    Insanely good product

After 23, (30 minutes ea) sessions I am really impressed with the product,

not knowing yet if it really works. Definitely product is trying

very hard to do so. After first full charge and after 23 session

battery indicator is not blinking yet which means that I can go

another session or two or….? w/o charge.

Pads are still in excellent condition but I clean them often with windex

specially when debris of my skin or hair are visible on the surface.

Covering pads precisely with provided foil/film is essential in maintaining

high mileage. Even if product wont burn fat I still like it and

will be using it. Definitely belt is trying hard to exercise abdomen muscles.

I spent for mine about $100 and I think it’s worth every penny.

i am 18 and i am a student at western carolina university, and i go to the gym everyday but i dont have a 6 pack,i only have the 2 abs on my upper stomach, so i figured i would buy this and see if it could help me out. i just recieved it today. i put it on for 40 minutes and i started it on level 55. i could tell instantly that it was working. my abs are sore right now sitting at the desk. also my roommate tryed it and he wants to buy one. but only time will tell if i get a 6pack. BUT YOU CANT EXPECT TO BUY THIS AND GET A 6PAK if u eat mcdonalds everyday. This product will strengthn and tone your abs, but you have too burn that layer of fat off on top of your abs to tell. ill post another review in a couple weeks. if u have any questions email me at browning114@yahoo.com

A definite improvement over previous model
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I reviewed the previous Slendertone belt, and indicated there that I was going to try this one out. I am glad I did. The programming and intensity range of controls is vastly improved, and the recharge-ability of the device is a true plus. I have been using the unit for approximately three weeks, and it has definitely helped me to restart an exercise program after several months off due to illness. Because the controls are much less bulky, the unit is easier to wear under clothing, and much easier to exercise with while wearing. I am not quite sure why one of the reviewers is so negative on this device. Right now, I am using it an intensity of “40,” and i clearly get quite an involuntary muscular workout from it. My wife has commented that she can see the involuntary reactions while the muscle stimulation is working. Granted, I lost a lot of wight while ill, and at 6’3″ and 162 pounds, the belt doesn’t have to reach “far” in order to stimulate my abs.

I would knock off a half star because of the proprietary connector between the recharger plug and the controller. I recently went on a trip, and I left the wall plug at my hotel. Fortunately, the battery lasted for several days after recharging, and so I had no problem waiting for the hotel to ship the plug back to me. But if I had lost it for sure, I would have been SOL. I contacted Slendertone customer support, and a week later, they still have not responded to my request for a replacement plug.

    Totally Useless Device!
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This is not strength training! It’s just too weak to cause any change in abdominal musculature.

The only way anyone can give this thing a positive review, is by not testing it at the maximum intensity level in order to find out just how weak it is. Don’t buy it if you expect a six-pack.

  6. Eric Jacobson on Thu, 18th Mar 2010 8:35 am

    Yep, it works
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
First, I’m 60, 6’0″ tall, and about 170, so not fat, but with a little too much middle-aged buildup around the midsection. I’ve never in my life been able to achieve a six-pack, owing probably to a genetic aversion to doing tons of ab work. After about 2 1/2 months with Slendertone, my belly is still not a thing to admire when I take off my shirt (I need to get the calorie count down further, and it doesn’t help that I have a pretty inert lifestyle), but, even with the belly bulge, now when I flex my stomach I can see some definition I’ve never had before.

I’m going to keep using the Slendertone for at least another four months and see what can be accomplished. It’s not really less pain than doing crunches (at higher settings, the contractions are nothing to laugh at), but it exerts a certain discipline (if you can make yourself put it on every day for a session), and it allows me to keep working at my computer while my stomach gets a workout.

The Slendertone product is well-made. The battery is easy to charge and holds its charge for several days. Respectfully handled, this product should give many years of service.

Now for something that concerns many people: pad life. I’m still on my original set of pads after almost 3 months, and don’t see why I can’t keep using them for many more weeks. The secret is simple — whenever you finish with your Slendertone session, gently remove the belt from your stomach so the pads don’t tear, use an almost dripping-wet sponge to gently wipe the pads and get them very moist, then carefully replace their clear protective plastic covers, massaging them to get as much air out from underneath as possible. Make sure the edges are sealed to prevent air from getting in and drying out the damp pads. It’s an easy maintenance routine that takes maybe 45 seconds. Once you’ve covered the pads, carefully fold the belt so as not to bend the pads (in the same way it was folded when it initially arrived in the box)and keep it stored in its little tote bag.

I bought this product and I regret it now. It did not work from the get go and as a today it does work, I called Amazon and the seller several times to find out what should be my first move, replace it or return it. They called me ones while I was at work, I called right back and as a today no calls. I tried to make it work by replacing the gel pads and even like that it did not work, besides the NEW gel pads came dry, mummified. Somebody in AMAZON told me that the seller will call me but that was another lie!

Slendertone Abs Toning Belt. A good belt, an older model and NON-RETURNABLE. The new model, direct from slendertone costs a little more but is returnable. I used mine once and found it severely affects an old hernia operation. So I can’t use it. Better to pay a little more for the new model and if it doesn’t work for you, return it. I recently bought my belt and started using it. I have been trying for a while to get back into shape, and do to my work schedule its been a little harder than I like. However this belt does allow for some assistance. With a proper diet and a decent enough excersise routine you will see results. Ive gone up to 75 on the highest intensity and you can really feel it working. In fact I can fell the sorness in my abs from using the belt earliar today.

Wearing the belt and feeling your muscles tense and relax without your control is weird, but effective. Finishing my 5th week and starting to see and feel a difference. This won’t melt fat, so you have to do other exercise and watch what you eat for that, but this device really does what it says.

    Solid kick in the gut.
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This thing will really give you a nice kick in the abs. I’m wearing it right now at 40/40 (each side is adjustable) out of 100. Feels about the equivalent of holding myself at 45 degree angle sit up for 5 seconds.

Sometimes it feels like one side is stronger than the other even if you adjust the numbers to compensate (can’t go more than 10 settings higher on one side over the other. If this happens its probably because the lubrication is fading or its not tight on one side. You can check if its loose by pushing the pads into you while using and see if it feels stronger. If it isn’t stronger you can use water/sponge and cover both sides of the pad that feels weak. Petroleum jelly seems to also work decent (KY or the Equate off-brand is cheaper). I don’t expect the pads would really ever wear-out with these methods, but without the pads would probably weaken after 2-3 weeks with good care.

As for how it feels, everyone I’ve let try is really nervous just before it starts, but on the starting 1 setting it just feels like a little tickling vibration with the vibrations getting stronger as you go up. Definitely not painful or anything to be afraid of.

I’ve used it almost every day for the past 1.5 weeks and haven’t had to charge it even once since taking out of the box. I’d imagine most of the kick is really being done by your own muscles and the belt provides just enough electricity to simulate your brain telling the muscles to contract.

As for how it looks, if you put the controller in your pants pocket instead of the belts pocket you could wear it to work or wherever and no one could tell you had it on. If you leave it in the belts pocket you might look like you have a stomach tumor but still works just fine for around the house.

Bottom line is my abs are tighter and warm to the touch even a day or two after a workout. It definitely has the kick to put you on the floor with more to spare. I doubt I could continue standing for long if I kept the power above 50. They have an arm version I might have to try as well.

Hard to believe, but this thing actually works
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I know it sounds hard to believe, but if you’re already in semi-reasonable shape, this thing actually works. This is one of those products where you tend to think, “Well if this kinda gizmo actually works, why doesn’t EVERYBODY already know about it?” I think one reason may be that it probably doesn’t work if you really do have a big-fat gut. But if you’re like me and only have a layer of fat on your gut (maybe an inch thick? not gobs of fat probably), this gizmo really is able to zap and exercise your abdominal muscles through the fat.

Here’s my story: too much business travel got me up to about 163 pounds at 5’7″ (male); spent 4 months on the treadmill (and The Abs Diet) getting that down to about 153 pounds (I was doing weights too, so I was gaining muscle mass, hence the slow weight loss). I have a “stiff” spine due to a youthful illness so I can’t do crunches. After reading other Amazon reviews that say this gizmo really works, I decided to give it a whirl. Two weeks later (still doing weights and treadmill) I’ve dropped 4 pounds and I can feel (still under a layer of fat) how strong my ab muscles are getting.

This has me really motivated to lose the final layer of fat on my gut. In the few more weeks that’ll take me, I should have some nice abs waiting to greet me.

I highly recommend this device as a useful part of a regular exercise and diet program.

    Shocking Results!!!
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I loved this product for the first thirty days that I had it. It really helped may abs and tummy move back into more youthful appearance. It then began to randomly shock me with uncomfortable levels of electricity. When I called the manufacturer, they informed me that I had purchased a “counterfiet model” and thus would be having these problems.

I assumed a company like Amazon would be screening their providers to prevent such things but I guess not. More than ever it seems to be the old adage, BuyerBeware!!!

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After losing weight, I needed something to tighten my abdominal muscles. With a ventral hernia, my options were limited (surgical correction is not an option). My wife and I have used this device, and we notice a good difference. Yes, it is not as “powerful” as a workout as when younger, but it strengthens the muscles without further abdominal damage. It’s a keeper.

    Time well spent.
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I purchased this piece of equipment so that I could work on my abs effectively. I am in the military, so we already have a pretty hard-core work environment. But my abs seemed to be lacking. I purchased this item mostly on a whim, just to see if it was worth its weight.

Well, after a month of operation and following the workout manual, I have found that it is pretty damn effective. Obviously as with any product, you cant be obese and throw this on expecting all your problems to be over. But if you are doing some sit ups and crunches on your own, using this before bed makes a big difference.

I will continue using this product, and recommend it to others.

Solution for burning sensation – Great Product
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This ab toning system works by electrical stimulation of your muscles. Electricity always takes the path of least resistance (that’s what a short circuit is all about). So, you must be careful to ensure the gel coatings of the pads are consistent without any missing pieces and that the skin under the pads do not have any unhealed cuts, scratches or abrasions.

I found that occasionally I would experience a burning sensation around the edge of one of the pads. The edge of the pads have no gel on them, so if they come into direct contact with your skin they provide a path of lowered resistance for the electrical current. I solved this issue by either working some of the gel coating over the edge of the pad and/or removing and repositioning the belt.

On one occasion I repeatedly experienced a burning sensation under one of the pads no matter what I did. I even replaced the pad with a new one with no effect. So (being the engineer that I am) I inverted the belt so that it was upside down. The left pad was on the right and the right pad on the left. I still experienced the same burning sensation on my right side. So, my burning sensation occurred regardless of whether the left or right pad of the belt was in contact with the skin on the right-side of my abdomen. I removed the belt and inspected that area of my abdomen in a mirror. To my surprise I found a tiny scratch right where I was feeling the burning sensation. An unhealed scratch means a direct path for the electrical current without having to traverse your layers of skin. So, I put some neosporin antibiotic ointment on the scratch and let it heal for two days. When I put the ab toner belt back on two days later the burning sensation was gone.

Just a few lessons learned. Other than the above comments, I have found that the ab toner belt works as advertised and I am extremely pleased with the results I have obtained from using it.Slendertone Men’s System Abs Toning Belt

This product does work. It is well designed and made.I find that its use helps with my lower back fatigue. My only criticism is that the gel pads have to be handled carefully and seem to last with daily use only a couple of weeks.

Do nothing and lose unwanted pounds off your stomach area?
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve never written a product review before but I’ve been so impressed with this the Slendertone Ab Toning Belt I wanted to put something out there.

I purchased this in January 2010 as part of a New Year’s resolution to ‘get in shape’.

I have about 20 pounds I’d like to lose. I’ve always had some ‘love handles’ that I would like to get rid of. At the same time, I work 60+ hours a week and have little time to exercise (though, I try to find about 30 minutes 5 times a week to exercise). When I saw a commecial for a product that seemed like you could simply strap on and it would ‘firm’ up my stomach – my first thoughts were ‘yeah, right those commercial models have likely always had tight midsections before they strapped on the electric shock gismo’- but, I was still intrigued by it. I remembered seeing some Bruce Lee interview from years ago, or maybe it was one of his movies, where he used some electric shock thing to exercise his muscles. I decided to do some research, first on the model I saw in the infomercial – I can’t even remember the name of it – but, while researching – and reading the fine print on it, it was one of those deals were you buy it for something like $19.99 but if you don’t return it in 30 days they charge you something like $250.00 (similar to the whole video professor thing). There were a few reviews of people who found the product to be ok, but really complained about the marketing practice of this particular company.

Separating the product idea from the marketing issues, I did some more research which lead me to decide to ‘give it a try’ – not to ‘melt the pounds away’ but, in hopes of ‘firming and strengthening’ my midsection. After doing various searches on different products I came to this one which seemed to be the most reasonably priced with a decent amount of positive reviews (rather than just a couple you find on some products which are likely from the makers of the products!).

I’ve had this now for over a month – I also still have a layer of fat over my midsection – but, I also have something else – a firmer, stronger midsection! I’ll admit I do an elliptical about 5 times a week for about 30 minutes, but, I intentially have not been doing any cruches, sit ups, etc – to see if this thing really works. It really does.

You’ll find the first few times you use it it will feel kind of odd. At first I wondered, is this thing really causing my muscles to tense up, or is it just lightly ‘shocking’ me to give the impression of the muscles tensing. It really does cause the muscles to tense.

Imagine sitting down, or walking around, and how your stomach feels if you just tense it up on your own – it’s pretty much the same thing. But, wearing this is like breathing – an involuntary action – where you muscles will tense up on a rhythmic basis. Now, you could do this voluntarily – walk around and tighten your stomach muscles – hold it for 10 seconds or so -and then rest a moment, and do it again for 30 minutes – but, I much rather do it involuntarily through using this thing. I strap it on and pretty much forget about it while I work.

After you’ve used it for about a week you’ll find you can really up the intensity – and after two weeks you’ll find your stomach muscles really getting stronger. It’s actually pretty motivating in that now I’m even more encouraged to go through the pain of getting rid of these final pounds to get to the point where my stomach muscles stand out.

Bottom line: If you’re looking for some way to do nothing and lose unwanted pounds from your stomach area – you won’t find that with this product. But, if you wouldn’t mind having a stronger mid-section and firmer muscles (even if it means being able to get up off the couch easier!) than this is for you. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

It has worked for me !
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This product has increased my abdominal muscle tone and since using it I have gone from waist size 32 to 31 inches, and have lost one pound. I have used the belt for exactly one month. After reading the reviews of the pads wearing out, that has NOT been my experience. Whenever I first start to feel a stinging sensation, I stop and smear petroleum jelly on the pads and go back to work.

While it is recommended that one use a 40 minute session every other day, I have used my belt considerably more, leaving it on and running all 7 programs almost daily. I wear it at work and to date, no one has known it is on under my clothes.

Now with all that being said, one must realize that I am not your average individual. At age 58, I went to the gym with the goal of obtaining “6 pack abs.” I am now 60. My waist size started out at 36 inches. My weight started out at 187 pounds. I am 5’8″.

I am currently 163 pounds. and waist size is 31. I do over 35 various abdominal exercises, performing a total of 2,000 to 3,000 reps a week (about 500 reps daily (which only takes 30 minutes.) My diet consists of NO fried foods, fast foods, frozen foods, or micro waved foods. No sodas, cake, pie, candy, chips, etc. I drink a lot of water. I do cheat on this diet once a week. I don’t eat unless I am hungry, and, one can put all kinds of food in front of me and I will NOT eat it just because it is there, no matter what it is.

Back to the belt; I have lost one inch in waistline and one pound in one month. If I can keep doing that, I will achieve my dream high school waistline of 28 inches within a few months.

So, if you are somewhat in shape already and want to increase definition, I would DEFINITELY recommend this product to you.

    Secret to the Gel Pads
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
If you notice almost all of the negative reviews for these type products are from people who have NOT used the product. I am am exercise physiologist and I know the products work – as long as your expectations are reasonable. They will strengthen your abdominal muscles and obliques – they will NOT trim the fat from your waist.

A single charge of the batteries lasts for 20-30 sessions. In three months of use 5 days a week, I have charges mine 3 times.

The stimulation is intense at high levels. The thicker your abdominal fat pad the lower the intensity of the stimulation will be for you. I am currently out of shape and have about a 1″ abdominal fat pad – 75 is pretty intense.

SECRET – The gel pads do wear out in about one month – but, if you will do the following they will last at least three months and still be in good shape. Make sure you put the plastic covers back on the pads immediately after use. Before each use, wet your fingers with warm water and wet the gel surface – this will maintain the water level in the gel for months of use.

Use the belt. It will not work on the shelf. It takes at least 30-60 days to begin to see (feel) the results. If you use it the abs will come.

If you really want to SEE the newly developing abs, you MUST loose the fat. Stick to a healthy diet with portion control.

My only complaint is with the connection between the control unit and the belt. It is flimsy and I expect it to break too soon. I often get screen error I think are related to this connection. But if I firm up the connection and restart the unit it works like new.

I bought the slendertone belt to hopefully gain a six pack. I am 5’11″ and 160 pounds, so i am by no means fat. I am actually in pretty good shape and was looking for an extra kick to hopefully tone my stomache more. After one week of using the slendertone ab system on level 99 everytime the gel pads were burnt out and it actually hurt to turn it on. This resulted in red marks and I did not want to use it anymore. Slendertone would have told me to replace the gel pads but I was under the impression that they last more than one week. I thought it was a good product if you have the money to keep replacing gel pads, but if you dont I would stay away from theis product. I do believe it tones your abs but its not going to help you lose fat!!! High intensity training along with resistance training is the only thing that will do this!

Since I am extremely busy, I thought this might save some time on doing regular ab routines. I was wrong! I put it on the highest settings and it still didn’t compare at all to the kind of workout you get from a good ab routine…no burning or soreness the next day.

Weak abs after several abdominal surgeries
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This product has been great. After 3 separate surgeries on my abdomen I could no longer do crunches or sit ups for fear of a hernia. This has made a huge difference in the abdominal wall muscle strength. I am back to sit ups and crunches with no fear. I have also lost a significant amount of abdominal fat-2 inches on my waist line.

It is not for the significantly overweight person. I am sure the unit is too weak to effectively reach muscles that deep.

You have to be realistic about the product. If you are it is a great purchase, especially for a recent abdominal postop patient.

I am not sure how to compare, but I hadn’t experience an ab belt before so it probably works well. I just don’t know how to position it so it felt weird on my sides where the electric force of it would sort of hurt my ribs and shoot up to my shoulders sometimes. The gel pads get worn out quickly, but that seems normal when you keep using it.
