Great upright exercise bike–with terrible assembly instructions!
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This would be a five-star rating, were it not for the nearly incomprehensible assembly instructions. Fortunately, Masai Fitness has an online assembly video that nearly makes up for the awful printed instructions. I say ‘nearly’ because several important steps are glossed over in the video instructions: you see the beginning of an assembly sequence, then they cut to the finished step. Pausing and rewinding several times generally solves this problem. Read the printed assembly instructions first, just for laughs, then run the online video, pausing to complete each step, and you should be able to assemble the bike in 45 minutes to an hour (two people can assemble it faster). Once assembled, however, the bike is a dream! Lightweight and compact, yet sturdy, easy to ride and whisper quiet, the bike more than justifies its slightly elevated price over similar models. There is no bottle holder, built-in fan, or reading rack as with similarly priced units. I bought a water bottle holder and fastened it to the upright with foam-backed tape and short hook & loop straps to secure the holder. I’ll do without the fan (I have an overhead fan that does just fine), or reading while riding, opting instead to watch golf or tennis on TV, listening to an iPod, or viewing any of several excellent virtual bike riding DVDs on TV. The full-featured control unit works perfectly, with manual control, in addition to ten preprogrammed sequences, user-defined programs, heart-rate monitor, target heart rate program, watt and calorie counters, body fat measurement, and pulse recovery. The available resistance levels and variety of programming options are more than enough to give a rewarding, heart-pounding ride in the comfort and safety of your home. Highly recommended, with one star deducted for poor assembly instructions.
