. I cannot believe it – I am absolutely overwhelmed with the idea that I might actually get my LIFE back.
After only FOUR DAYS of working out, I feel better than I have in MONTHS. In fact, I told my husband that I honestly can’t remember the last time I felt SO GREAT. My posture is better, I feel better emotionally, and I am SO READY to stick with this program for the remainder of the 30 days (which is when our trip starts) and BEYOND. I already eat very healthfully, so this might just have been the missing link.
I went into this program with the goal of quick weight loss, but no matter what the scale says, I honestly feel that I have already reaped more benefit than “just that.” I am stronger already and I feel like I have my life back. THANK GOD. This workout is incredible. I am sooooo thankful that I started this program – it is really going to CHANGE MY LIFE.
THANK YOU JILLIAN!

Good, Solid Workout
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This video is simple, straightforward, yet intense. As someone who is fairly out of shape, it has taken me a couple of weeks to do the video straight through with weights without stopping. I appreciate the fact that there is no fancy choreography or crazy movements; just good old-fashioned jumping jacks, crunches and strength moves, among other things.
Jillian is a little annoying with her military-style “fight for it!” motivational yelling, but it was bearable.
Though the video is short, you will defintley feel like you’ve worked hard due to the constant circuit-movement. I am still on Level 1, but look forward to going up to Level 2 soon. I recommend this video to anyone who is short on time but wants a complete, heart-pumping workout.

I purchased this video to work upper body when I couldn’t get to the gym. I am a runner and I thought I was in pretty good shape. I began on Level 1, with intent of laughing my way through and breezing on to Level 2. NOT. This kicked my butt! I couldn’t complete all of the segments. I just got to Level 3 (I don’t do this everyday)after 2 months and I am still unable to complete an entire Level without fear of running out of oxygen! Get this and work it. You will love it. Jillian rocks-she’s awesome at explaining and demonstrating each move. Good luck.

Jillian Michaels provides a comprehensive 20 minute workout that really works. Her constant commentary, far from being distracting is motivational and instructive. The DVD is split into 3 levels, each level comprising one 20 minute workout. This is a great product and I haven’t even got to Level 3 yet. If you are looking for an exercise DVD that you won’t easily tire from, this may be the one for you.

Kicked my butt
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I purchased this DVD with the intent to tone up after my 2nd pregnancy. I was a little skeptical as to how good of a workout I would get in 20 minutes, but I’m impressed! The workout got my heartrate up and my muscles fatigued. The exercises and position were fairly straightforward. I started at Level 1 and even though I exercise at least 2-3 times a week, it kicked my butt! I love the fact that I can get a good workout in my living room with my just hand weights for the equipment! I’m not sure that I will use this everyday, but I consider it a great option for a workout!

Tough workout in just 25 minutes
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I highly recommend this workout for anyone looking for a challenging workout in only 25 minutes. The three separate workouts on this DVD build in intensity and are tough, but in a good way. Jillian does a good job pushing you to work hard, while not coming off as annoying like other home workouts I’ve tried. I started by completing the level one workout just once and figured I could skip ahead and do level two the next time. I am surprised and excited to say I am going to have to go back to level one for a while. This means I will be able to use this DVD for quite some time!

OK workout, can’t stand the voice!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I have to say starting out that I do not watch The Biggest Loser as I am not a big tv watcher and find most shows a waste of my time. If I had I probably would not have gotten this video since her voice just *grates* on my nerves and I really don’t like it when she says to “look at her girls” as they are exercising. Even my nine year old told me never to do that work out again since “the instructor scared” her. It is an ok workout, although if you do only one section, extremely short. I prefer Jari Love, The Firm, Tracy Effinger, and exercising longer than 20 minutes at a time. This one just wasn’t for me.

Best Workout I have EVER purchased!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have worked out at home for some time now- approximately 14 years and still going. That said, I have a nice collection of vhs and dvd or various workouts from various trainers. Jillian Michaels has always been one of my favorites; but this one tops the list! My sister had gotten engaged two years ago. Next thing I knew, as a bridesmaid of course, it was *gulp* two months to the day of the wedding! WHATS A GIRL TO DO!?!? So I purchased this and let me tell you I have not STOPPED doing this workout even though the wedding is far done and over with. Yes there are ‘only’ three workouts, but for those of you who complain about the lack of variety, well be creative and step it up a notch by adding more weights or doubling up on a workout.
The moves at first seemed so simple and basic. BUT I HAVE NEVER WOKEN UP SO SORE IN YEARS. I am a runner and have done high impact kickboxing for sometime and never in my life have I felt so good (or looked so good!). I see definition everywhere–no tanning bed required to ‘enhance’ the effect! ha ha. Seriously, listen to what she has to say, its just 20 minutes per workout. By the time you get to level 3 (and yes this one does make ya sweat), you will soooo wish you had that water break you thought you did not need.
BEST WORKOUT I HAVE EVER PURCHASED PERIOD.

Had a baby? You’ll pee yourself.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve had a baby in the past year and do not pee myself when laughing, sneezing, frightened, etc, so my kegels are in decent shape. But I’ve done the video for five consecutive days now, and peed myself for two of them.
I read another review that said something similar, so I know I’m not alone. Wear a pantyliner when you do this video.
As far as the workout goes, it’s quick and seemed brutal the first three days. The past two, it’s been easier on me. So far, I like it because the moves are easy to copy (I’m not good at copying complex moves) and Jillian doesn’t act all chipper and fake the way some workout ladies do.
But wear a pantyliner.

BEST Exercise DVD I ever bought
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have been regularly exercising for years but had become disappointed that I haven’t seen much in the way of progress. I also have purchased several exercise DVD’s and become bored after 1 or 2 sessions. THIS DVD KICKED MY BUTT AND IT REALLY WORKS! I started doing it 2-3 times per week and I have lost fat and my arms have muscle definition. I feel stronger and can do REAL pushups for the first time in decades. It is only 20 minutes but you feel like you worked out a lot longer because it is intense. Best $15 I have ever spent! If you stick with it you really will be “shredded” because you will use muscles you haven’t used in a long time. All you need is some 4-5 pound weights. Jillian rocks!

Big Fan! Great Workout!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
First off, I am one of Jillian’s biggest fans. I love her tough love workouts and her way of motivating the viewer. This D.V.D doesn’t have any frilly, lacy components to it so don’t expect a dance routine or some sort of number to follow. This is strictly a Strength, Cardio, and Ab workout. She has a system that she uses known as “Circuits”. This consists of 3 circuits of 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio, and 1 minute of abs. She also has a warm-up and cool-down.
She incorporates arms, legs, and abs when doing strength. So if you are doing squats, be prepared to do bicep curls along with it. There is no rest allowed in this D.V.D which is exactly what will give you the fastest results.
I have owned this D.V.D for months now and when I incorporate it with my 30 minute run everyday, I have been in the best shape of my life. Also, make sure you try out Jillian’s other videos! If the weather is bad, I substitute the Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism video for running.

This dvd is intense. It starts at a grueling first level, then as you adapt you move on to the remaining two levels. I am still on the first level after working out with it for a couple weeks. It is a definite sweat breaker for twenty minutes. You will be sore if your not an experienced strength trainer. You get your twenty minutes worth with this dvd.

Incredibly Challenging
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Wow! I consider myself very athletic and advanced. I run, I bike and I swim and I usually do The Firm videos which I love. I thought I would purchase Jillian’s videos to give my muscles something different to think about — well, let me tell you, I was exhausted at the end of this video. I started with the hardest segment and worked my way backwards to do all three segments in 60 minutes. The wierd thing is, when it started, the exercises looked like a piece of cake, I mean old school type stuff — but they are really hard to do and my muscles were really tired. I’m not trying to scare you, but these workouts really will whip you into shape. I would highly recommend this video to burn the fat and calories — Jillian isn’t kidding when she says “shred”!

First Product Review Ever on Amazon
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have never been motivated to review a product on this site before BUT I love this video. I run intervals nearly every day and boredom had set in. This is a terrific workout — After two weeks my upper body strength is improving and my ability to lunge is a whole new game (running muscles do NOT equal lunging muscles). I cannot give it higher praise – I go back and forth between level 2 and level 3 to keep it interesting (with runs every other day) and always feel like I might die at some point (which is a good thing). A recent NY Times article questioned whether it was possible to get fit in 6 minutes a week (I will suggest that it is NOT possible for me) but in order to make this happen (ex. crossfit) you need to feel like you might die. For me — she gets me there!! Huge fan of Jillian and this video!!!

Pretty Much Shredded in 30 Days!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I completed the 30 Day Shred in 6 weeks, exercised 5-6 times per week. I am not exactly a fitness fan. I workout because I have to, not because I want to. I have not exercised for over 5 years except for my daily walking. I have never been overweight, but also not in the best shape, had flabby upper arms and fat belly.
After 6 weeks, I didn’t lose any weight (was not trying to) but still dropped one dress size, my body is firmer, arms are visibly toned and belly flatten. I was not following any special diet, but I do pay close attention to portion control. Nevertheless, this summer was my first time wearing bikini after 5 years hiding under tankinis, and I am very happy with the result.
Pros:
-3 different fitness level with modifications for beginners
-Efficiency, definitely not time consuming, roughly 25 min from start to finish
-Effective, result as promised, I did look much better within a month
Cons:
It gets boring. After 2 weeks doing this routine almost every day, you’ll know the moves by heart and Jillian’s motivational talk gets old, it was harder to maintain the excitement. Even though this is a very good workout I cannot possibly bring myself to do this all over again as my only exercise. I’d do it maybe twice a month alternating with other short exercises.
I was torn and wanted to take one star off because of the con, but I couldn’t. This is the most effective exercise I’ve ever had without having to leave the comfort of my home. I would definitely recommend 30 Day Shred to anyone who couldn’t find the time to go to the gym or take classes, but still would like to keep in shape, or in my case, to get into a better shape.

Jillian kick butt!!!!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Jillian is like she is on the show. It is tough at first. It says 30 day shred, but I only did it 3 times a week instead of everyday. My muscles were sore for the first week. You need a small set of hand weights and a mat for sit-ups. I liked the fast paced part of it. She changed exercises every 2 minutes. That way if it is difficult, I knew I could last for 120 seconds. Includes jumping jacks, took me back to grade school.

It kicks your butt, but it’s great!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am twenty years old and work out about five times a week. I am in shape and just love a change in my routine. I love doing this workout two to three times a week. It really gets your heart pumping and gives you results without taking too much time. One warning, you must be able to push yourself. I do modify some of the moves because I do not have a lot of upper arm strength, but other than that I do not have any problems. I have only done the first two levels because I am scared of the third, but I will probably move up soon. I have done it with friends who are trying to lose weight, and they really like it, although it is not easy. I really like the organization of the workouts with the 3-2-1 principle. You know exactly what you’re in for and can tell yourself “just a little longer and you’ll be done.” I love Jillian and all of the workouts of hers I’ve tried. This one definitely was not a disappointment and fits in nicely with my workout DVD collection!

With two small children, trying to get this postpartum 30 lbs off has been impossible. Neither will let me complete a 45 minute workout video. And they really won’t even let me do Jillian’s 20 minutes but if and when I can get them both asleep at the same time, I can squeeze it in! She seriously kicks butt. Even on level 1, I feel like my legs can’t take anymore! Even after two workouts, I felt stronger and had more endurance. Don’t know if it can live up to it’s claims of 20lbs in 30 days, but maybe one day the children will let me try it!

I literally just got done my first session with this DVD. Literally must have thought (since, I still don’t think I can talk, I’m so out of breath), about 100 times that I hate her. It is hard. Very hard. I’m a beginner, have no arm strength, can’t do a push up to save my life, and love this video. In less time than it takes to watch an episode of Spongebob, I can get my workout for the day. No more excuses about not having enough time. This will work.

IT WORKS!!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I gained 50 pounds from my pregnancy this past year, and my son is now 6 months old. I have been exercising to 30 day shred 1 for the past month or so since I still had about 15 pounds to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. For me, I haven’t lost more than 5 pounds (but 5 pounds is GREAT for a little over a month!), which is healthy for me since I’m nursing. But on top of that, my body has changed dramatically! This DVD kicked my butt, but it was quick (as there are no breaks, but it’s only a 20 minute workout), and the results have pleased me greatly! My arms and legs look better than before I was pregnant! The abs didn’t do much for me, but I’ve always been used to doing a lot longer ab workouts. The hard work really pays off!! I’ll definitely be going to level 2; thank you, Jillian!!

A Great Butt Kicking Workout
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this dvd because I have Jillian’s two other dvds, No More Trouble Zones, and Boost Your Metabolism. Although I love those, I wanted to try this one because it’s only about 30 minutes total. And I’m the type of person, I want to just get it over with as soon as I can! By no means expect this dvd to be easier because it’s shorter. If anything, it’s harder and more intense. I am definitely a beginner. I have always hated exercise, but finally decided I needed to get in gear. I chose Jillian Michael’s dvds because I figured she wouldn’t be one of those airheady workout people who smile the entire time they’re working out. That type of thing really annoys me, so I figured Jillian would be more my style. I love her! I know she has her “bully” reputation, but she is really very motivating.
I’m on day 5 of Level Two of this dvd. I didn’t measure myself before doing Level One, so I don’t know how many inches I might have lost doing it, but I have lost an inch so far doing Level 2 and it’s only been 5 days. This workout is super intense, but like I said I’m a total beginner, so I think it would be okay for almost anyone. If you have knee problems though, then be careful and don’t over extend your knee. I actually did that while doing one of her other dvds and my knee was sore for a week. But it was my own fault for not doing the move right. When she says not to bring the knee out in front of the foot, listen!! Or you’ll end up like me with a knee pain for a week.
I haven’t really lost a lot of pounds, but I think I have gained muscle. Out of the blue one day my husband pointed to my arm and said, “Hey a muscle!” Which is a big deal, because believe me, I have never had anything close to a muscle in my life.
I would definitely recommend this dvd. I love it even though it kicks my butt and I’m dripping with sweat at the end! Definitely worth it!

Excellent exercise, however language issue in our household!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I am very pleased with the excercise & motivation in this DVD. HOWEVER, I do have a problem with some language that she uses that is not acceptable in our household. She calls one exercise A–[...] (we only use the words bottom or buttocks in our home) and before the cool down she states that, “G-D knows you deserve it.” I am sure that this is not a problem for most people, however, we have a variety of ages of children in our household and do some exercise DVDs as P.E. So, if you have the same standards as us, be forewarned. If not, enjoy!

BEST WORKOUT!!!!

Rating:5 out of 5 stars
LOVE LOVE LOVE this workout!! It is awesome. It is quick, so it works for those of us who are busy with life in general (who isn’t??). It also flies by as you workout. It is over before you know it. You do feel it the next day (or that same night). Jillian is a great trainer; she really builds you up and makes you believe that you CAN do it.
Her method is done in circuts which consists of 3 min of strength (pushups, weights, lunges, etc), 2 min of cardio (jumping jacks, squat with punches, butt kicks) and 1 min of abs. You do this for 3 circuits each. There is NO resting; you may be able to stop and take a quick sip of water but as Jillian says, “you don’t get to do a 20 minute workout and take a break” if you expect results you have to push yourself.
In just a week, I have lost 4 pounds doing this workout.
There are 3 different levels to this. Each gets progressively more difficult. I tried Level 2 and did okay but I am sticking with 1 for awhile longer
My only complaint about this DVD is there is no way to bypass all the fluff and just get right to the main menu. My only suggestion would be to allow that but otherwise this DVD kicks butt!!!! Totally recommend it!

Great work out, too much talk
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The work outs are great. Too bad she talks FOREVER before you get to it. You only need to hear that the first time you go through the DVD, not every single time. There should be a track for people to skip through the talk (because the DVD won’t let you skip the track). Love the work out, but I hardly ever do it because I don’t want to listen to a 10 minute intro every time. Bummer.

Good Explanations
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I really like that you do work HARD for the 20 minute workout, but I also like that Jillian really does a good job on explaining movements and how to do them so you don’t get hurt. Whenever I’ve done lunges in the past, my knees have always hurt, but Jillian explains the proper technique and I’m able to do them.

Jillian Michaels prides herself on being the toughest trainer on “The Biggest Loser.” That might be true, but I’m not sure that’s something to brag about. She seems to be overcompensating for something–her style is bullying, gruff, crass, and insulting. Maybe some people are motivated by that kind of attitude (seeing how many five-star reviews this has….*scratches head*), but I’m not. Her training style makes me want to sit on my couch, eat a cheeseburger, and watch “Newhart.” I’ve been active and fit all my life, but I don’t respond well to condescension. If this works for you, fine. I prefer trainers who are warm and encouraging (though demanding), like Jennifer Kries and Violet Zaki. I’m selling 30 day shred. It’s a waste of time and money.

If I’m writing this, it means I just successfully completed Day 1, Level 1 of my Shredding without collapsing into a weary puddle. I’ve been exercising fairly consistently over several years, on and off (sometimes life shakes things up). I consider myself moderately fit at 5’9″ and 140 lbs, but looking to drop those last pesky 10-15 pounds. I’ve always been the gym-rat type. Never bought a workout DVD before, and never thought I would. But I was looking for something different and had been researching for a while. I read the reviews, and I admit, I sought out the a$$-whooping I just received. I can’t even imagine moving on to Level 2 any time soon. My butt has indeed been handed to me. And I liked it. Let’s see how I do over the next 30 days. I’ll do my best to post updates, folks.

I’ve used exercise DVDs in the past and haven’t had good luck with them. When I saw that a few friends of mine were doing the 30 Day Shred, I figured I’d give it a try. It’s already working really well and I’m only half way through the program. I try to do this exercise video 4-5 times a week. I’ve already lost 5 pounds and hope more is to come. Even if the numbers on the scale don’t change much, the important thing is to feel stronger and healthier. I suggest this video to anyone who wants to feel and look better.

This particular DVD has shorter workouts, easier to do on a daily basis. There are three levels, depending on where you are physically.
I can’t say enough good abut Jillian! You want to lose weight and look great? Let Jillian guide you along!

New momma trying to lose the “mommy” tummy
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am a new mom, with a one year old. I wanted something I could do at home in minimal amounts of time. I desperately wanted to get into shape and lose some pounds. I am 20 days into this video. I have conquered levels 1&2 so far. I have to say, Jillian is very motivating and encouraging, but this is not an easy workout video!! I was in tears after the first day and couldn’t make it through the full 20 minutes. But, I kept getting back up to try it again. It took until day 3 when I could make it through the first 20 minutes straight. I do this video 6 days a week, and jump on my elliptical machine when I can. I have only lost 3 pounds, but I don’t care what the scale says because I have dropped a full dress size! My abs look gorgeous, I am losing the “mommy” tummy, my arms are strong and fit and lifting my baby is even easier now. I love what it has done to my legs as well, my thighs are not rubbing together anymore!!!! I recommend this if you want to build up great looking muscles and strength. I am sure if I followed Jillian’s recommended diet on her website that I would lose more pounds on the scale, but frankly, I am so happy with the inches I have lost! Over 2 on my waist alone in just 20 days. Just know it is not easy, but I have found it highly worth it!

Kick in the butt!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Wow! I just got my 30 Day Shred DVD in the mail today and I was so excited to try it out! I just got done, and what a kick in the butt that was! I consider myself in decent shape but this was quite the work out! I was doing aerobic exercises (elliptical for about 25 min) 5 days/week for about 3 months, but then I started lagging when summer started. I heard a lot of good things about this DVD, so when I wanted something to get me back into the habit, I thought this one would be good! I think I’m at a good weight for me (about 130 and 5’7″), so I’m not worried so much about losing pounds, but losing inches and toning up my softer areas like my stomach/abs.
I definitely like that the various exercises only come in short 30 second-1 minute bursts, which helps keep me going. While the actual time it took seemed very short (really, it’s only 20 minutes!), the work out was definitely intense, which made it feel worth it! The hardest parts were some of the strength exercises. I was debating on which size weights to get to use with this DVD. I bought 5 lb weights thinking that the 3 lb ones wouldn’t be enough. I sure wished I had the 3 lb weights for a couple of the strength exercises! If in doubt, go with the lower weights and get the higher ones as you improve. 5 lbs was definitely too much on a couple.
Another thing, be prepared to sweat!! I was in my basement with the air conditioning on when I did this work out. It’s the coldest area of the house and usually I’m chilled just sitting down there. After this work out, even in short shorts and a sports bra, I was sweating up a storm! I’ll try to remember to keep this updated and let people know how it goes… definitely looking forward to my stamina improving as I continue with this!

Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred
My favorite thing about this workout video is that the workouts are only 20 minutes long. During my first workout I couldn’t wait for those 20 minutes to be over. THIS IS A WORKOUT!!!!!
I would be considered a beginner for the purposes of workout videos. Jillian explains how you can modify some of the workouts to be more accomodating to a beginner. I have knee issues so I had to take it easy on some of the lunging activities, but I totally worked up a sweat and there was no doubt the following day as to which muscles got the most workout.
If you like Jillian Michael’s you will like this video.

I had never heard of Jillian Michaels nor have I ever watched The Biggest Loser. I was surfing Amazon and looking for a great workout dvd and I got way more than I bargained for. All of the reviews for this dvd are in my opinion very accurate.
I am 20 years old, 5’8″ and 150lbs. I wouldn’t consider myself fat but I definitely know that I’m not healthy. I was getting short of breath just walking up a couple flights of stairs!!
I am on my second day of the shred and I can tell you that my shoulders ache and my calves burn.. but in a good way.
Jillian pushes you to keep going! She is an awesome motivator and since I don’t have a reliable gym partner Jillian is perfect. She tells you that “we’re in this together” and tells you that the results you want don’t come for free and she’s right! At one point she says ” I know you want to quit. I know you want to turn off this dvd, but you’ve gotta push yourself!”
I whole heartedly recommend this dvd. If you aren’t sure about it go to youtube and you can watch clips of it. I watched clips from level one.
I would like to lose 10 pounds and trim up all over and I believe that this dvd is going to help me make exercising a regular part of my day.

It may be brief, but it’s not lacking intensity
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have to admit, I was a little skeptical as to how I was going to get a shredded body by doing a workout that only takes 20 minutes. How intense can a brief workout really be? Answer: very intense!
As she mentions during the workout, she makes some big promises with this DVD and in order to deliver, she works you non-stop at an intense level for every bit of that 20 minutes for three full circuits. I found myself struggling to keep up and wishing that 20 minutes was up even before the second circuit began. It was that intense.
Skipping any sort of water break entirely, Jillian systematically goes through each circuit incorporating cardio, weight training and ab work with great precision. Just when you thought it was intense, you start all over and do the same circuit again. You have the option of choosing your level (1, 2 or 3) and only need 3 lb. hand weights, as was used in her other workout DVD, No More Trouble Zones. Believe me, 3 lbs. is plenty!
I liked that I really felt my entire body was being worked and nothing was left out with this series. From my arms to my legs, everything was on fire by the time it was all over. Though I’m not as sore from this workout as I was from No More Trouble Zones, I still felt like I got an intense workout on a day where I really didn’t have the time for a full workout. It’s nice to have the option for a quick, intense workout by popping in this DVD. I started out on Level 2 and had difficulty keeping up; I should’ve listened to Jillian and started on Level 1!
Overall, I would recommend this DVD. It’s brief but intense and allows you to progressively pick up the intensity while not taking up much time.

Jillian is AWESOME.She doesn’t mess around. This is old school pushups, situps, bicycle crunches, plank pose with some tricep kick-backs, lunges…. it goes on and on. And that’s not even the cardio section, she has you doing jumping jacks, her famous “butt kicks”, and punching in place. Jillian, thank you for creating something that really makes you FEEL stronger when you’re done. I know I can reach my fitness goals with this as part of my overall weight loss plan.

Review from a PT – FANTASTIC workout!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’m a physical therapist, so I know how to work out, but I use home fitness DVDs a few times a week because sometimes I need motivation from someone else. I’m very critical of these workouts though; there are only a handful of instructors who I think teach with good form and cueing. This was my first Jillian Michaels DVD and she is absolutely on that short list – great instructor!
THE INSTRUCTION: Jillian and her two friends all have excellent form on every single exercise. I appreciate this because the girl who shows the modified moves (Anita) is very fit and does the moves perfectly – this is important for a beginner to watch! (I hate when the most unfit person on the DVD shows the modifications – that does the true beginner no favors.) I enjoy Jillian’s no-nonsense style of motivation – she gives it to you straight (“You don’t get abs like this for free”, “You can’t rest during a 20 minute workout and expect results”, etc) but she’s not scream-y or drill instructor-y. She explains her 3-2-1 philosophy clearly (more on that in a bit) and she’s absolutely right that combining strength with cardio is the most efficient way to work out. She’s also right that you can’t take a break in such a short workout, but don’t take that tooooo literally…. I do take 5 second breaks between circuits to sip water. All in all she is tough, but she knows what she’s talking about.
THE FORMAT: There are 3 self-contained 20-minute workouts. Each one follows this format: 1 minute of warm up, three different 6-minute 3-2-1 circuits, 1 minute of cool down. The 3-2-1 circuits are: 3 minutes of strength using hand weights(30 seconds of a ‘serious’ exercise + 60 seconds of a compound – legs and arms – exercise, twice through) + 2 minutes of cardio (30 seconds of cardio + 30 seconds of another cardio, twice through) + 1 minute of abs on the floor. The 3 20-minute workouts are designed to progress you through different levels of fitness: start with level one for a few weeks, then level 2, then level 3. In my opinion, this is a well-designed and and very time-efficient way to workout, and it moves along at a nice pace that doesn’t get boring.
Two things I love about the self-contained workouts (as opposed to mix-and-match style): 1- You don’t have to choose between toning and cardio, one workout has both, and 2- Once you are bored with Level One, you don’t just keep doing it with add-ons to do Level Two… you have a whole new workout to do.
THE EXERCISES: The strength moves are basic and effective. I like that they are separate from the cardio moves (you put your weights down for cardio and abs – except in one circuit of level 3) because that’s safer for your joints. They include exercises like (a variety of)push-ups, rows, bicep curls, flys, chest presses, etc, and the ‘compound’ moves combine upper body exercises (like the bicep curls) with squats and lunges to keep bigger muscle groups working and fat burning. If you’re strong, you could use some heavier dumbbells here because the instruction is excellent and the moves are controlled and safe. The cardio starts out as moderate impact – jumping jacks, butt kicks and the like. Jillian does not show low impact modifications here because she wants people to push themselves. I agree, to a point. But people with bad knees or backs, in my opinion, should stick with low impact versions of these moves. (If this is the case for you, I would caution you not to do this DVD if you have never exercised before. Take some classes or do some DVDs that do show low impact modifications – then you can modify Jillian’s moves yourself.) In levels 2 and 3 Jillian makes the cardio more intense – including plyometrics (jumping) like squat thrusts and ‘mountain climbers’. For these more advanced moves, she does have Anita show modifications. The abs workouts are nothing new (crunches, reverse curls, leg lifts, bicycles, etc) but are all effective and well-demonstrated.
WHO CAN DO THIS DVD: Level 1 is actually what I would consider an Intermediate level workout. Beginners can do it as long as they use no or light weights to start, and as long as anyone with bad knees or backs modifies the cardio to be low impact. Level 2 is solidly Intermediate – a tough, intense workout that is not for beginners. Level 3 is Advanced, though an intermediate level exerciser could do it if they follow Anita’s modifications. A very advanced exerciser may want to do level 2 and level 3 back to back. As far as coordination levels, all the moves are basic and well-explained…. nothing fancy here and anyone should be able to follow this. If you’re looking for something dancy – look elsewhere.
BOTTOM LINE: Three well-put together and intense workouts, very well instructed and demonstrated. Something for almost anyone – unless you are brand new to exercising.

I bought this DVD on recommendation of a friend. She, like me, works two jobs and has little time to take care of her body. So, at under $10, I figured I might as well give it a shot – and only 2 weeks later, I’m so glad I did! Combining the workout with a whole grain, protien, fruits and veggie diet I have lost 5 lbs, my body is noticeably more toned, and I even have a great little six pack forming underneath the pudge I have left… I will definitely keep this up for the remaining 15 days! The only complaint I have is that it is a little hard on your knees, especially when you get to jumping on the 3rd level (which I did for the first time yesterday). I may have to try to do the modified moves to see if that helps. Thanks Jillian!

FORMIDABLE !!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
What to say about this dvd ? First when I get the DVD I watched it so I could have an idea about what kind of exercise it is. As a French girl living in France I didn’t really know Jillian Michaels. Of course, I heard about her. And I also bought her two first books, but that doesn’t really give you a more precise idea about how she is.
Well, my first impression was WOUAHH! She is just great. She gives you a lot of bunch, a lot of energizes. She is talking quite a few but every time is to say something great, useful and to help you to go on.
Her explanation is really useful. She had a lot of energizes and I have to say that just to look at her give you the desire to be like her, to have the body she has.
The program is well done. You have three levels. Level one for beginner, level two for intermediate and level three for advanced person. But for each level you have a kind of intensity. You have two people who are with Jillian. The first person is for beginner/beginner (and that for each level) and the second one is a person who gives you another version of the exercise which is more challenging. There is no big difference but it’s still more challenging. For example the beginner will have push up on her knee, as for the more challenge you have to do a full push up.
The base of this work out is 3 -2 -1.You have 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minutes of abs. You repeat that 2 times.
So each level is like that:
- 2/3 minutes of warm up
- 3 – 2 – 1
- 3 – 2 – 1
- 3 – 2 – 1
- 2/3 minutes of cool down
The 3 – 2 – 1 is not the same. You have always another exercise so don’t worry you will not get bored. You don’t have the time. Every thing is moving. It’s just great.
So when you begin to exercise for the first time with Jillian is awesome. In 8 minutes, I was wet. Completely. I feel like I didn’t exercise at all. Forget all the exercise you did every morning when you get up at 6 o’clock just to be in shape. Forget. It’s like you did nothing. The way she thought about her program is great. YOU MOVE !! YOU DID WORK OUT !
It’s a little bit hard when you begin but it’s like everything else you have to get more and more to feel better. Don’t give up even when you feel all your muscle, when you are walking like a cow boy, when it’s so painful just to walk … It’s working !!!!!
Another best thing it’s the time. Under 30 minutes. You can easily fit Jillian’s work during the day.
As for the negative point of view : I have to say that i hate the 5 minutes to Jillian talks before the begin. When you did every morning it’s too long. You just want to begin.
I also say that Jillian didn’t give any advice about the program. Like can I exercise every day or not ? The name of the program is “30 days shred” so do we have to do that every single day ?? I don’t know. And she didn’t say.
Well my conclusion is that I just want to say BUY IT – IT’S WORTH IT !!

Get Shredded!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I know that people continue to say this (over and over and over again) but I must emphasize it: JILLIAN KICKS YOUR BUTT! Now, mind you, I am only on day 2 of getting shredded (I PROMISE to post a review when 30 days are over). If you’re looking for an easy, quick workout…look elsewhere! If you’re looking for a workout that burns and makes you sore (good sore), then this workout is definitely for you! But, I do have to let you know: if you have knee problems, I would suggest trying a different workout. Or, if you have high blood pressure, I would suggest the same thing. Also, after your second workout, you will probably get bored of Jillian talking. No, she doesn’t do that peppy “You’re almost there! You can do it! Push!” stuff (only on occasion towards the end of the workouts). But, she does monolouge. (“Now, why are we using the 3-2-1 method?” “Look at those abs, I would do anything to get those abs.”) SO, I’m going to start putting my iPod on while watching the screen. That way, I can keep up with Jillian but I don’t have to be dying of boredom. I’ll only have to die of soreness.
All in all, I REALLY recommend this DVD and I will post my results for everyone who is still not sure how awesome Jillian is!

Worth every penny!

I love and hated this workout DVD. Jillian kicked my butt the first two weeks but got hooked so I bought her other two DVDs, Burn Fat Boost Metabolism and No More Trouble Zones. I used 30-Day Shred first for two weeks alternating between Level 1 and 2. They were hard for me to do at first. Then I added Level 3 and Burn Fat Boost Metabolism. I work out 5x/week using these two DVDs and consume a net of 1200 calories a day. I will add No More Trouble Zones to my workout routine in about 2 weeks.
I lost 5 lbs in a month and a half. My starting weight was 120 lbs at 5’1. Also, note that I sit and study pretty much all day so I think other people can lose more weight than I did in the same amount of time. I would definitely recommend this DVD.

Hard-core work out
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is the first exercise DVD I’ve purchased. I made my selection based on other reviews, and was not disappointed. Get ready for a very tough work out with solid results. I wanted to get toned, and lose about 6-8 lbs. I started about 3 weeks ago, and lost 5 pretty quickly – adjusting my diet to control calories. This DVD works many important areas of your body, elevates your heart rate, and generally gives you an excellent awareness of what you need to do to get yourself in shape. I’ll be looking for additional Jillian Michaels DVDs that focus on abs and glutes. BTW, my 15 y/o daughter does this too – and loves it. Well worth the 20 minutes. I’ve recommended this to many friends looking for a streamlined, impactful exercise routine. There are 3 levels; I’m struggling through level 2, and I’m hugely athletic – tennis, golf, swimming, running…etc. Get ready to swear and sweat.

I could not get past all the chaos to enjoy the workout.
I wanted a workout with real people … not these plastic factory line dime a dozen hollywood products! Hated Jillian always saying “if you want to look like this you have to do what they do” and the music was awful.

Don’t expect to walk through this one…. Jillian breaks you down. I’m a 25 yr old male and I’m in good shape, but I still get a whoopin every time I do these workouts. Workout #1 is a good quick and easy, but #2 and #3 whip me. I’m always extremely tired/sweaty once I’ve finished. I like this DVD because when I get home from work the last thing I want to do is spend hours at a gym. I use 10lb weights and it really works me. Highly recommended!

Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred
The Jillian Michaels 30 day shred works. I am a 57 year old man and find the workouts to be challenging, but I am able to do the workouts and can see a lot of physical improvements in a short time. I have lost about 40 pounds by eating healthy and excersizing. Since I bought this video I have lost an additional 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I also try to walk a few miles three to four days a week. If you only have 20 minutes to work out and want to see results, then I would highly recommend purchasing this DVD.

Pretty good so far…
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Ok, so I’m just under 5’10″ and can’t tell you how much I weigh exactly because I decided that bathroom scales were the enemy and feel the same way about the doctor, but it’s over 250. I’m a size 18/20 pants and anywhere from a 14 to a 22 on top. (Un)fortunately for me, I’m one of those people with a big frame who carries extra weight well, and I’m tall, so I’ve never bothered to lose weight before. Maybe if I had looked like a complete slug I would have looked in the mirror and gone “OMG! Find me a treadmill- STAT!” but anyways. I have gotten to the point (I’m vain) where I am willing to put in the effort to lose the weight and thought that this would be a good place to start. 30 Day Shred and the possibility of losing 20 pounds in 30 days is some serious incentive to get me started and keep me going, especially with my trip to Florida next month. So Jillian Michaels, here I come (wide load!).
I started this workout three days ago, and I’ve really gotten into it. It gets my heart rate going and I do the whole thing (since it’s 20 minutes and she continues to remind you of that, so I’d feel like a total wimp if I stopped). Hopefully I will get to the point where spending about 35 minutes of my day (including the stretching time) will be habit… And I’ll lose all the weight that I need to get rid of (ahh!). I’m really looking forward to getting up to level 3 and getting to the point where I can do the whole thing without pausing or putting down my weights. Or swearing, but I’m not sure that’ll ever happen.
My only problem is that I feel like I’m working a lot more in my arms and shoulders than on my thighs and butt. I’m all for a good arm workout, since I’ve started to get wings that could make a flying squirrel jealous, but I don’t feel it in my legs as much as I’d like. Part of this is probably that I was a serious hockey player all through high school and still have pretty strong legs and butt muscles under all my extra padding, but I actually can’t do some of the exercises to their utmost because my arms can’t handle it. The plank exercises in level 2 (which I started on today because I thought maybe I’d get more leg action) are really hard but good…. until the last ab one. By that time, my arms were screaming and would not hold me for longer than thirty seconds, and I did the final 30 seconds in the bicycle crunch from level 1. I can’t do all those military presses, either, and switch to biceps curls halfway through (is this bad?). It’s not the weights- I’ve tried it with none- it’s just that there are a ton of arm exercises.
So anyways, I will update with my progress, and whether my arms are able to catch up to the rest of me. Maybe my real problem is that they’re not strong enough to hold my huge self up for extended periods of time… And I’ll update on whether that changes, too. Not the numbers, though, since I am determined to visibly drop weight before I buy a scale so that I don’t get obsessed with the numbers and start being unhealthy (it’s happened before…). My goal for this summer: lose enough weight to be able to shop at non-plus-sized stores. So…. 16ish. Or 14. But I haven’t been a 14 in quite a while.

Good workout, but use caution
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The 30 Day Shred is basically 3-20 minute progressively more difficult workouts. Each workout is basically a circuit (this could be why some have criticized it as repetitious): One part strength training (3 minutes,if I recall), one part cardio (2 minutes), one part abs (1 minute). There are 3 participants: Jillian, a person who does the more advanced versions, and a person who does the lower intensity more modified versions. The footwork in the cardio segments is NOT difficult so for those with 2 left feet, don’t worry about tripping over yourself. The strength training exercises are also straightforward (I wouldn’t say easy, because you will feel it).
HOWEVER, lower intensity does not necessarily mean your feet won’t leave the floor. So, for those with bad knees or other joint issues (like myself) you may need to further modify the moves or just skip them altogether.
Some reviewers stated that Jillian provides NO instruction as to form. This is simply not true. Numerous times she warned not to extend the knee too far over the foot, maintain proper back alignment, etc. But, for complete novices to all things fitness, it may be difficult to remember to keep your back straight/abs in/knees not over the foot/upright row/ all while maintaining a squat position. Now that I think about it, even some more advanced/experienced exercisers might have difficulty.
Other reviewers commented on Jillian’s personality. True, she is not your perky, twinkle in the eye instructor, who bounces all over the studio spreading sunshine and rainbows. For those who prefer that sort of instructor, Denise Austin, anyone? Jillian IS tough. She is NOT there to be your friend or make you feel all warm and fuzzy. She repeatedly says throughout the video that you have to want it. That this is your time, your workout and if you want to be a better you, fitness-wise you WILL have to push yourself. It’s up to YOU.
The ONLY exercise that really gave me pause is in the most advanced workout: The straight-leg sit up. I am not a personal trainer or a medical professional, and maybe current sit up research shows otherwise, but I have always understood that straight leg sit ups can seriously strain a person’s back.
Overall, I think this is a decent workout provided that a person understands and can maintain proper form and knows how to modify exercises that might be difficult for that person.

Killer Knee Workout
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This is a killer workout. I made it 10 days with level 1 and 3 days with level 2 before having to stop. My knees are killing me; I could barely walk afterwards. I Sweat like a pig and no weight loss or inch loss after 2 weeks. Will probably need a very strict diet to see any results. Jillian is very pleasant to listen to and very motivational. I believe in her workouts… just not for anyone with knee issues. If you are young, strong, can take constant pounding on the knees, then this workout will do you good. It is a challenge and a very difficult workout. But if you have any issues with high-impact workouts, or workouts that are killer on your knees, then avoid this one.

Scared to start something? or, Feel like you have hit bottom and need to start working out and changing your life? This is the workout for you. It is not a huge time investment, but is an efficient, fast way to get started and change your body.
The concept is simple, circuit training including three min of strength training (combines small and large muscle groups), two min of cardio (running in place, jumping jacks, punches), and one min of abs (all completed on a mat). This sequence is repeated three times… then you are done!!
There are essentially three workouts on this DVD; level one, level two, and level three. The video states, when you are comfortable with level one… move to level two and so on.
hope this review helps!

Using this video to get in shape after the birth of my son. Love the circuits in this workout…great for short attention spans. The workouts are more like 24-26 minutes long beginning to end, but they’re great. This is the longest I’ve ever stuck with a workout video and I actually look forward to doing it. I saw and felt improvements in a week. I need to add a couple more stretches during the cool down, but otherwise it’s great!

I’m only on day 5 of the 30 day shred, but really like this tape. For the price,it’s well worth it. Routine works abs, cardio, strength and you will start to feel better just a few days into it. I’m on level 1,and can’t make it all the way through yet without stopping, but really like Jillian’s method. You get a little bit of everything. She’s no nonsense, makes you work, and it’s not all about being cute or in the perfect outfit. You do the tape to get in shape and Jillian’s going to get you there!

I have been doing this workout for thirty days now, and I notice big differences. It is a very hard workout, but being only twenty minutes makes it easy to fit into your schedule. Almost every exercise works your whole body at once. You can spend an hour of your day walking with very little difference in fitness, or you can work out for twenty minutes and see your body change!

Not For People With Knee and Back Problems
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I will admit, this is one tough workout, but I wasn’t looking for easy. I had read a review talking about how she liked jumping jacks…and she does. I have lower back and knee problems and so I’m not allowed to run for exercise and I’m not supposed to do any jarring exercises, but I was able to replace those movements in level one with less impact, equal calories burn exercises. After two weeks, I felt like I had mastered level 1 well enough to move to level 2. Level is has a lot of jumping/twisting moves in it. Even some of the beginner modifications are not good for someone like me. I haven’t checked out level 3 yet, but I may just have to stick to level one (which is still a good workout). My recommendation is if you are someone like me who has knee or back issues, you might want to try something else.

NOT SAFE or practical..
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This sounded promising at first, and the reviews were great, but HOLD ON!
Anyone who knows anything about fitness knows that any strength-training routine requires muscles to rest for 48 hours in between sessions. Even if you’re just flinging around 5 lb. weights, your muscles are still being worked and will still need rest. To recommend this video every day just isn’t right. I was a sucker though and figured “Hey, she’s a trainer..if she’s recommending it, it must be ok.” WRONG. The concept of getting fit in 30 days sounds great and probably sells better than a 60 Day Shred. Therefore, Jillian decided to market it anyway. I fell for it and purchased the DVD. I was already pretty fit and just wanted to tone up. I had a few issues with this DVD…
1) A minute of warm-up before strength training?? No wonder so many reviews complain of soreness!
2) Going from standing to laying down, increasing heartrate, then reducing it… that puts a LOT of stress on the heart. I think this would be dangerous for anyone using this DVD; overweight or not.
3) Like I said before, the recommendation of doing this every day is absurd. I stuck with it for 6 days straight until I didn’t feel sore, I just felt injured. My knees had random shooting pain throughout the day and an old whiplash injury from two years ago started to cause distress to my neck and back again.
4) Since your muscles don’t have time to rest, they retain a lot of fluid. I can imagine that a lot of people become frustrated when they see the number on the scale increase during the first week. I gained 4 lbs. without changing my diet at all. As soon as I stopped and let my muscles rest, the numbers on the scale went down immediately. Beware. I’ve tried a lot of fitness videos to add to my normal gym routine, and this one is just not practical. I really don’t write reviews unless I feel strongly about something. Please consult a doctor before doing this routine.

THE workout for the time-crunched!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My main reason for purchasing this DVD was because of the good reviews AND the fact that its only 20 minutes.
Let me tell you all something…these 20 minutes will make you wonder why on earth you spent as much time at the gym as you did.
I was in OK shape when I started this DVD, but could definitely afford to lose a few lbs and tone up. Its been a week on level 1 and already I feel a difference in my strength and endurance. These workouts are TOUGH but like Jillian says, if you want results, you have to work for them. My arms look better, my face looks better, my butt is smaller, and I dont get winded after climbing 2 flights of stairs. I am looking forward to starting level 2 this week. I was a little concerned doing the same exercise every day but by the time your body starts getting used to it, its time to go to the next level.
Im not sure whether its my DVD player or not but I think I figured out a way to skip the entire introduction. I just leave the DVD in the player and the next morning hit PLAY and it immediately goes right to the workout screen. Give it a try!
UPDATE! I am on week 2 and have done level 2 for 3 days (with a much needed rest day after the first day) and I am THRILLED with this DVD! I squeeze my arms and I feel MUSCLE not fat! woohoo!

Great Workout DVD!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Jillian is tough, the workout is tough, it took me a while to actually do what she says. I have bad knees and am overweight, so I just modified the jumping parts, but now the muscle is built up so well around my knees that I’m able to do them a little more advanced. She allows for some modification, but pushes you to do the form correctly. The first month I didn’t do it every day, still felt good. The second month I made a commitment to myself and did every single day like she asks (I could only make up a day missed one day before or one day after. People are saying I lost a TON of weight, when I didn’t, this tape just streamlined my body and I have SO much energy! Now I’m adding weights! Started out with no weights, then move to 3 lbs, now I’m into 5 lbs weights! Yay! =)

I decided to get this because of other positive reviews I read. I am not in shape at all and wanted something that would inspire me to workout and eventually get fit. I have used DVD for one week now, and already I have noticed an improvement to my stamina and strength. I have increased energy and sleep better at night. This workout is tough and does make you sweat. My husband even has started using it in addition to his daily workout routine. It has three different workouts at different intensity levels, which is good for me. I get easily bored with the same thing. Jillian times her comments right during the workout. Just when you feel like stopping, she chimes in and inspires you not to. I’m am usually cynical when it comes to workout and dieting gimmicks, but I do believe in this product.

Great workout, grating leader
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I just started working out at home (duh–who needs a gym?) I don’t have a TV, so I wasn’t familiar with Jillian Michaels from “The Biggest Loser.” The workouts are great–a nice progression of easy-to-learn, tough-to-master moves–and they get very challenging in the second and third levels. After nine or ten viewings, Jillian’s personality really started to wear on me. It’s not so much about health for her as it is about appearance and “jeans shopping.” She’s just sort of grating and bossy. So, now I watch the videos with the sound off and listen to my own music (workout video music seems to suck universally). Much nicer. I recommend this video for the workout but you might want to mix it up with some more friendly instructors.

Just adding to everyone else comments who love this DVD-so do I. I first did this video with my sister in law just to see why she loved it so much. I thought I was going to die but then went right out bought my own copy and have been doing this video for about 6 weeks about 3 times per week (my packed schedule doesn’t allow me to do it everyday) and I have seen huge improvements in my strength, endurance, and I just feel great all over. I am on Day 5 of Level 2 and I feel myself improving each time. I like that Jillian pushes you and helps you feel like you really can get through the excercises. The fact that you can’t skip the first two minutes of introductions on the DVD and go straight the start menu is annoying so I just turn the DVD on while I am still getting my workout gear and sneakers on so that I am just not standing there wasting time. Overall, this is a great workout and if you really push yourself, you will see results right away.

I ‘m hoping I’ll past by the pain soon. If you don’t allow a day to rest then the muscles won’t be able to repair to get the results you need. I’ve done his for a week and can tell a difference. I have been struggling to find time to workout. Time is my biggest issue as I am sure it is for others. This workout is perfect to fit into 20 minutes of my day. It is not a wimpy little workout. You have to WORK OUT! I love that I feel like I had a great workout in only a few minutes. I love how it is broken up into cardio, strength, and abs cicuit. For the price, you can not beat it. You just need some space and hand weights. I memorized all the cicuits and now do them while I catch up on my favorite shows. It is not easy but a great workout. I would recommend it to anyone with a time crunch and willing to change their body for the better. Jillian makes it hard to make any excuses not to workout…which I am usually pretty good at. I lost 8lbs this summer with her help and my determination.

Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This summer I decided to get rid of the sugar, salt, and caffeine in my diet. Minimal weight loss result so far but like the fact that I’m no longer addicted to Diet Coke. Was walking a lot this summer but that takes time. I’m a teacher so in the summer that was possible. Now I work really long hours and am generally exhausted when I get home. I got the Shred DVD thinking I’d try it and see if I could do it. It was REALLY hard the first day but I made it through. Really weird thing is it gives me more energy – not less. I’ve done this for almost 30 days now – not even close to level 3 yet – I was REALLY out of shape but I’m loving it. No, craving it. I’m more flexible than I’ve ever been in my life and can do a few pushups. It’s hard but well worth it.

Overall GOOD but not if you have shoulder issues…
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Basically I liked the workout. It was quick and intense. She fits a lot into the short amount of time. I liked that she combined a lot of the moves. My only concern and reason I will not be using this DVD anymore is its a killer on the shoulders! A few years ago I was diagnosed with rotator cuff syndrome and with some therapy and a lot of time to heal I have not felt the intense pain of that injury…until doing this DVD
I have fairly good upper-body strength (my job requires a lot of carrying over-head etc) so its not like I don’t work my shoulders daily. But it might just be the pace and sequence of moves that brought back that pain. So, as anyone who has suffered a shoulder injury will know, I would rather switch to a different DVD than go through that all over again.
But if you have no shoulder issues then it is a fairly good workout!

You sweat to this workout! It takes a lot of effort but it is worth it, I am already starting to see definition in my muscles after 2 1/2 weeks. The only thing about this DVD is that you are not sure when to move on from level 1 to level 2 and so forth so I have been doing it at my own pace when I felt ready I moved on to level 2. If you are a beginner stick to the level 1 until you are actually ready. Other than that great product!

I am an ACE personal trainer, a certified yoga instructor, a classically trained and certified Pilate’s instructor as well as a board certified neuromuscular therapist. Most exercise DVD’s leave me cold as they don’t have the proper form or are just too ridiculous. This DVD is a total exception. I was IMPRESSED!! This video kicked my butt and the butt of a few of my 20-something students. I bought the box set that has this DVD plus the fat booster plus the trouble spot. An EXCELLENT purchase. Get these three dvd’s plus Brooke Siler’s Beginning Pilate’s for weight loss and Shivea Rea’s Creative Core yoga dvd and you are set for months!

I am not dance friendly & this workout does not have dance moves, AWESOME. Anyone can do the movements without fear of missing count because there are none other than reps. I would highly recommend this dvd, especially those like me who have two left feet. This is exercise that is BACK TO THE BASICS, not fancy, just to the point.

I did this video for 30 days and as a nursing student I ran around alot anyways as a work out. I didn’t lose weight since I don’t have much to lose anyways but I lost 1 pant size so I’m happy:)
This workout is tough and really hard on the back and knees especially on level 2 and 3.
I still give it a 5 star for it being effective on toning the body:)

A great 20-minute workout!

I got this workout as a new mom and I love it! It pushes me to work hard for 20 minutes. That’s about as much time as I have to workout, then shower and get ready before my baby wakes up from his nap. It has different levels to work through and its circuit training so you get abs, cardio, and toning all in each 20-minute workout.

I tried out this workout on our ON DEMAND feature…and then had my hubby pick up a copy of the dvd for me. This workout has eveything I love about working out — simple, old school, real movement and challenging! I love that there is no choreography to learn and love just getting down to business!
I even decided to create a 3-2-1 Pilates workout for myself and some of my pilates clients. We use the reformer, mat, and jumpboard to create a similarly fast paced 30 minute workout!
People who don’t have a lot of time can do this workout and really feel great afterwords. I’m only on level 1 really, but I just did the level 2 today and it was just as fabulous!
If you are interested in knowing more or about how I’ve made my own 321 Pilates workout, email me or let me know!

AWESOME Workout!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have used several workout dvd’s and this is by FAR the best one I have ever done. I have only been doing this for about two weeks, but can already see a change, especially in my arms. This is NOT an easy workout. But if you follow the moves and give 110%, at the end of the 20 minutes you will have really accomplished something that WILL change your body!
Pros: only equipment needed is hand weights, 3-2-1 routine makes the time go by quickly and keeps you from getting bored (Each level has 3 circuits of: 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio, 1 minute of abs as well as a warm up and cool down)
Cons: Hard to come up with any but the one thing that does annoy me is that you have to listen to a lot of talking that you are not able to fast forward through before you can get to the actual workouts. It was good the first time, but I really don’t need to hear it every day

30 Day Shred review
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This video is an amazing tool to get strong and get lean….it only takes 30 minutes with warm up and cool down…(who doesnt have time for that?)beginners can modify the moves to make them easier, either by using smaller hand weights or following Jillians modification instruction…it really kicks your butt, then you find it getting easier, and you move up a level and it kicks your butt again! Then that level gets easier, and before you know it you are no longer modifying moves, you are hanging in there with Jillian on level 3, and it feels GREAT! This is a program I feel I can stick with, and the results are quicker and better than anything else I have tried, which is just about everything! But be warned..you may want to ignore the scale for a while. This program WILL build muscle if you are using 3-5 pound hand weights, getting your protein intake, and doing it consistantly. My “happy weight” is now 125, and it used to be 120. I have ALOT more muscle, my arms are cut up, my abs are SHREDDED for the first time in my life, my legs are toned…and that means I gained muscle weight. My body has a much lower fat content…(I lost 10 lbs of fat) but I weigh more than I used to. I started this because I gained 10 pounds in two years, going from 120 to 130…I wanted to lose 10 pounds. I lost five, but look way better than I did at 120 two years ago, and I fit into all of my old clothes perfectly. So ladies, pay attention to your jeans and your mirror, not your scale. Jillian herself is 5’2, and weighs 120, and is a size 2. Most girls who are 5’2 and a size 2 weight about 110. So dont let the numbers get you down…just flex your arms or your abs after you get them, and remind yourself it is muscle! Remember to get your protein…half as many grams of it as you weigh, each day. (If you weigh 120 you want 60 grams per day) otherwise you wont build your muscle! Buy this video…DO IT at least 5x per week…watch your calories…and be strong. You can do it! BTW, I have only done this 3 months, 5x per week. I noticed a difference after 3 weeks.

Ok, I think I’m relatively ‘fit’, but Level 1 kicked my butt! Love this DVD, can’t wait to do it again, and I’m sooooo quiting Golds Gym! 20 min and I’m done with a workout? No getting in the car, driving to the gym, find a parking space etc.
I also love Jullian’s strong attitude – no aerobic bunny here! She tells ya like it is .. don’t stop, keep going!
This DVD is worth your time

I just started doing this tape. Jillian is great! I’ve only done the first workout. She is great at combining small and large muscle movements. I love the way she keeps you moving, and the high impact aerobics are usually just 30 seconds, so I tell myself I can do almost anything for 30 seconds – before you know it, you’re moving on. It is the best 20 minute workout I’ve ever done (and I have a LOT of tapes!)

I am glad I purchsed this DVD along with “No More Trouble Zones”. I have been doing it 4 times a week for about 3 weeks and am up to Level 3. It is tough but you need to stay with it. I do “No More Trouble Zones” once or twice a week. I can definately tell a difference in my arms, butt, and abs. I do wish it had a little more for legs and outer thighs. Overall, I am very pleased and will keep with it. If you want a shorter, but tough, workout that really works, I suggest you try this DVD.

When I watch the biggest loser, I said I would rather be trained by jillian because she pushes you and the video does push you, but she is hardcore. She just works you out and that is about it. No laughing no nothing, kind of dry but I enjoy that I can do workout 2 and I’m just starting her video. I’m not sure if I would buy anymore of her videos. For someone starting out, there is a few too many squats and jumping jacks, heck for those of us that have been working out, there is a LOT of squats and you have to watch your knees and ankles.

A co-worker of mine suggested this dvd since I was getting frustrated with hitting a standstill with some other workouts I have done. She said I would see a difference almost immediately and boy was she right!! I am now on Day 9, still on level 1 and have noticed a huge difference! This dvd is kicking my butt into shape!! The first few days I thought I was going to die and not make it through but I kept pushing and the work shows. Her book says to do the shred for 5 days and take 1 day off. After my day off this week I am going to attempt level 2 and see how that goes but it’s nice to see results so quickly which is definitely motivating me to keep going! I can’t wait to finish the 30 days and see where I am at, but I have definition in my muscles and my clothes are already fit ALOT better! I would definitely recommend this to anyone!!

Tomorrow will be day seven for me and I’ve already noticed changes in my body. I was extremely sore for the first few days, finding it hard just to walk down a few stairs. But it’s been so worth it! I already had strong legs from running a couple miles a few times a week, but now my legs are pretty diesel. The fat around my upper thighs is slowly thinning out, as is the fat around my midsection. I fit into a size four jean today! This is simply an amazing work out. If you can push it through the first few days of intensely sore muscles, you will definitely see results.

It’s a good workout with a few annoyances
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
It is annoying that you can’t fast forward the video, but now that I know I have to let it play, I just put it in my DVD and get my shoes on, etc.
As for the workout, some of the exercises seem odd to me. Level 2 has a lot of exercises in the plank position. I prefer to switch it up and not be in the same position for three exercises in a row. I really dislike that. There are a few exercises that seem bad for your back, especially if you have lower back trouble. I don’t like the walkout push-ups in level one. If you can’t do a push-up in boy position (up on your toes), it does not seem as effective as just doing modified push-ups. Again, one plank position exercise after another. I don’t like the double-jump jump rope cardio exercise. I jump rope 30 minutes a day, but I don’t come too high off the ground because I don’t think the impact on your back, neck and knees is good. The double-jump roping cardio puts too much strain on my body.
What I like about the video is that I really feel that I had a high-impact workout in a short amount of time. I do like a lot of the exercises and maybe I just need to replace some of the cardio ones I don’t like (i.e. doing “butt-kicks” instead of the double-jump roping one). I also love her ab work-outs. I like the exercises she chose and feel like it’s just the right amount.
I mute Jillian’s talking and listen to music instead. While some people may need to be pushed to their limit verbally, I prefer a more positive approach. The negative “Hey Buddy, this hurts and I know it” reminder makes it feel more difficult than it really is.
Overall, I’ll keep switching around between levels 1, 2 and 3 and replace some of the exercises I don’t like with some I do.

I have been a fan of NBC’s The Biggest Loser for years. I find it is very inspirational for me. I have struggled with my weight all of my life and watching others go through the same roller coaster gives me strength. Jillian is definitely a no-nonsense trainer. This workout is great. It is pretty intense but if you’re familiar with Jillian at all you know she’s pretty intense. I like that it has different workouts and that it is 20 minutes. I’m not a fanatic workout-holic, but I do go through my phases of working out. My problem is that I’m impatient. Like most people, I want to see results quickly so that I get motivated to stick with the workouts; and I also don’t want to spend more than 30 min exercising. I have to say… this DVD was a pleasant surprise. The workouts are short and sweet, but you definitely feel ‘em and see the results pretty fast (as long as you stick with the program). 30 Day Shred is as good as, if not better than, the Biggest Loser workout dvds.

) I highly, highly recommend this video – it’s fast-paced and doesn’t require a lot of equipment, just some hand weights and a mat. I’m ashamed to say that I thought I was in relatively good shape before I started this video – I was so, so wrong. I was sore for three days after trying level 1, but after the next few workouts it became easier and easier. I’m definitely seeing and feeling results, and I haven’t even managed to go past level 1 yet! I’m determined to stick to it until I can do push-ups properly, and then I can move on to level 2.

Feel the Burn
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is the best excercise DVD I have ever used. I typically jog for exercise, but when it gets really hot, in the summer, in Central Texas, its nearly impossible to jog outside after 9AM. I bought this DVD to help me get in my daily exercise, when I miss my morning run. I actually think I burn more calories doing this DVD than I do on a 30 minute run.
The first time through I was very sore a couple days later, but felt stronger and tighter all ready. I would compare the exercises in this DVD to some of the classes offered at the gym, where you use light weights and do high reps.
I highly recommend this DVD, but would caution against doing it if you are an extreme beginner. I think it would be too tough for someone who is not all ready working out.

I am just about 1/2 way through the 30 day Shred, and I am loving it! I love the short but intense workouts that it offers. It makes it so much more doable. Instead of thinking oh man I don’t have time for a workout this morning, because it is 20-30 min from start to finish, I am so much more motivated to say yes to a workout because I know it wont take long. I very glad I bought it and wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Best video i’ve ever done!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The other reviews aren’t lying– this is a butt kicker!! But that’s exactly what i was looking for- A really intense workout that i can actually do in about 20 minutes while my baby naps. I LOVE that there are 3 different workouts. I LOVE that each is broken up into 3 circuits. I LOVE that each circuit has strength, cardio, and abs, and i LOVE that you are never doing more than 45- 60 seconds of any one excersise at a time. This truly makes it so easy to stick to- just when you think you might be getting tired, you move on. I And i also cannot believe that such SIMPLE moves are so killer. I love that she doesn’t waste a lot of time showing you how to do each move, she just sort of names the move and then starts it- so you’re not standing there waiting. This makes it go by really quickly! But NONE of the moves are complicated at all. They are very simple but TOUGH! I got through workout 1, and then started 2 and I am still sore! But in a good way.. i’m feeling muscles i haven’t felt in a long time. I actually alternate doing this video one day and in between- running on the treadmill. It gives my muscles a little time to recover and i’m less sore. I can already tell i am toning up again while trying to lose this baby weight. (Now if I could just stay off the sweets!) Anyway, I don’t think anyone can go wrong with this. Even if you are very overweight, you can do this.. it’s simple, simple, simple, but as tough as you want to make it. You can always do the modified (easier) moves that they show and still get and awesome workout. I am loving this DVD and bet i will be doing it for years!!! My only gripe is a small one- you can’t fast forward through the beginning intro and such, so I just start the DVD while I get my workout clothes on, and when I’m ready, the workouts are queued up to begin. BEST workout video i’ve ever done!

Just what I was looking for
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I started doing 30 day shred in March 2009. This first week I thought I was going to DIE!! I stuck with level one for about a month. I finally got to where I could do it without taking a break and moved on to level 2. Again, I thought I was going to die. By the way, I always take a water break between each section, that is what the pause button is for. I was so sore I could hardly walk. My knees hurt for a month also, but they don’t bother me at all anymore. I stuck with it everyday no matter how late it was. I have even done it at midnight. After 2 months I had lost 13 lbs. Also, I was eating sensibly by cutting back on fat intake and sugar intake. I quit eating before I got too full and never drank sodas. Now, 4 months later I have lost 24 lbs, 6 in. in my waist, 3 in in my chest and 3 in. off my hips. I have gone from busting out of a size 10 to comfortably wearing a size 4. I never measured my arms or legs, but they are way smaller and my arms are starting to show cuts where muscles are forming. I feel like I am in my 20′s again. I am at the weight I was in my 20′s. (I am 39 now.)I also added other biggest loser workouts like power sculpt and cardio max and Jillian’s new ones Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism and No MOre Trouble Zones. Those are really hard and consist of 7 circuits. They are so awesome though. I alternate all of these now and hope to lose a few more pounds and keep my cholesterol down. All of this started in an effort to lower my cholesterol and I ended up getting my old body back, but even better due to muscle tone. Thanks Jillian!!!!You gave me my health and energy back. I feel great!!

I got this dvd deciding that I wanted to start working out, so I was a complete beginner. This is -not- an easy workout by any means. The first few days that I did level 1, I got my butt handed to me. I was panting sweating and completely exhausted by the end of it. Sometimes I couldn’t do everything as quickly as they did on the dvd, but I gave it my all and within 3 workouts, I was already noticing a major change in the muscles in my arms and abs. Like the title of my review, you truly get out of this what you put into it.
The only thing I didn’t like was that you can’t skip the introduction, and end up having to wait around for 5 to 10 minutes before every workout

I was already going to the gym three times a week and then my wife asked me to try this workout with her to see if it would make a difference. 30 days later I was stunned to see how much difference a 20 minute workout could make on my weight and more importantly my muscle definition.
This workout put more definition in my abs than the last year of going to the gym. The results have been amazing especially given the low time commitment. I heartily recommend this to anyone who is looking for a workout video that will make a difference.

I love this DVD! I THOUGHT I was an intermediate/advanced exerciser, doing my own customized bootcamp workouts that I learned from my brother in the Navy, WRONG! Well, I nearly fell over in level 2 from panting! It is intense and exciting with interesting moves…believe me just because I got through level 1 doesn’t mean it was anywhere near shabby. This is my second week and I get through level 2 by the skin of my teeth (and my teeth don’t have any skin!) and level 1 still makes me sweat and challenges me a whole lot! I LOVE IT. I feel like i can accomplish anything (and can) after this workout…success. Get it, you’re (we’re) worth it! Btw, I have 3 of Jillian’s most recent videos and have only done the 30 day Shred so far. I am soooo grateful for this DVD!

The workout is tough but gets you “shredded”. Jillian is much more bearable than what I’ve seen of her on Biggest Loser. She does flirt with her two girls in the background constantly, which is pretty annoying.
I am on day 20 and definitely noticing a difference, though without an accompanying diet there is only so much this workout will do for you.
I was 6 weeks postpartum when I started and I also have bad knees, so I definitely made use of her adjustments for those with bad joints or who are really out of shape.
This jump started me, but being postpartum I haven’t put in all I could – I think I will wait another 6 weeks and do it again.
I recommend this for someone who has little time and is willing to work as hard as they can since it’s only 20 minutes.

This DVD is everything it promises to be; there is no sugar coating and no silver lining. I was a competitive gymnast for 17 years, including 4 years as a collegiate gymnast. Every since I graduated in 2007 I have been trying to find an effective DVD workout. I work full time and am working on my Master’s, and this DVD still manages to fit right into my schedule. It is an intense, interval geared workout that is surely to promise results if you apply yourself. The format reminds me a lot of the conditioning I was faced with as a gymnast. The exercises are not acrobatic, but the interval format is just the same…..and I am here to tell you that the intervals in this DVD work, just as they did when I was a gymnast. My arms, legs, and abs have definitely toned back up! I will incorporate this DVD into my workouts far past the 30 day mark.
*Side note*: Although the DVD is labeled “30″ day shred, I would urge those that are not already avid exercises not to get discouraged. Level 1 is a sweat, level 2 is challenging, and level 3 is just downright difficult, but you don’t have to reach level 3 by day 20. Go at your pace….even if that means sticking with level 1 for 30 days before moving on to level 2. Move when you are comfortable. As long as you are working out at some level (several days a week) and staying in motion the whole DVD through you will see results.
All in all BEST workout DVD I own and best results I have seen out of all the DVD programs I have tried.

Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This video is a great workout. I like it because it is challenging, but not too hard to follow, even for beginners. I’ve noticed with some videos and even with Wii My Fitness Trainer, there is not enough instruction or it goes so quickly you can’t keep up. No problem with that here. Easy to follow, but a good, hard workout that will get you sweating in the first 5 minutes.
I am 5’5″ and about 130 lbs, and I usually do cardio (elliptical/elliptical) about 3-5 times per week for at least half an hour. I definitely feel that I get a lot more out of this workout than I do with 45 minutes on the elliptical. I have pretty strong legs from running/elliptical, so this is a great help to keep me well rounded with lots of work on the arms and abs.
I did level 2 for the first time today and it was definitely tougher, but still, not impossible. Jillian is very likable and I don’t get annoyed with her at all. It would be nice if there were counts for all the repetitions though rather than just the first couple. Also, at the beginning of the DVD there are a few minutes of introduction I can’t figure out how to skip. Those are really the only issues I have.
I haven’t done this on a consistent enough basis to see measurable results, but there’s no doubt in my mind that if you did this every day you would.
Buy it.. you won’t regret it!!

Definantly Can See Results
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a great workout. I have been exersizing 3/4 times a week for many years, alternating between treadmill, jogging, and also using a fludity bar. This is definantly the quickest workout and I can certainly see results. I have not done any measuring but within the first week I could see some tightening and toning in legs and arms. I had to stop last week for about 5 days because I did something to my ankle doing the cardio on level 2 so that is going to slow down my end result, but I am telling you this works. It is brutal. I could hardly walk when I first started, but I kept going and it gets better. I am really ready to move on to level 3, but to be honest I am a little scared because this workout is tough. I definanlty recommend this!

I have never watched biggest loser so don’t have any predetermined feelings towards Jillian Michaels. I have used and do own other home work out dvd’s and go to the gym regularly as well as do swim fitness. I may not be quite as ripped as her, but I’m in great shape. Anyway, I am not an advanced fitness type, so figured this would be good to use at home when I just cannot get out to get some exercise. It’s a bust, and here’s why:
It’s boring and very unimaginative. I didn’t learn anything new in terms of ‘hey that’s cool to add to my work out’. It’s supposed to be a fast paced workout but is pretty slow going at times. Jillian comes across as very commercialized, I don’t know how else to put it – she’s just out for the sell I guess, does she really care if her viewers lose weight and firm up or not? Maybe it’s not her job to care, but at least act genuinely enthusiastic versus a very forced ‘you go get em’.
Her breasts are also awful in the top she is wearing. Honestly that alone was enough to put me off completely. Even if you used to be overweight and look great now, it doesn’t mean that any type of clothing will suit you and look great. Your body never 100% transforms, there will always be some area that shows signs of being affected by your old body, be it loose skin or sagging breasts. She obviously did not do so well in the breast dept. after her weight loss, and should wear a decent bra – she would look so much better.
See if you can rent this one out first – you’ll probably get very bored with it depending on what you are looking for. If trying to mimic biggest loser, maybe it’ll work out just fine. It seems to me, even with not knowing the show, that this is what this is geared towards.

I’ve been doing this video for 15 days now and it is very challenging, even with shorter 20 minute workouts, and is great for gradually increasingly your strength/endurance to proceed onto workouts 2 and 3. I really do feel like I’m getting stronger, and Jillian is very motivating in the video. I definitely recommend it!

Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve had a hard time finding an exercise DVD because I am extremely uncoordinated. I can’t handle the choreography in most workouts, but this workout is perfect! I’m in decent shape (good diet, walk a lot) but I don’t really ever exercise on purpose. I am on day 3 and I’ve been sore since the morning I woke up after the first day, but I can get through the workout (I’ll be at level 1 for a while) without giving up due to stepping on my own feet.
I live in a tiny studio apartment (I have about 6 square feet to do my workout in when I push my coffee table out of the way) and I like to go to work early. This workout fits into my morning routine and my tiny space.
Overall, I’m really pleased and would recommend it to any beginner who feels intimidated by the fancy moves in other DVDs.

I can go at my level, but get pushed enough to feel it when I am done! I love her three minute, two minute and one minute brackets, the variety keeps me putting this tape in.

Jillian is the greatest. I like her style. There are other videos I like and have found useful. Confidence by the instructor was never anything I looked for. I felt, “Here is someone I can trust.” I looked back on some other videos and found them to be trustworthy too.
I have lost a couple pounds. Due to emergencies I have not been faithful to the commitment she asks for.

I heard everyone talk about this on [...] and I thought…sure…whatever. I’ve tried about 10 workout DVDs and each one is either not hard enough or doesn’t show proper form/do the same reps on each side of the body. I used to teach kickboxing at my gym so I learned a lot about proper form and like to really work hard. So even though I was skeptical I purchased this because I’d like a little addition to my workouts to up the intensity.
WOW….all the things people say about this DVD is totally true… it’s FREAKIN’ HARD! But not so hard that it’s impossible….but WOW….it’s good! She’s also great at telling you the proper form so you don’t hurt yourself and showing modifications. It’s a really great DVD workout. Enjoy!

I ordered this DVD on Friday and it was at my house on Monday, super quick shipping. Last year I was paying $200 for a class that was 3 days a week for 4 weeks called booty boot camp here in town. As soon as I got this DVD I couldn’t wait so I popped it in the player. I can’t believe it. I am just as, if not more, sore than I was in that class and for only $8.00 and 20 minutes, Unbelievable. The class was taught by personal trainers and with my wedding coming up in June I was really disappointing I wouldn’t be able to afford a comparable workout. Boy was I wrong.
I now remember what I love about working out this hard, I have been able to feel the burn for 2 days, making me want to continue to work out. Instant gratification is a wonderful thing. And that was just Level 1. I am so excited. Thank you Jillian for showing us that we can in fact work out this hard at home.

I thought this was going to be a ridiculous waste of time. My wife made me do it. I lift a couple of times a week, and lately I’ve been thinking about doing crossfit. I’ve done this workout 8 times so far, and think its great. You can do it anywhere. You only need 2 dumbells.
Because I can do it at home and don’t have to go to the gym it saves me a lot of time. I’m still lifting, but on my off days this is a great way to mix it up and get cardio in. Highly recommended.

I got this in the mail last Monday. I used it immediately. It was SO HARD. I was so very sore after using it. The next day, I felt like I had been hit by a bus. I was extremely sore. It hurt to walk, to stand up or sit down. It just hurt. So obviously I didn’t do it on Tuesday, then on Wednesday, i was still sore, so I rested that day too. Then my sister (who was in the military) said that you should work through the pain, so I decided the next day whether I was sore or not I would do it. So on Thursday, I did it again, again, it kicked my butt, but then I did it again on Friday & Saturday & today Sunday. So in total i’ve done it 5 days now. I’ve been dieting & using Alli for a few weeks now, i just now incorporated working out in with my diet regimen. But I can feel it working already. I am still ready to kill over at the end of the workout, but i’m being able to tell a little bit, that i’m able to do it. BUT i haven’t even attempted to use the weights yet. I’ve just been doing it with no weights, going through the motions though, & that works, I figure next week i’ll probably be able to add the weights into the workout. The end of every workout I am sweating so bad & breathing so heavy. It’s all I can do to just get a glass of water & sit down to catch my breath. But I believe that this workout & my diet I will lose the 40 pounds i’m trying to lose!!

This DVD is perfect for those days when I do not have time to drag myself to the gym or I am just not motivated, because after all, I can stand anything for just 20 minutes. That is the beauty of this….only 20 minutes a day of a totally intense workout!!!! I started with Level 1, and got through it with little trouble. Level 2 is just right for me now – and I thought I was already pretty fit (for example, I go for one hour runs, do pilates, a bit of kick boxing). I cannot imagine Level 3, it must be intense!

I hate work out DVD’s for the most part, I’m not coordinated enough to do aerobic dance-like moves, so this workout is more like a personal trainer is right there with you pushing you to your limit. I hate the disco-like music that accompanies most workout DVD’s, but this isn’t too bad, just keeps a beat to the workout. All you need is a set of hand weights and a mat if you don’t have carpeted floors. Wanna get results and your butt kicked to work off the flab and get a good cardo workout? This is the DVD for you. No whining!

I received my Dvd 2 days ago. The first day was hard, the cardio being the worst, but once you figure out that its only 30 seconds per workout and dont count the seconds, they fly by. The second day I found that doing the workouts actually made my sore body feel better and now (day 3) I cant wait to do the workouts because it makes me feel less sore while doing them. I was weak after the first one, but besides just being sore, after the second workout I wasnt nearly as shaky. It feels great! I recommend this DVD to all my co-workers that are wanting to lose weight. I dont know about her promise to lose 20 lbs in 8 weeks, but we’ll see in 8 weeks!

First off, I’d like to think I’m decently fit but doing this workout video really tested my endurance. The first couple of days I did it, I was literally in pain and could barely walk up the stairs. I was ready to throw in the towel and call it quits. HOWEVER, something made me stick to it and boy, am I glad!! This video will work your core and all this in 20 minutes?! After doing Jillian Michaels for about a month now, I feel stronger and more importantly, I am more toned. Where I used to have flab come off my arms like dough, now I have a more muscular upper body. I keep getting compliments from friends and family and I love it! Jillian does get kind of annoying as the video progresses, but that’s a small price to pay considering the results you’ll get if you do this workout regularly. All you need is a little motivation..maybe a lot of motivation but you will not regret it. Do it and find out for yourself!=)

Loved it, loved it and loved it! Let me tell you I hate working out. Still hate working out and I may always hate working out but the one thing I realized with me needing to lose about 90lbs is that with correct eating I have to work out as well. I used to work out 3xtimes per week doing low impact aerobics and I saw a difference in my body. However, when I started doing Jillian’s workouts, man she kicked my butt! Just the warm up makes your heart race and your body sweat. By the end it I am laying on the floor, soaked with sweat but really feeling good. I have knee problems. Not because I hurt my knee but because my weight is causing my knees to ache and grind. Even though I hate jumping, but I still do it. If a 400lb person can jump and not knock themselves out then I can do it. Some people say this is for more advanced people. No, its for a beginner as well. She gives you the beginner and modified version and you can do it until you have lost more weight or have the strength to do the modified version. So, buy this DVD, you will not be sorry and you WILL see results! Good luck! I will check back in a few weeks and let you guys know how much additional weight I have lost! Go Jillian and thank you for bringing basics back!

I have been using this video to work out for the last ten days or so, and it’s been great! It’s a tough 20 minutes, but I can feel the difference already. I used to be a regular gym-goer, but had totally fallen off the wagon for the last couple years – this has been a great way to get back into fitness in small increments. I was really sore the first two days, but after that, I have just been feeling good!
All the exercises are done in 30 second to one minute segments, so you never have time to get bored of any one thing. Also, as an extra-special bonus, none of her moves make my thigh fat rub together!
Sometimes her chatter gets annoying, but there is an option to just have the music and not the talking – plus, even though it’s annoying to hear the perky motivational statements, they seem to actually motivate me!

I bought this video because I needed a good cardio workout. I had not intended on doing it for 30 days straight, but my husband convinced me we should do it together. After day one & two, my body was killing me, but by the end of one week I saw my endurance and strength improve and I loss 3 lbs. We moved on to level 2 after one week and level 3 after two weeks. I truly felt empowered as we worked our way through each level. We stuck with it for the 30 days and I loss a total of 12 lbs. I now only have 5 lbs to go to get to my goal weight.
The workouts were challenging and enjoyable, definitely not easy, but gets results. I would recommend this video for anyone wanting to commit to getting into shape. You do not have to be an athlete to do this, just be committed to seeing results.

I took a previous reviewer’s advice and rotate Levels 1, 2, and 3. It keeps me from getting tired of the same thing. The way Jillian’s set the system up helps me to get through the workout. You only do each move 30-60 seconds. When you feel you can’t make it, it’s time to switch to something else. I thought I would die the first three days. I could barely move afterwards, but just push through and you’ll be stronger in no time!

Good exercise but lousy DVD production
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I would have given this exercise workout 5 stars were it not for the terrible DVD production. My reasons on the downgrade: [(1) You can't fast forward to where the exercise workout actually begins--you waste quite a few minutes for that to run through itself; [2] you can’t hit “Top Menu” on the remote to get to the workout immediately; [3] the editing job was pretty bad–even if you are in sync with timing, when the on-screen scene changes, the people are not doing what you are doing; and (4) the music leaves a LOT to be desired, and doesn’t match the rhythm of the exercising].
The workout in general is very good, and I like Jillian’s no-nonsense approach (the same as her demeanor on the TV show, although perhaps not as forceful, but still effective). I liked the fact that I could actually see the other 2 women (the harder way and the modified method) at the same time. I am in my sixties, and found the first 2 workouts to be good, but definitely not hard or particularly challenging. I don’t even sweat for workout #1 on a 96-degree day. (I have exercised daily for years, using many exercise videos and traditional forms of exercise, plus working out at a gym.) But I did like workout #3–that got me sweating. I rotate the workouts (a suggestion other reviewers have recommended).

I am enjoying this- my arms especially are really really sore with the 5lb weights and pushups (am still on my knees), and the butt is worked well by the lunges. Am so enjoying my Day 5 of rest. But I don’t feel it in my abs much afterward. Will do Level 1 till I feel ready for Level 2. And I love Jillian and her technique!!! Am also reading her book “Master Your Hormones” and it makes sooo much sense to me.

I was looking for an efficient workout- maximum results in minimum time, and I have it!! I’m not looking for motivational music and frills, but a serious workout, which this is. I’ve done it for 4 days straight, taking a break on the 5th, and hope to do it 5-6 days each week. I always use a trampoline to do the cardio moves- jumping jacks on my floor would kill my knees and would kill the poor people who live in the apartment below mine!

Former state weight-loss winner taking the 30 day challenge
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I received my DVD yesterday and usually hold back comments for at least a month. I workout on a really basis but I still have a few extra pounds to burn. I like the no non-sense attitude of Jillian when I’m trying to squeeze in a quick workout before my other duties in the morning. As a dancer, there are times when I like frilly but not so-much when I’m strength training. Back to the DVD…
From all the other reviews you know that the exercises are basic. The key is that you are concentrating on your form and ‘lingering’ for a couple seconds with each move. By the end of the 1st segment which includes bicycle abs in slow motion, I was screaming ‘Uncle!’ But Jillian motivates you to ‘keep at it and that we’re not going to get body results for free.’ Hearing that inspired me to realize that my burning quads would be just fine later, and they are! I’m in no pain today so I’m ready for round two! No breaks – the title says ’30 Days!’
As Dixie J. commented a few hours ago, nutrition information is not provided in this DVD. There is a website listed for a free starter kit but as Dixie said, you have to order that online for a trial period. I rated the DVD 4 stars (which is still great) because it states on the cover that you can ‘lose up to 20 pounds in 30 days’ which must be done with proper nutrition. Tamilee Webb provides nutrition information in her DVD menu or in a booklet that comes with the DVD. Why didn’t ’30 Day Shred’ provide that from the start? We already bought the DVD.
A few math items – there are 3500 calories in a pound. Depending on level of intensity, the average person may burn 8 calories per minute. If that applies to this workout alone that lasts for about 22 minutes, that’s burning an average of 176 calories total (again depending on weight and intensity level).
Those weighing more can burn more calories per minute which is why it is sometimes so difficult to lose those last few nagging pounds, especially if the workouts plateau. Back to the long-winded math which I’ll direct at myself since I said I would do this for 30 days and report back to everyone. If I burn an average of 180 calories per ’30 Day Shred’ workout, working out for 30 straight days to this would burn about 5400 calories (or using the 3500 calories per pound formula, not quite 2 pounds).
That’s why nutrition information is so important too. Exercise is necessary, but what and how much we eat is even more important. Burning fat also means not providing too much fat in the first place. It was a hard decision to make, but I feel so much better eating a proper diet even though I still have to have a piece of pure chocolate every now and then.
With today’s economy, I’m glad that there are state health/weight loss programs (even competitions) you can track online and Dr. Ian from the 50 million pound challenge that offer FREE tools for tracking your progress and gives FREE meal plans and shopping lists for those foods. Check with your state to see what’s offered or google Dr. Ian Smith.
As a previous winner of a state-wide weight loss competition, I suggest that everyone take a good inventory of their refrigerators and pantries. Decide, like me, what’s more important – your overall health or that ‘high fructose corn syrup?’
This has been my longest review ever, but obviously overall health is very important to me. I’ll write back in 30 days and record what happened. I’m sure someone else already did that, but we’re all are trying to get there together and should contribute. See ya in 30!

This is a good workout, especially if you are short on time. However, if you are short on time, you may be annoyed at not being able to just open the menu for the workouts. You can’t skip ahead through the commercial junk or the introductory pep talk. The music could be a little better, too. But the workout is good. I found level 1 a bit challenging the first couple of times I did it, but I like the short circuit workout format of this program. I hope to get to level 3 someday…

I dropped a bunch of weight by running and using gym cardio equipment for about a year before I bought this video. I wanted to add strength training to my weekly routine so I could work on toning. This video is perfect for that – 3 levels of 20-minute workouts that kick your butt. I am really noticing results, and it is hard to find excuses not to fit in a 20-minute workout. I am also pretty uncoordinated and this is not hard to follow.

This is such a fabulous workout that fits right into my hectic schedule!!! I love the fact that I can get a whole workout in (warm up, workout, and cool down) in less than 30 minutes! I ordered 3 pound weights to go along with the 30 Day Shred. 3 pounds doesn’t seem like much, but WOW!!! They really get heavy mid workout! I use 2 pounds for most of the exercises in the video and use the 3 pounds for the bicep curls and chest flies. Jillian really has answered my workout need with this video! I LOVE IT and it is VERY challenging!

I purchased this in Feb 2009 and I have to say this is by far the best and hardest workout I have ever done. I am of average weight but wanted a workout to tone various areas. In a matter of one month I lost 4 lbs plus a total of 2 1/4 inches doing the video 3-5 times a week. Most of the inches “shredded” were in my waist and hips. I have been doing the video now for the past almost 4 months and I have definite, noticeably toned muscle in my arms, legs, and abs. When I started doing the workout it had been years since I had actually “worked out.” I started at Level 1. After the first workout, I could barely walk down the stairs for 3 days. I pushed through and after a week began Level 2. When I first started Level 2, I followed Anita doing the “easy” version. After 2 mos of pushing myself a little more each time, I was able to follow Natalie doing the harder version. I hesitatingly moved on to Level 3 which I found extremely challenging. But I stuck with it and am able to do more than I ever thought I would. Your body adapts with a little push and you will be surprised what you are really capable of (which is really what Jillian is trying to tell us). Level 3 really seems to take you up a notch, especially in the ab workout. My husband does the workout as well and has also had great results. Forget the gym membership! Add a little cardio and this is all you need!!

Best 20 min Workout Hands Down!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
When you only have a short time to exercise this is the best DVD to do. I always feel like I worked out for an hour and NO OTHER trainer pushes you or motivates you like Jillian. There is something to her approach that helps me not to quite or slow down. No other tape has done that for me. And I like that you progress through 3 different levels, it really help me see how strong I was becoming. I just bought her new tapes, I’ll let you know how they are soon.

“You’re gonna have to work for it…”
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Ok so, I started this about a month ago. I’ve only done levels 1 & 2 thus far, because I’m doing each for about 12 days. Sundays I don’t exercise at all, and the other days I include sprinting/running on my treadmill & some kettlebell exercises, alternating days; I also do some other abs & arm exercises with the same 5lb weights I use during the “Shred.” I try to switch it up to “shock” my body and keep things exciting.
I started a couple days ago doing level 1 and then following it with level 2 (skipping cool down on first level & warm-up on second).
I found level 1 did a nice job toning my body with squats, squats and more squats; in level 2, I started to “hate” Jillian…a lot of focus on pumping up the cardio & working on the abs and arms.
In short, I purchased this video for less than $10 on Amazon & it’s great! My body has definitely toned up! However, you definitely need to work in some other cardio. Don’t “phone it in;” go for it!

I love this workout! It’s easy moves but pushes you to the limit because you don’t take a break! I used this video along with another favorite and lost between 15-20 lbs just in time for my wedding! Too bad I gained some back on the honeymoon but I am definitely getting back to this workout because it was great! I just wish I knew what the suggested meal plans were to make the workout even more effective! All in all, definitely a MUST HAVE!

I tried this because I liked the fact that it was short-its only 20 mins or so. This workout is simple and the moves are easy. No complicated dance moves or routine, just straight forward steps. However, be advised that this workout is tough and makes you sweat! If you want something that’s uncomplicated and simple, yet effective, then this is the workout for you!

I started doing the 30 Day shred about 2 weeks ago. I’m a 5’9″ female and started out weighing 144 pounds. Now I am averaging 137-139 pounds.
I first started Level 1 with 8 pound weights because that was all I had but it was way to hard! I actually went all the way down to 3 pound weights. I did Level 1 for about 8 days and then moved on to Level 2 because I was getting bored with Level 1. Level 2 is so much more difficult. I sweat like crazy and I need to modify some of the circuits.
I would absolutely recommend this workout DVD. I have lost about 5-7 pounds in almost 2 weeks (I’m trying not to weigh myself every day). Its easy to just do a 20 minute video and I saw results almost immediately!

I bought this video after reading alot of positive reviews and to be truthful the bad reviews have to do with the music being “off” and Jillian being “mean”- I love the video- after running for 2 months in the morning I wanted to add to my workout in the evening without going to the gym. Day 4 and my legs are definitely feeling a burn and I am only on level 1!! Eventhough I am beat after this workout I have had soo much energy the day after! Great video! Great price!

Awesome Workout – You WILL Feel The Burn!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This workout will kick your butt, literally! It is a balanced mix of cardio and toning exercises, all targeted to work the entire body. There are three 20 minute workouts (beginner, intermediate, advanced), and you WILL be challenged, and you WILL feel the burn. Jillian is no nonsense, realistic, and will push you. I have only done Level 1 at this point, but so far I really like it! For example, I like that she doesn’t offer the modified version of the jumping jack, stating that she has 400 pound people doing it. And if a 400 pound person can do it, then so can you! The only “tradional” modified exercise is with push-ups, which is definitely helpful for people like myself who are not used to or even like doing push-ups. I have found that I can pump out 20 push-ups now without a problem! Jillian helped me realize through this DVD that I can do it. And if I can do it, then anyone can do it. Out of all the workout DVDs I have done THIS is the best one out there. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a challenge to their exercise routine.

When I first started this workout DVD, I thought I would not be able to complete the whole 22 minutes but as I got used to working out every day, I noticed a significant improvement on my endurance within 3 days. Where before I was barely able to do 3 push ups, after 3 days I could do 10. I feel that this DVD does work you out and make u shred those extra pounds.

Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I REALLY like this workout DVD. Even though it’s only 20 minutes, I really feel like I’m working out every part of my body. There are 3 levels and each is a challenge. I graduated from Level 1 to Level 2 after about 7 workouts, but still feel like I can do Level 1 and get results. I haven’t done Level 3 yet. My only complaint is not being able to skip all of the early discussion to get to the main menu to start working out. Turn on your DVD player, put in the DVD, then go get dressed and get your water. It should be ready to go by then. I also think the cool down is a bit lacking, but hey, if I’m trying to “get it done” in 20 minutes, what should I expect?

OK, so it’s the typical scenario: have baby, gain weight, try to lose it. Only thing is this former gym brat can’t go hang out for 1.5-2 hours when there is a baby demanding attention. Well, dad can watch baby for 25 minutes, just enough to complete this. I was skeptical that it would make a difference and I didn’t have enough time for p90x. Well, 6 weeks later (2 weeks at every level), I’m almost 20lbs lighter and I tripped the other day because my formerly snug pants slipped off my waist!! I did have to diet to push the weight loss, I just had to chuck my excuses and I am simply thrilled.

Awesome 20 minute workout, that WORKS!!!!!!!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this DVD in January.. and have been doing it on average 4 times a week since.. I LOVE IT!!! I like it because it’s not very long yet you get a total body workout. I wake up early to do it..and I feel great all day long. I have noticed changes in my whole body.. I’m a lot stronger, have alot more muscle definition. Now I didn’t lose 20 lbs..but I’m also not on a strict diet, I weigh about the same so I think I lost some pounds but because of all the muscle I’ve built I weigh the same. Jillian says in the video that the workout replaces hours at the gym.. and she’s right! One of my friends told me she tried the video and was so sore, that she actually prefers to work out at the gym for an hour because she is less sore. Well, I like to be sore, I feel like all my effort was worth it..
After doing the video so many times, I practically have every word memorized, so I just mute the sound and workout to my own music.
If you are looking for a quick workout that produces results, you will not be disappointed with this video.
I also mix this up with longer videos on the weekends when I have more time.. I bought Jillians other videos Blast Fat, Boost Metabolism and No More Trouble Zones. They are great as well. I’d recommend anything with Jillian.

I just did level 1 of the 30 day shred for the first time and, trust me people, it is hard. I like that the exercises and movements are all very straight forward – these are all moves that you don’t need to be coordinated to be able to do. I also like that you don’t need anything besides a mat and handweights. That said, you are moving the entire time and it is a tough work out. I can definitely see why this dvd has gotten such high ratings.

I’ve been doing this workout on and off (weekday mornings) for a few months and I’ve lost the dreadful freshmen 15 and then some. Her workouts are no joke and when I’m not complaining about how sore I am, I love every bit of it. If you feel as though this workout isn’t enough, her new videos (No More Trouble Zones and Boost Your Metabolism) are painful, yet incredibly effective sequels.

Not bad but not happy about the vulgar language.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I just got this video in and was previewing it with my 9 year old daughter. I’m a beginner and I can tell that level one will be a challenge for me, so I’m sure that I won’t outgrow this DVD anytime soon. I didn’t enjoy the vulgar slang that Jillian used one time (a word for donkey commonly used for buttocks). I guess that I’ll have to use this video before the kids get up in the morning.
About the Level 1: Jillian works with 2 girls. One girl does the modified, easier version of the exercise. There is lots of repetition – 20 minutes of jumping jacks, jump rope, push-ups, crunches, weights and more. Everything is done at a good pace, and she doesn’t slow down. Nothing new, but Jillian is encouraging. She does seem to talk a little too much for me, but she does a good job explaining how to do the moves properly. The only necessary items are weights and a mat if you’re on a hard surface.
Other than that, I’ll have to get used to her grimaces that I believe are supposed to be smiles, pulling her hip-huggers up nearly the whole time, and somewhat of a manly attitude and tough-girl antics. Fortunately, she doesn’t shout and this is a major plus.

I bought this DVD to get back in shape after having a baby. It really works!!! I thought I was in pretty good shape going into the pregnancy and after and Jillian really kicks your butt. I have been using it for about 4 months now and I have been able to shred the baby weight plus some extra pounds I have been trying to get off before the pregnancy.
I have worked out to all three levels in her workout plan and they are all good. They do get harder, but I go through all three of them throughout the week to focus on different muscles.
I would reccommend this DVD to anyone trying to jumpstart their workout, trying to start a new exercise plan or drop a few extra unwanted pounds. Even if you are in the best shape it is worth the $10 if not more than that! I would have paid double to get the results I have seen.

Ready to throw all my other workout DVDs away
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Let me start by saying: 1) I’ve never watched The Biggest Loser; 2) I’ve never been overweight; and 3) I’m in great shape, a gym and workout addict who definitely never “phones it in.” Before I got pregnant last year, I was hooked on long, hard workouts — kill-myself cardio and serious weights. I kept in good shape throughout my pregnancy, too, with regular 45 minute sessions on the arc-trainer, and as much strength training as I could handle. But after my daughter was born, I suddenly found that I didn’t have time to get to the gym any more — much less for 2 hours like I used to do! (Who would’ve guessed?) 3-1/2 months later, I can still pound out a good 5 mile run when my husband hangs with baby on the weekends, but I’m not able to get my every day fix…and I’ve still got 15 pounds of baby weight to lose.
I didn’t think it was possible for a 20-minute workout to challenge me, but this one DOES. I was able to do everything on Level 1 with no serious problems, and felt exhilarated (and sweaty) afterwards…and I was SHOCKED by how sore I was the day after — every muscle hurt, in a good way. After 2 days of Level 1, I tried Level 2, and found myself grunting with exertion and swearing at the screen.
Make no mistake — this is a tough workout. It’s not FUN, or FANCY. The moves are very basic, they’re just HARD. After trying a bunch of workout videos filled with fluffy, impossible-to-follow “dance moves” that barely get my heart rate up, this is just what I need. Planning on buying all the other Jillian videos immediately!

I must say after pregnancy, marriage, I’ve allowed myself to get complacent in life and before the big 3-0 I’ve vowed to get back in shape for myself and my family. I just recently ordered this dvd and all I have to say is that my muscles are being worked. Jillian Michaels does not play and with the repetitive routines you would think that it would be boring or that you would’nt benefit from it, but so wrong. I love the fact that she has both her asisstance showing you two forms of variations for those that are beginners and for the advanced. Looking forward to the transformation.

I really enjoyed this workout, I workout about six times a week for an hour and thought I would find this workout super easy (especially the level 1) I was pleasantly surprised that it is difficult and incorporates activities I have been neglecting in my workouts (like push ups). My only qualm is that it is only 20 minutes (at least there are three 20 minute workouts so you can theoretically do more)but I would prefer a 45 minute workout. All in all though I think this workout is really good, though I will do it in conjunction with about 45 mins on the elliptical just to get the calorie burn up. I would say that the difficulty is on par (if not slightly more difficult) with most of the turbojam workouts. I would definitely recommend this DVD!

Prepare yourself mentally before doing the first level because it’s not easy and wear good shoes.
I have been using the video for two months now and I feel stronger. I’m sure I’ve lost a few pounds already. I switch between levels 1 and 2 to make it more fun and I tell you it doesn’t get any easier. I use 5-lb weights that seemingly become heavier as I move on to the next circuit. There is also a sense of accomplishment after.
Highly recommended.

Knee problems? I disagree with her mods. But I love this workout.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Jillian is no-nonsense and doesn’t waste your time with chirpy banter. She gives modifications for many of the exercises and is super easy to follow. This DVD has no strange or difficult moves. It is built on basics and the only gear it requires is small hand weights. I’m an experienced gym-goer and found level one to be sufficiently challenging to keep me there daily for a week before moving on. If you have knee problems, I’d suggest further modification of the jumping cardio moves. Even if you substitute the bouncing motions for stationary boxing while walking briskly in place, you can still get great benefit from this workout. I’d give it 5 stars, but have to disagree with Jillian on two things: 1. She mods the squat and lunge moves in a way that creates knee problems by suggesting you go part way into the move. This is hell on the knees. If you go all the way down, you will use your largest muscle, the Gluteals, and your hamstrings to power back up. This takes stress OFF the knee. To mod this for beginners or those with knee issues, I would say do full squats but slow down and decrease the reps until you build strength. 2. She makes a big point to discourage EVERYONE from modifying jumping jacks. I think if your knees hurt, skip jumping jacks. There are plenty of simple ways to get the heart rate up without jumping and I think people should be encouraged and motivated to do what they can rather than be made to feel inadequate or guilty for wanting to avoid jumping. Other than that, I do love her personality and approach and am loving this workout. If you did this daily and also got some brisk outdoor exercise in, you’d be well on your way to experiencing results right away.

Kicks my butt
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Hi all,
I just got this, last night 4/1/09. I just got through doing Level 1 and it kicked my butt. I had to do the modified version on some of the exercises and had to lose the weights on some of them also. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and do about 40-60 minutes on cardio. This video just proves to me how out of shape I really am. I was sweating like crazy and out of breath doing this video. Jillian knows what she is doing. I have been also doing some other videos that she has on Netflix. We can add it to our instant queue and watch it on the TV and those also kick my butt. I got this video for a few reasons,it had so many reviews but also because I am not going to the gym as much because I have a little boy and I go to a military gym and they don’t have daycare and because I hate working out with so many men. No offense. And gym memberships cost a fortune and I wanted to try something like this before I wasted my money on a gym membership. I so far am very thrilled with this DVD and looking forward to do more of it. I will update when I have done it for a little while longer.
Update: 4-14-09
You got to make sure you do the moves correctly. I tore up the tendons in my knees so bad that I had to go to the Dr. I am sure this is entirely my fault. I thought I was doing everything right but I guess not. There is a lot of jumping so be wary of that. I still love this DVD and my legs are getting better so I will be back at it soon.

Helped me to get into shape, but taxing over time
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I used this DVD 5-6 days a week for about 5 weeks, alternating between the levels. It helped me tremendously as far as getting into shape. The first time I did it I almost puked, but it became do-able after only a few days. My body changed quickly and my endurance improved with every workout.
I would have given a raving review a few weeks ago, but over time these workouts really took a toll on my knees and shins. Before I bought the DVD I read reviews advising it against people who had any sort of knee problems, which I did not have, so I didn’t think anything of it. But over time the jumping jacks and whatnot became painful. Not muscle building pain, but injury pain. About a week ago I decided to stop and switch to a different DVD that is lower impact and the pain is slowly going away.
So in conclusion, I think it’s a great workout to get into shape quickly, but over time it was just way too painful for my knees. I would not recommend using it every day, perhaps only a few times a week. Always wear sneakers for support. Ultimately I would rather use a lower impact workout that will not hurt me in the long run.

But after about a week I completed the entire 20 minutes of Level 1 without having to stop & catch my breath (there’s 3 Levels)! It’s still very challenging but you have to push yourself through this! I think maybe after another week I will try Level 2. And Jillian is motivating in this DVD more than you would imagine. 5 stars for this DVD!

Simple, fast, invigorating
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this because I was looking to build muscle and I am seeing really good results. I haven’t been keeping track of my weight (not looking to lose any) so I can’t comment on that part.
I like that it does not require tons of room or props. Since it comes in 20 minute blocks, it’s easier to convince myself to suck it up and do it every day, because I don’t have to carve out an entire afternoon or rearrange my schedule. The moves are all fairly simple ones everyone is familiar with: jumping jacks, push-ups, crunches, etc. You do each move in 30 sec-2 minute bursts so you don’t even have time to get sick of crunches!
The people complaining about her style being too harsh or the music being annoying.. just hit mute! Sometimes I want to listen to something else, too, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to forego working out.
Highly recommended. I feel healthier, my muscles have strengthened, and I can be confident that I’m always getting in at least *some* exercise every day.

dvd skips
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I originally submitted a good review for this product to the seller but have changed my opinion completely as the dvd is terrible condition and I cannot even use it because it skips and gets stuck every 15 seconds. It is not dirty just damaged and it was a waste of my money!!!

“Killer” Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Wow! Jillian is amazing! Even her beginner’s workout kicks my BUTT! She is awesome. Have faith, friends and fans. Follow Jillian. She will get you into shape. Don’t expect it to be easy. Anything worth having is rarely ever easy to obtain, but Jillian can get you the bod you have been wanting… or missing.

It works!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was skeptical at first how a DVD could make a difference, but let me tell you it had!! I have been doing this for about 2 months now, 3-4 days a week and I have lost over 20 pounds! (combined with longer cardio workouts and eating well )I am seeing muscle definition in my arms and legs I have never gotten from working out on my own. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to lose weight and tone up!!

Very Pleased
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’m very pleased with this DVD and am happy I purchased it. I’m just starting to get back into shape so Level 1 is still a bit of a challenge for me. I love that it gives me room to grow.
I have some complaints though. The warm-up and cool-down are both lacking but I understand it’s because the actual workout is supposed to be short. I have to find ways to supplement both. Secondly, I find it awkward to come to a complete stop as Ms. Michaels does in between moves. I modify this by marching in place or continuing the previous move and fluidly joining it to the next.
Overall, this DVD is well worth the money. I highly recommend it.

30 day shred – jillian michaels
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I never bought any of Jillian’s workout dvd’s before. I love this workout. There are 3 levels and you can pick any one you want to do. The workouts are only 30 minutes each, but they are awesome. You can feel the burn and know that you are getting a good workout. There is one girl that is doing the low impact workout and another girl doing the higher intensity workout. Jillian is just like having the real thing from “The Biggest Loser”. It makes her more real. I feel that the information on the back cover is very informative.

30-Day Shred is very effective!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Jillian Michael’s 30-Day Shred workout video is superb! I love that it is fast (20 minute workout and you’re done) and effective. Her circuit training approach of strenght, cardio and abs keeps the workout moving and helps work your body in three different ways to get the most benefit out of your workout! I appreciate that there are three workouts on the video so that when the first workout gets easier you can move up to the second more challenging workout and then on to the third as you progress! I would recommend this video to anyone looking for a challenging but effective workout!

What a work out!

I had a little trouble with delivery but i contacted the seller and fix everything. Even sent me an extra work out video. The video itself is great if you still with it.. u will see the results. I have to do it off and on cause sometimes life is just busy. But it is totally worth it. I could tell something was different even after a week. And I an very active!
