The best part of this product is the door attachment. I was able to do trunk curls, tricep extensions, that I would otherwise need a pully machine for. But as a woman I found the resistance quite high. I would say this is on the high end of medium resistance.

This is a great product for the money and serves its purpose.
The handles are basic but I’ve had no problem, and use it daily.
Was surprised and impressed at how effective is the door attachment.
Very simple and basic but it adds greatly to effective exercises available.
Note that it is best used with a pretty solid door as it fits into the door jam and the door is closed to hold it.

I purchased the purple (very heavy) resistance bands and quickly found out they do not offer as much resistance as I would have liked. Maybe these resistance bands are catered more towards girls? At least the build quality is solid.

Great Product for Toning at Home!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this product from amazon after using it at the gym in a class. It is the perfect, inexpensive way to do a variety of exercises for toning many muscle groups at home! I like to use mine with a stability ball for additional benefits! This product is well made and I haven’t had any problems with it so far! It also comes with some handy suggested exercises! It isn’t the same type of exercise as free weights, but can be very beneficial in its own right for isolating and toning certain muscle groups. I am pleased with my purchase!

I don’t consider myself to be very fit. Even so, I found that the red tube didn’t offer much resistance.
After much use, I can say I prefer free weight exercises. To me, using the resistance band just feels clumsy.
I suppose if you don’t have much money and/or you prefer a more portable piece of exercise equipment, the resistance band is a good choice.

Hubby and I both weight lift and have tried all the other brands. This is the only band that hasn’t broken on us within a couple of uses. The exercise charts are not very useful, but for those who need an easy alternative to storing lots of weights when traveling or stuck at home and know how to use the bands, they are great.

Simple way to do resistance exercise training. The door attachment easily jams in a closed door to allow the tubes to be used for top-down exercises. Despite all the hype over the fancy exerciser systems, the Xertube Resistance Bands are a great way to exercise. Easy to pack, they allow you to keep up an exercise routine while traveling.

Nice item for travel and/or to supplement full workout
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This works very well for me. Its great when traveling to maintain fitness since it weighs about a pound, and I use it as part of a weight and aerobic workout at home as well. It is a nice change of pace and allows you to do some expercises not easily done on equipment. As another reviewier rightly observed, its not a substitute for heavy weights to failure. Its a high rep toning device that will mininimize backsliding when you cannot work out otherwise and add to a full workout with a little something different. For the price it certainly earns its keep.

Review for the SPRI ES502R Xertube Resistance Band with Door Attachment and Exercise Charts (Blue, Heavy)
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The resistance band is a great and effective free weight workout. It comes with designed exercise to use the full potential of the band. And also with a door attachment which also increases the range and varieties of workouts. Great to use on the go or when your looking for a short workout if your on time demand. But the only complain i have on this is that i should’ve bought the purple one which is the heaviest.

I got this band and at first thought I was going to return it. I thought this because the band had a little more resistance than I was planning for, but after a while it gets warmed up and starts to release a little bit of tention. Just make sure you get the right strength when you buy, since the medium is a little tighter than I anticipated. Over all, I give this product a good rating

Excellent resistance tube
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased my two Spri resistance tubes from a local sports equipment store for almost twice as advertised on Amazon.
This tube(purple) is more than adequate for the mid-experienced trainers. Recently, I injured a shoulder at the gym and had to take some time off from heavy lifting so i started using this at home for the last several months and the results are quite impressive. I use this mainly for upper body workouts, but it can also be used for lower body as well.
If you use both handles per arm and reduce the length of the tube, you can get close to 70-80 lbs of resistance. This is useful for curls, shoulder press, lat workouts and others that require higher resistance. Just remember that you need to use the door attachment for several of these workouts.
Things I like:
1.)High potential for increasing resistance to 80+ lbs(using both handles).
2.)Overall good quality product EXCEPT for the plastic handle. It can bend once you increase the resistance to 80+ lbs.
3.)Portable
4.)Useful for all major workouts(arms, shoulders, chest, back, legs).
5.)Door attachment works well as long as you use it properly.
6.)Inexpensive
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. Good luck

Good Cheap Band
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
We bought the Red, Blue and Purple bands to use with the P90X video series (which is awesome). These fit the budget and so far have been decent, quality bands to work with. There are only two things I would like to see improved, based on other bands I’ve seen: 1. Fatter handle. When you are used to working with free weights, these handles feel like pencils in your hand. 2. Better door adapter. The door adapter has a relatively small stopper, allowing it to slip through the door frame if it is not closed in properly – if there is a gap when the door is closed, this thing can come back and snap you in the face. But close it along the hinge-side and you should have no problems.
As some others have noted, the purple is not incredibly heavy. I use it for triceps extensions and have to put a huge loop in when I’m working biceps. The key to bands is to move slowly and steady and squeeze the heck out of them at the top of your rep. Really engage the muscle and hold it for an extra second or two at the top, and bands can be an effective tool – especially on the road/in a hotel when space is at a premium. Bands are not a replacement for weights, but they do have their role in a complete home gym.

Definitely helps with my strength and resistance training. It’s a bit stronger than I realized it would be, but it’s still great. If you’re just starting out with resistance training, start with the lighter resistance, but if you have been working with resistance bands for a while and would like to increase your resistance, this is a great band to work with. I highly recommend it. The door attachment is a really cool feature too.

Great for travel
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I really like these bands for travel workouts. They take virtually no space in your bag and provide enough resistance for a respectable workout. It’s hard to quantify how much weight each one represents. For a thorough workout for each muscle group, it pays to get the extra heavy, heavy and medium bands. Honestly, it’s good for some muscle groups, like the triceps, biceps, shoulders and even the back. I haven’t used the door attachment, but for the chest, good old-fashioned pushups will do the trick on the road, won’t they? As you adjust your foot position on the rubber, you increase or decrease the resistance. Certainly worth the money, as many hotels have sub-standard guyms and 15 minutes with these bands can work you out just fine.

A great addition to my at-home gym
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My husband and I recently dropped our memberships at the local gym and purchased fitness equipment to work out at home instead. Though we do have a Bowflex-style machine, I doesn’t have quite the versatility that a resistance band has. I was pleasantly surprised to see a sheet included with demonstrations for exercises to use with the resistance band–I had already printed some from the Internet!
I decided to start out with the medium level of resistance, but feel I will be graduating to a higher level of resistance in the near future for more of a challenge. The bands provide a different workout than free weights, which I also like.
The door attachment really is the key to adjusting the workout and targeting specific muscles. I can take this with me anywhere and I go, and get a full-body, quality workout. I highly recommend this product.

THE most versatile, flexible, and portable fitness equipment ever made
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Resistance Bands are THE most versatile, flexible, and portable fitness equipment ever made!
You can do any exercise, anytime, and anywhere with them. I carry my babies wherever I go.
I do them in classes, meetings, and movies.
Resistance band s is the most economical resistant equipment out there, since you can just buy a light, medium, and heavy band for all your needs. Simply combine the bands together to create different variations of intensity! Use the resistance bands with the stability ball, stability disc, and bosu balls for even greater workouts.
Just make sure you check the anchor you are wrapping the resistance band around before you do the exercise. Once, I put the resistant band on a door knob, and it slipped out and almost took out my eye. Also, check to make sure there are no tears in your resistant band. Safety first.
If you don’t feel the burn after 10 repetitions, you are doing the exercise wrong. In all exercises, it is the eccentric portion of the exercise that builds muscle. Do the exercise in a smooth, controlled fashion with a 3 concentric and 6 eccentric count. Squeeze at the peak of the motion to get that extra pump.
As in all exercises, make sure to keep your wrists straight and check your posture with these seven vital points: feet hips-width apart and pointed straight ahead; knees slightly bent; pelvis at perfect middle, as if you are sitting at a bar stool; stomach tight, but not flexed; chest straight and aligned on top of ribs; shoulders parallel to ribs; and neck straight on top of body.

We ordered this as a replacement to a Harbinger band we’d bought that broke. This is working our really well. Great Product
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased these after reading the positive reviews. Have been wanting to buy them as an alternative and mostly for lower body workouts. I am a female not trying to bulk up if that matters to anyone.
I first bought the red based on my guess of moderate fitness level. I guess I’m not there yet bc I felt it to be too resistant to do 15 reps of leg abduction and adduction. I think I’ll put the red one to use down the road. So I decided to also buy the yellow and green one. I haven’t taken the yellow out of the pack and almost think it might be a waste but maybe I can double up the tubes to vary resistance. I’ve been mostly using the green one now with door attachment for adduction and abduction. Only maybe minor neg is that the handle around your ankle and pulling it sideways might be uncomfortable. I’m going to try the foam or wrapping a sock to remedy that. No noticeable handle issues using the band for other exercises. Overall I am satisfied with the quality of the product but I’ve only had a chance to use it for a month so far.
Edit 3/30/09: Since I wrote the review I’ve transitioned to the red tubing for lower body. I waited a few weeks before writing initial review so it took a few weeks but not long for my initial guess that the red tubing would be appropriate for intermediate fitness level for female. I hope this doesn’t confuse anyone! I’ll have to check if green will suffice for upper body workout (currently using 5 lb dumbbells.)

Great product – know what you want
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I wanted to write this review to help others know more about this product because when I was looking around I was kind of in the dark. I ordered 3: the purple extra heavy, blue heavy, and red medium. I’ve worked out a lot off and on in the past with actual weights, and I’m always moving around, so this was just what I was looking for. Of course, how tall you are will make a difference, as taller people will have more tension in the bands when they are being stretched (if you’re standing, of course, which is a lot of exercises). I’m 5’10″, and unfortuantely my purpose in working out is to build muscle, as I’m kind of on the skinny side. The purple band isn’t for “extremely fit” people, but it does offer a good amount of resistance. Here’s a general guideline of what I found, based on my previous experience with weights:
If I double the purple band (grab both handles at once) and do one arm rows on a chair, depending on where you step on it, you can get a good 40-50 lbs resistance.
If you have one foot on the blue heavy band standing up, and doing curls, it’s about 15-20 lbs each hand.
If you step on the red medium tube about 6-8 inches from the handle and do one arm extensions over your head, it’s about 15 lbs
Again, these bands are very variable. You can increase the amount of tension by stepping closer to the handles, and by holding two bands at once, holding both handles at once, etc.
I would even recommend the green I think or the smaller ones for exercises such as lateral raises and for the rotator cuff, as stepping with one foot on the red tube while standing up, and raising both shoulders outwards provides a good 10-15 lbs.
Chest exercises are kind of awkward with this, my door frame is super weak so I don’t use the door attachment but I tried what was in the instruction manual and am sticking to pushups.
Also it is great for developing stability, it’s a lot harder to keep a stable motion with a cord than with an actual weight.
All in all, I would highly, highly recommend this, but if you’re already benching 150+, this is probably just going to keep you toned, but you could probably build the smaller muscles. Also depends on how many handles you can grab at once or how good your grip is if you grab the actual cord.

Could do a lot more exercises than I thought
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Purchased the Xertubes (red and blue) because I travel a lot and don’t want to lug around free weights. Quality is very good – no complaints at all. Resistance level is decent but I would expect that you’ll move beyond that level in a short time if you’re exercising regularly.
Found several ways to modify the exercises shown in the pamphlet so that it isolated muscles better. For example, working the abdomen, sit in a chair without a back or low back and perform crunches AND oblique crunches much easier than from the kneeling position. Put the door attachment over the top of the door to get better clearance between the bands and your body – noticed the difference right away working the abs. That works for a couple of the back exercises as well. Since I received two door attachments (one for each band), I also separated them by a foot or so in door jamb (from the top of the door) – this took up some of the slack and increased the resistance at the beginning of the exercise.
It can’t be beat for convenience when traveling and you can get a decent work out with them.

This product couldn’t be easier to use. You can either step on the band or use the included strap to close it in a door. Either way, it is simple and effective. The green version is listed as “light”, and it might not be challenging enough for many people. Although I feel like I am getting a decent workout with it, I don’t think it will be long before I buy the next harder version. If your arms are strong enough to lug groceries and/or kids around, consider getting the next one up.

I would have given this product a 5 star if it wasnt for the missing door attachment that never came with my order.
I was pleasantly surprised at the resistance this purple band gives me.
If you cannot lift 15-20 pounds with freeweights comfortably, I recommend you get a resistance a bit lower than this one.

Good for travel
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have a workout dvd that incorporates the band but personally, it’s not as comfortable to use as I thought it would be. I’d rather use free weights that have to use my own weight as resistance. It may be good for travel and I think I would still bring it with me when I travel.

Not exactly what I’d expected
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The bands are high quality, but they don’t provide quite as much resistance as I’d expected. I used them twice and then switched to a much sturdier band. These say they are for fit women, but they do not provide the resistance this “semi-fit” woman requires. The over-the-door attachment has a very small stopper. The second time I used the band, the attachment flew out of a closet door and the band hit me in the chest. It was a very painful reminder to make sure that it is secure every time. Be careful using the attachment on any door that does not have a very tight fit. Otherwise, I am very pleased!

Very nice for travel, home gym, beginner
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Like others have said, this is no substitute for a hard core workout. Even the extra strength band.
The band is high quality and the grips are very comfortable, which is probably the most important aspect of using this type of equipment.
This IS great for travel for extra body part but the chest unless you have a pole or tree or the like to wrap it around behind you. I did not attempt any leg or ab exercises with it. It fit very well into my backpack.
I use it sometimes at home but if anything more to help me stretch after a gym workout then to get a “pump”. Though this would be great for a person just starting out in exercise or a person that is not very strong because it does offer some resistance. I’m sure women could benefit from this greatly.

For a heavy band this is too weak for P90X. I use the ultra heavy and its ok. My friend bought medium and heavy at a local Modelle’s and they were much thicker and more rugged. They arent terrible, but there are better out there. Would not recommend these.

OK, this may sound too simple, but the Xertube Resistance Band is really a great work out. There are so many ways you can use it to work your arms and legs and you don’t have to spend a lot of time doing it. This is my second one and the first one lasted for several years so it is not only a great product but it also has a great value!

I like this band
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am interested in this for toning, it’s not really designed to replace dumbbells, so if you’re looking for that go another route. Being that I like to lift weights, I wanted a band to help tone my arms a little more. In that respect it works great, I would say that when standing on this band with both feet, it gives you about 25-35(at top)lbs. of resistance on each arm with a bicep curl. Obviously this isn’t for building huge arms or anything, but it is very convenient and portable nonetheless. The band itself is built really solid too, so I expect this to last a long time. As far as instructions go, I already knew how to properly use bands, but in case you don’t look it up on the Internet.

Great but…
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I bought three of these bands (Red, Blue and Purple) to do the P90X program. They are great products but the red one (the weakest one) snapped on me while exercising within two weeks of purchase. I was stepping on the band (as per the instructions) and it stripped an snapped. Hopefully they have some sort of warranty.
Other than that, which motivated me to move up to the tougher blue band, I actually am enjoying the products. They even come with a nice loop to secure it to a door giving you more exercise options.
All in all, I like them.

Buy as a set
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Great bands. Have not broke any yet. All come with a door clip which I do not use. Buy the Red, Blue, and Purple SPRI bands as a set. That way you have approximately 5-10lb, 10-20lb, and 20-30lb weights depending on how much stretch you put in them. If you are looking for more weight, try the Black Balego band. It is rated for 30-40lb.
In my opinion you can’t beat the price nor the workout. Once you get used to making loops and changing your footing slightly for exercises to use bands instead of weights using them is quite enjoyable. They travel easy as well. I use them with an exercise program. Highly suggested is P90X.

Great Value! Great Results!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have bought bands before, but at this price this set of bands is definitely the best value I have seen. When I ordered them (to replace my old ones that a dog chewed up), I was expecting a waste of ten dollars. I basically got an exact replacement (except for maybe the resistance level, since they vary) for my old ones.
If you have a tape to do these with, the bands are even more effective than the free weights because it gets harder as you finish each rep (as the band stretches).
Enjoy, and see the results in no time!

Good product…for toning.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I purchased one blue (heavy) Xertube and one purple (xtra heavy), with the hope that it may increase muscle size. It does tone the muscle but imo it wont increase the size of your muscles. I’ve since switched to doing calisthenics with and without an exercise ball (check out Adam Ford’s Swiss Ball DVDs) and this seems to do the trick for me. Also, I don’t believe that you can get a complete workout with the tubes. It may be possible but, I didn’t see how (some of the stances on the chart look good on the chart but seemed pretty useless to me, plus the door attachment, though efficient, constantly worried me (I’ve been smacked in the face with another brand tube before…not fun). If you can get past all that, go for it because they’re not bad for certain exercises.

I plan on buying the heavier and lighter bands just to round out the set.

Love The Bands…Never Thought I Would
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I love the bands, never thought I would because I’ve always preferred free weights, however these work your muscles in a different way BUT you can REALLY feel it. I do love them and sometimes prefer to do them with DVDs that don’t even call for them.
I only gave them four stars instead of five because I wish they would have made at least one more size heavier. I am a female, but on days when I’m feeling good and use them for chest presses; it would be nice to have another size up to go to.
Love them, try them…the price is even more attractive and they are quality. Much, much better than the little rubber bands that come with and/or is shown on some DVDs.

Not for men who want to gain weight
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I’ve been using a red SPRI Xertube band with P90X for about a week. I do NOT recommend this resistance band.
Here are some problems with it:
* it claims to offer resistance for the “fit” to “very fit” range. I can do 20lb bicep curls, 10 rep max. This band lets me do curls forever. If I make a loop, things improve but:
* if you use loops or shorter sections of the band, it’s hard to keep track of how much you “lifted”. With dumbbells, it’s clear and you can track your progress.
* the handles are not cushioned or rubberized. They’re simple plastic and tend to rub against my palm.
* the handles are not extensible with additional tubes. Compare that to Lifelineusa bands, where you can put up to three bands on the handle and greatly vary the resistance.
* as another reviewer mentioned, bands don’t really work for muscle gain. They work for strength and toning.
Pros:
* much cheaper than dumbbels, and easy to carry around.

my personal trainer always used the SPRI tubes at the gym, so when I started traveling more for work, I went out and purchased the SPRI tubes (one green, one red and one blue) and I use when I travel (and at home for quick workouts). They are great to take with me becuase they barely weigh anything, and they fit great in a shoe, so it makes them easy to pack. My trainer also recommended that I download videos from the company’s website to my iPod for when I travel so its a great way to keep my workouts going while I am away from my gym.

Best value in home fitness
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
For the price offered, you would be hard pressed to get a better piece of home exercise equipment. Xertube bands simply work; you can do 20+ different exercises with them just using the tube and a doorway. For toning arms, chest, and shoulders, these will get you great results. You can get several resistance levels for different purposes; I use these for toning my forearms, and use the purple ‘heavy’ version for doing curls, shoulders, and chest.
At this price, you cannot go wrong. I’d suggest getting two resistance levels, or even three, so that you can tier your workouts according to what you want your end result to be. You can control resistance with each band, but a since resistance will only take you so far.

There appears to be safety issues raised by other contributors. I would recommend spending more money and purchasing a Lifelineusa product. You can get a resistance level of from 30 to 300 lbs, depending upon the number of cables (up to 3) and the thickness of the cable. The doorjamb attachment is wellmade. I find a resistance level of about 120-150 lbs. is my limit. A resistance of 70 lbs. is good, at least for me, for a baseball throwing motion. Would anyone have a recommend for a power twister. It is also known generically as a chest toner. Hope my comment helps. Thanks for any assistance on my issue.

Affordable and Effective
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My favorite form of exercise is walking. I can do it year-round, through summer heat and winter’s sub-zero temperatures (though neither of these extremes makes me jump for joy). I consider it one of the best forms of exercise and I like the fact that I don’t have to belong to a gym to do it, especially since I live some distance from town.
But, unless I’m using walking poles (which I sometimes do) walking doesn’t do a lot for the arms. These resistance bands – I have them in green, red and blue – help me take care of that, rounding out my daily routines. They’re affordable, easy to use and, IMHO, effective.
I particularly appreciate that they are small and packable, making them easy to take along while traveling. Thus they join walking in being (almost) always available.
All-in-all, a good product at a good price.

I started with the red bands and now use the blue for some exercises. I hava a frozen shoulder and had to find an alternative way to exercise since freeweights put too much of a load on my shoulder. I have gained more movement and the workout is better than PT. You can progress pretty quickly to the next color band for some exercises (bicep, chest and back). Although I haven’t found much wrong with the band itself (beside the fact that the resistance is lighter than I had expected), the term “door attachment” is somewhat misleading. What you’re given is a strap; on one side, there is a loop to pull the band through, and one the other, is what I can only really describe as a small nub.
It makes sense that for such a low price, one shouldn’t expect something that actually firmly attaches to the door, so I do not fault them for what it is, but, a word of caution: absolutely make sure that the door closes completely, and cannot be pulled open without twisting the handle.
I used my band probably ten times, and when I decided that I needed to move further back to create more resistance while doing pull-up simulation exercises (lateral pull-downs), I was shocked to watch the door open and see the band and door attachment flying toward me.
Yes, the door attachment hit me right below my neck AND square in the kisser; the band hit me in the chest. After crying like a little girl and icing my swollen lips and the definite outline of the band on my chest, I realized it wasn’t that bad (I was mostly shocked), but it really could have been, had it hit me in the eye, etc.
I’m sure I sound like an idiot, but heed my warning. I thought my door was securely closed, but boy did I learn the hard way.

I am trying to get/stay in shape at home. I have an old nordic track ski machine, a weight bench with sand weights, perfect pushup, and these bands. I can’t believe how many exercises you can really do with these and the door attachment works great. I have gained strenth fairly fast and can see where I would get too strong for these, but they help you maintain. It wouldn’t be great for a serious weight lifter but it is fine for most. Also, I had no way to do lat pull downs before, now I do. And since the “bar” is imaginary, when I pull down, I can go past my shoulders. I’m completely happy with this $10 product.

They much cheaper than the ones sold by P90X/Beachbody, but worked great! The door attachment makes it easy to use them for back exercises to simulate moves you’d use a pull-up bar for, like lat pull-downs, chin-ups, etc. You can step on them to “tighten” them, and create different resistance levels as you get stronger. They’re also fantastic for travel – they coil up and can be stowed in a suitcase without taking much room, and can be used in a hotel or wherever. I’m planning to start Round 2 of P90X this evening, and will be using them again.

Best value on the market
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve tried multiple brands of resistance bands, and these have to be the best value. For less than $10 each, don’t pay more for overpriced competitors. Other brands have foam handles that can harden and/or deteriorate only after a few months of use; these PVC handles lasts for years and years (going on 2 years). The nylon handle strap design is very strong and durable, unlike the adjustable-type bands which can slip during use (very unsafe). The door attachment is also very handy for incorporating more exercises and will not slip.
I own a set of medium (red), heavy (blue), and very heavy (purple) and these replaced all my dumbbells. If you need more resistance, just loop/wrap/lengthen the band and the resistance is increased. Or even double the bands (use two at a time) for max resistance. Progressive resistance is also something that you don’t get from dumbbells. Perfect for working out at home or with programs like P90x. I have also used these professionally in therapy/rehab. settings as well.

It’s okay but needs to be longer.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought the blue/heavy resistance band to use in two of my tube workouts. The band I had no longer provided enough resistance and it was time to upgrade.
Two things to point out. The handles are not padded. Not a big deal.
Secondly, this tube is about 6 inches shorter than what I was previously using. The measurements are in the description. I thought the bands were a standard length so I didn’t pay attention to the length. In order to use this band in my workouts, I need to reposition my body/grip/whatever during some of the exercises due to the shorter length.
The band is still a nice upgrade from what previously used. Just look at measurements if the band is going to be used as a replacement band.

I bought the medium resistance tube because I didn’t know what to expect. The medium is a little light in my opinion. I figured out how to add more rsistance to the band making it worthwhile for my strength training. I would say if you’re looking for more of a challenge then get the heavy tube. This product is in no way bad and if this is you’re first band, get it. You can stil find creative ways to use it.

A good training addition

How can you go wrong with resistance bands? They all break at one point or another if you use them regularly–so that’s why I purchased this one (to replace the last two I purchased at Filene’s Basement which broke from serious usage). If you are a woman I strongly suggest you do not buy the blue like I did… way too strong for me; can hardly do bicep curls with them.
I gave 4 stars because the cord takes some self tuning (it coils a little and doesn’t grip well under my shoe when it’s pressed to the floor). I guess in time I’ll adjust to it, but I definitely have to buy a different color because the blue is limiting in exercise options due to its heavy tension. Also, the door attachment is a bit misleading in what you think it might be. You actually place it halfway inside the open door space and then close the door so the loop sticks out… problem with that is: I’m afraid that the ‘knot’ part inside the closed door will snap somehow and pop out–thus injuring me in the process (probably totally in my head but it’s a scary thought for me nonetheless).

Effective, Practical and Inexpensive Alternative to Dumbbells
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased the SPRI bands in red-medium and blue-heavy resistance levels for use in P90X workouts.
I think the range of resistance between these two bands were perfect for my needs.
I am using these while in Iraq where gym barbells are available, but at times inconvenient with my work schedule…especially when the P90X workout can be done entirely in the limited space of my living quarters.
One helpful hint is to adjust tension of the band in certain exercises by forming a small coil on the ground before stepping on them. This greatly increases the amount of exercises you can do while also allowing you to adjust tension when the bands seem too long.
The door attachment is a good idea, but, without someway of reducing the length in the same fashion, the bands were always too long for the space I had to work with.

I’ve not used other tubes, but I’m happy with this one. Seems well made, I like the handles. I’ve seen others in stores that cost more and don’t look as good. I’m no athlete, but I wouldn’t order a tube with less resistance.

I recently bought the SPRI Resistance Band. I have to admit, at first I was rather skeptical about the use of over-sized rubberbands, but now I’m a fervent believer. They’re portable, light weight and can provide quite a workout. They come in a variety of resistances for just about every one. Start your engines and get ready to burn! Thank you. Rich

This Is Not A Heavy Band
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This is a good medium band at best, but not even close to being a heavy band. I’m a man, and I use it for several tricep kick back reps. For the average woman, this is a heavy band. My wife uses it for most of her 10 minute trainer exercises, but I only use it for a couple. I found a much heavier black band on amazon, that I highly recommend. To give you an idea about this band; with the biggest loop doing bicep curls, this band equates to MAYBE 20 lbs dumbells. With that other much heavier black band I found; with the same size loop I can barely do 8 reps. I’m guessing its more like 35 lbs and that is a huge difference.

Amazing portable workout gear
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This product is amazing. I recently did 5 weeks of bootcamp and we used these resistance tubes every time for biceps, chest, back and shoulders. Its amazing how effective these are and all the time you are just using your body weight. You can make it as easy or as difficult as you want. I had to get them. The green one was a little too light for me and the blue one is a little too tight for a beginner woman. Best part is you can take this lightweight exercise gear anywhere you want and have a good muscle toning workout. Think you can google up the different exercises you can do with these. Plus for the price, it is so cheap, you dont even need to think twice.

Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am a very strong male who lifts a lot of weights but it got hard to do because of space. Especially with the changing of weights on the dumbells, it took a very long time. I bought three of these. 1 to warm up with. Using 2 at the same time to get a very hard work out and someday I hope to be able to use all 3 at the same time, like for bicep curls. 1 is too light, but with two, it is just the perfect amount of resistance.

Although it’s not really particularly “very heavy”, I like the product and it works well on my lean body. I’m not sure this would be of any use for advanced and buffed trainees.

Great, versatile piece of exercise equipment!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve worked out at home for years, but only recently have I begun incorporating exercise bands into my strength training. I’ve had a few flat-type bands that have wound up getting worn and snapped over time, so I wanted to invest in a higher-quality band. Happily, this SPRI tubing perfectly fit the bill WITHOUT breaking the band! This is a very sturdy, very versatile little piece of exercise equipment. You can use it to replace weights in your usual workouts, which allows you to work your muscles in some new and unique ways (refer to the included exercise chart for ideas). When at home, you can actually use the tubing WITH your weights to add greater resistance throughout the entire muscle movement, OR you can pack your tubing with you when traveling–so light and convenient! Finally, the included door attachment is easy to use and allows you to perform an even greater variety of exercises. I wasn’t sure which strength tubing to purchase, but I am an intermediate to advanced exerciser, and the medium (red) is perfect for me, as it is easy to adjust for either more or less resistance when needed. Highly recommended!

I bought the medium SPRI Xertube Resistance Band last year about this time. I used it a few times a week, on average. I swim and belong to a gym, but this is a nice way to get some resistance training in on those days I couldn’t get to the gym. I love how portable it is. I tossed it in my work bag, and during downtimes, I could get in a few sets of strength training in only a few minutes. It must have worked, because I noticed that in order to get more resistance, I was stepping closer and closer to the handles, so I bought the heavy one. I was a bit nervous that it would be too hard, but while noticeably more difficult than the red one, it wasn’t too hard.
I did feel good when a couple of co-workers tried it out and could barely do a few curls with it. Haha. That let me know that I am getting stronger. I gave the red one to my to my dad who had quadruple bypass late last year. He’s been working with light weights in rehab to get back in shape.
The quality of the materials is excellent. A friend has one she got at a local sporting goods store. It felt much flimsier.

These provide a good, portable workout that is easy to take with you and weighs almost nothing, so you won’t have any problems staying within that weight limit on airlines.
This is not as good as a gym workout in my opinion, but for $10, it’s worth getting, especially if you travel and can’t always make it to the gym.

Work out with little time available
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Very good product for the price. It holds up well, and provides the resistance claimed. You do need to pull it to the maximum to get the full resistance level. The good part of this product is that those who need “less” resistance can use this , and then work up to the higher levels. The instructions don’t mention that. This is really good when you have only a few minutes at a time. 5 minutes here and there adds up. I recommend this highly. The reason I don’t give it a five is the door jamb piece. I am not sure I can trust that. I use large eye bolts that I screwed into the studs in the garage. Those are very solid with no chance of slipping loose.

Very helpful, but not as durable as you’d hope.
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I’m pleasantly surprised to find how versatile and effective they are, but they’re flimsy for “Very Heavy” exercise equipment. The problem seems to be the grommets (holes the band passes through) on the handle. I pulled one blue band straight through it, while the purple one first bent, broke then popped through over 3 exercises, leaving a nasty welt both times. While I’m on a serious exercise program (P90X) and have done weight training sporadically over the last couple years, I’m honestly a bit of a pudgy nerd, so I don’t think I’m too powerful for them. To push it on some exercises (overhead lifts, whole body movements), you’ve gotta stretch them pretty far, and the line between slacking off and breaking the band is too thin for my taste. If you’re doing strength training and plan to be doing high-resistance movements, I would recommend a different band with a more reinforced attachment point. This probably isn’t an issue with the lighter bands, but they really should build the heavy ones better.

Better than nothing
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This is the first resistance band I have. I admit I am a little disappointed with what I got but it is not the manufacturer’s fault. I like dumbbells better than resistance bands. But Resistance bands make working out possible anywhere. Good concept! I ordered a heavier one right after I received my order.
I do not know what makes a good resistance band good, a bad resistance band bad. They just don’t work the same as weights. The most expensive resistance band will still work weird because they are resistance bands. They are not my ideal strength training tool, but hey! It is better than nothing.
Just one advice, the medium is still too light. Go straight to the heavy weight.

Xertube Resistance Band is well made and easy to use. Attachment of handles is much better than in other bands I have used … distributes stress on webbing bands so handles should holdup well. I give this product a strong endorsement and will recommend it to my friends.

I’ve been using this product for a while now and have not had any problems with it. It takes a small bit of common sense to use (basically have to be slightly smarter than the door you attach it to). All you do is put the strap through the door jam, and then close the door and use it. If it doesn’t work there’s obviously a problem with your door. The thing I liked the most were the videos on the SPRI website that show all the different workouts.

Great Complement to Other Home Exercise Equipment
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This product is a great complement to existing equipment, for anybody who wants to tone specific muscles that the other equipment can not target, at an extremely affordable price. It is lightweight, portable, and versatile. I purchased it primarily for the exercises that can be completed using the door attachment.
I would estimate the resistance at about 15-20 pounds, based on the number of repetitions I can do with this as compared to weights in the 20-35 pound range. The door attachment works well and allows me to target specific areas for toning. The nylon bands around the plastic handles rotate freely so that everything can be adjusted for maximum comfort for the exercise you are completing. In general it seems well-constructed, and no part seems like it will easily fail. I feel safe while using the product. The included charts are actually helpful for me, allowing me to complete some additional exercises that I would not even have thought about.
For the price, this perfectly rounds-out my exercise routine, and I may consider getting additional bands with a higher resistance in the future.

Not what you want to get if you’re a heavy lifter
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I bought this product around a month ago. I thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea since I’m unable to go to the gym more than 4 times a week, and that I would probably use this for some heavy resistance, but the very heavy turned out to be much lighter than I thought, and I doubt the Ultra heavy is much of an increase. To be honest I don’t really benchpress that much compared to others, around 90 pound dumbells, and I could easily do around 18 reps on the Xertube. Don’t get me wrong it’s not a bad product except their resistance isn’t so resistant. Women and a casual lifters might enjoy this product, and this product can give a great deal of toning, but if you’re a heavy lifter, don’t count on it for anything other than some light toning. It just doesn’t have enough resistance.

Fine band, but bad for Wii Active use
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Trying to use this as a replacement for Wii Active, and unless you have HUGE hands the handles are too big to hold both the bands and the Wii remotes. I’m a 6′ guy so it’s not like I don’t have decently large hands to hold everything, but I keep getting errors trying to do the exercises.
I’m going to try another flat band instead, similar to the one that came w/ the game originally.
For anyone using it for it’s “normal” use, this should be fine. Seems to be of good quality.

A Great Travel Item
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This band is perfect for those of you who do some recreational resistance or weight training and also travel regularly. If you do a significant amount of muscle training at high weight or resistance, this will not offer much challenge to you. You should be aware before buying this, it is NOT a replacement for going to the gym. I wish it offered more resistance, but it doesn’t. You’re not going to open the package and find a magical rubber band that somehow gives you 200 pounds of resistance without you tearing your door off it’s hinges. No, I’m afraid that fantasy product doesn’t exist. This is a fine item for keeping you active if you get bored while watching TV. If you need something to use in a hotel room this is ideal for it’s small luggage footprint as well as it’s ease of use.
There are a large assortment of exercises that can be done with this band with or without using a door. You can curl it by standing on it and pulling upward, shrug it, do lunges with it, do rows with it (door needed for that one) and simulate pull ups (also needing a door for this one) to a reasonable degree. You can also adjust your own resistance on some exercises that require you to stand on the band by widening your stance. It’s a very logical and simple product to use.
I don’t recommend the purple band to those new to resistance training. There are other colors representing other weight simulations that you should probably consider, although the pricing is so cheap you can probably get a couple and work your way through them if you really wanted to do that.
A WARNING: Read the directions before you use this. For example, you may be tempted to close the strap for door use into the top part of the door, this is incorrect and could damage your door. You close the strap into the door near a hinge (definitely not near the knob). While this band does not offer much resistance, I strongly suggest wearing shoes when using your feet to provide tension as having it snap back into your face would probably not be a pleasant experience.
To revisit: It’s not a gym replacement so don’t pretend it is and then be disappointed when you buy it, that’s just illogical. It’s highly portable. It’s highly diverse. It offers decent resistance for recreational or travel use when unable to use a gym or home exercise equipment. It could snap back dangerously if used in ways contrary to those spelled out plainly in the instructions.

I used these bands with the P90X workouts because I can’t be bothered to purchase a full set of dumbbells. This product worked great for all the exercises P90X demanded and it does an amazing job for such a lightweight, portable, and cheap solution.
My only concern before purchasing these bands was how strong they were. They are incredibly strong and flexible. Never once did I feel like these bands were going to snap or tear.
As an early-20s, 6’0″, 180lb male, the red (medium) bands were a little weak, so I plan on purchasing the blue (heavy) bands to better suit my workouts.
