The Perfect Pushup puts a new spin on one of the oldest exercises, the pushup. Invented by someone who knows a lot about pushups, former U.S. Navy SEAL, Alden Mills, the Perfect Pushup's rotating handles allow your arms to rotate naturally when you do pushups the same way they do when you throw a punch or press up a dumb bell. This unique feature accelerates results by engaging more muscles in the arms, chest, shoulders, and back. It also helps reduce strain on wrists and elbows, and helps to stabilize and strengthen the shoulder joint by engaging the scapular and rotator cuff muscles. You will notice the comfort and effectiveness of the Perfect Pushup on the very first try!

Includes free instructional DVD and full color poster that show perfect form along with a customizable 21 day workout planner based in SEAL 2 minute drills that works for any fitness level - from beginner through Olympic athlete. more info

    Must get for Push ups!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is turns so well when your body weight is on them, so easy on the shoulder and it gets a deeper push up. Seems fun and comes with a good 3 week workout plan to “get your feet wet”. It’s very good and came shipped fast and well shipped.

    Great piece of gear
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was torn between getting these and the travel version, after looking at reviews of both I decided on this variation. I use them daily and find them to be very durable, have had them for 5 months without a problem. I have only used them on hard flooring (concrete and formica) so I cannot comment on how well they work on carpeting, but as long as the floor is clean and smooth, they stay in position without sliding, even during wide grip exercises. The chart that comes with them is adequate, I considered it a starting point from which I developed my own workout routine. Using them definitely improves performance in being able to knock out “normal” push ups. Being able to descend below the normal pushup depth helps to really get a good workout. Excellent product, eventually I think I will get a set of the travel version because these do not pack very easy for travel. The DVD was adequate too, it had some good pointers and recommendations for variations on the basic exercise.

Great Home Exercise Equipment For the Upper Body
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
There are some advantages and disadvantages to this product that buyers need to be aware of before purchasing:

-this is a great in-home piece of equipment to primarily exercise the chest (pecs), front shoulder (anterior deltoids), and back of the arms (triceps)

-once you can do 20 reps in a row with this item, you will not get these muscles any stronger using this piece of equipment. The srength training literature is quite clear (ex. Fleck and Kramer) that anything OVER 20 reps of an exercise will build primarily muscle ENDURANCE and NOT strength. Thus, you can strengthen the above named muscles only to a certain extent- since this exercise equipment is unable to provide progressive resistance (unlike a weight machine or dumbbell where you can keep adding a little more weight now and then which challenges the muscle and makes it grow bigger and stronger). Having said that, it is a great tool to use for moderate strengthening and to maintain a certain level of fitness. Just know it won’t turn you into Hercules…

-this is an especially good piece of equipment to use if you have wrist problems since it can rotate and let your wrists do what they do naturally with you do this pressing type motion- unlike other exercise equipment where your hand is fixed on a bar.

-using this piece of equipment is vastly superior to regular floor push-ups as it allows the torso to “sink down” to the floor more which increases the range of motion for you to exercise in. Thus, the muscles are exercised more thoroughly thru a greater range.

When all is said and done: Its a good product for someone looking for a moderate upper body workout and wants to “stay in shape”. Also recommend Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff if you have a shoulder problem that interferes with your workout.

    People with shoulder problems beware!
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I injured my shoulder in 2001, while in high school.

Fast forward about six or seven years.

I ordered this product and from the moment it arrived used it regularly for about 6 months. I didn’t see outstanding results, and I exercise 4 or 5 times a week. I did not see any results I wouldn’t normally see with regular pushups. But, it was easy on my wrists, and because it was a big harder I didn’t have to do so many, so it was easy on my elbows too.

After using for six months I decided to try the advanced movements, which were significantly more difficult, but that’s the point. While doing incline pushups, with my feet on a swiss ball, I torn my entire labrum in my shoulder.

This product is great for anyone who doesn’t like doing regular pushups. This product is awful for anyone with a preexisting, even if it’s old, injury. Needless to say I need to have surgery on my shoulder now. Thanks perfect pushup.

A sturdy product that will help you build solid muscle and strength
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve lifted weights a long time. But there are times I lose my motivation. Having these handy, I simply am drawn to them and do a quick workout. Think it isn’t a workout? Think again! It’s tougher than anything you can imagine and a few minutes of this is like 35 minutes in the weight room. I love The Perfect Pushup.

They’re built extremely well. Don’t buy an imitation as they’re not built well. These are not expensive. They’re priced fairly for what you get. Yes, it would be nice if they furnished the DVD or at least the cards. But, if they don’t, you’ve not wasted your money. You’ll build muscle and strength and have fun doing it. Yes, this is fun.

I have bad wrists and can’t safely do regular pushups. The Perfect Pushup allows me to do all I can, safely and with no pain.

Oh, by the way, if you hate doing ab work, you can stop. Why? You will get one heck of an ab workout with The Perfect Pushup. If you don’t feel your abs the next day, I’ll be surprised.

    Highly recommended.

    Fine
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’m 50, I didn’t buy them to recapture my youth. I had to carry my lovely granddaughter Ava around a department store for an hour. I had to hold my arm out a bit from my chest so her legs didn’t get squished. I am a garbage man, in pretty good shape all considering. My arms, I didn’t know if they ached or the burning sensation was worst. Had to do something, I love my granddaughter, and wouldn’t miss a moment holding her. Ok got the perfect push up, cranked out the sets of eight on my knees (I got a bum back). I brought them because I got a matching bum left wrist, and using this thing didn’t aggravate it. Course I went over the top, I wasn’t straining, but the next day I occasionally had those sharp searing pains that would make you soil your pants. The next time, did the same, eventually the pain will go away or I will pass out first. Pain is nothing, at my age, you have two types of muscles, those that hurt, and the others that go numb (pinched nerve in my neck/elbow). All in all, it is worth it, being able to hold that angel and watch her eyes looking around. I can tell you for the money, for me, it was worth it. I threw the instructions, I kind of figured the name tells you what to do, push up. Don’t know about the DVD, haven’t figured out how to use the machine, will have to wait till my daughter comes over. Do I have a younger looking body, you bet my daughter says I don’t look 50, I could easily pass for 49 ½ . I found another use for them. When my wife was sleeping, I yelled clear, slapped them on her chest yelling, live dam it, live. Well she knocked the fool out of me, ended up having to get my own dinner (a can of corn) and a ham sandwich without the ham.

    Good solid construction
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
These things are nice to use and they definitely do add some effort to an ordinary pushup. This is a good tool to use to tone up and keep in shape and the construction is solid. Doesn’t feel like you’re going to crack these if you drop something on them. I’d buy these again.

This product works out a lot of your stabilizer muscles, along with the big muscle groups of the pushup. The bar itself adds a few inches to your pushup so you can go down further and work your chest more. Great product and feels sturdy enough to last a few years.

    Nice, deep pushups
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have found this product to be quite useful. Although you can do fewer pushups than you can with standard hands-on-floor pushups, the Perfect Pushup allows you to get a deeper and ultimately more productive pushup. However, you won’t go down far enough to cause shoulder strain, as you might between 2 chairs or another makeshift set up that might not be as safe. My son and I have both used these every week for over a year and they (both pieces) are still like new; so, excellent durability. Try these every couple of weeks as a substitute for bench presses and you might find your bench press weight goes up.

The best price I have seen, for $31. Retail shops charge $40+tax. It works very well. You can carry it in a bag wherever you go. I really like the wide pushups. You will see the difference, the more pain –> more gain. Recommonded for everybody.

    Thanks.

Good, but not nearly as good as Powerstands
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I own both the Perfect Pushup and Beach Body Powerstands (also called P90X Powerstands or just Powerstands). Both products are for anyone who can do at least 10 pushups using their own hands on the floor. However, I highly recommend the Powerstands over the Perfect Pushup. Here are the differences:

    1) Construction: Both Powerstands and Perfect Pushup have a nonslip circular base and are quite durable and can take a beating. However, the Powerstands are made of metal while the Perfect Pushup is made of plastic. Naturally, the metal of Powerstands will outlast the plastic of Perfect Pushup.

    2) Size: The Perfect Pushup is about 3/5 the size (diameter and height-wise) of the Powerstands. In other words, the Powerstands are almost twice the size of the Perfect Pushup.

    3) Elevation: Powerstands handle grips are about 5 inches high whereas Perfect Pushup handle grips are about 3 inches high. The higher elevation of the Powerstands allows for you to dip your body lower in a pushup, which works the chest, tricep, shoulder, and trapezius muscles more. Additionally, the added height of Powerstands allows you to comfortably perform special exercises like “divebombers,” whereas the Perfect Pushup is not high enough or stable enough (due to the rotating base) to be able to do “divebombers.”

    4) Rotation: Powerstands do not rotate whereas Perfect Pushup does. While the rotation of the Perfect Pushup does work the wrists and forearm slightly more than the Powerstands (because of unnecessary strain on the hands and wrists), it does not target and develop major muscles groups as well as Powerstands. Also the effort spent in controlling the rotation of the Perfect Pushup with your wrists is wasted effort when compared to the effort maximized by the elevated regular pushup using the Powerstands. Keep in mind that the more you weigh, the more energy you will have to expend twist the Perfect Pushup during your pushup. Consequently, if you weigh more than 220 pounds, I especially would not recommend you use Perfect Pushup.

    5) Handles/Comfort: The handle grips of the Powerstands are angled to reduce wrist strain whereas the handle grips of the Perfect Pushup horizontally even, which forces your wrists to bend unnaturally outward. Also, the Powerstands have thick, soft, cushioned (non-rubber) handle grips whereas the Perfect Pushup has a thin, hard, rubber grip. The angled design and the padding of the Powerstands made this product, by far, the most comfortable piece of barred equipment I have ever used (and as a US Marine I have handled a lot of equipment with bars).

Conclusion: The Powerstands are the best choice possible for a push-up device due to the superior durability, superior comfort, and superior design for targeting major muscles groups and special exercises like “divebombers.”

AFPT Test takers needs perfect pushups!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I entered basic training being able to do 42 push ups in 2 minutes. I went to Christmas Exodus and received the perfect pushups as a gift from my parents. I hurt from doing the perfect pushups for about a 3 weeks and then hit some sort endurance mark? I don’t really know what happened but I developed these new muscles on top of my front biceps and my triceps we’re ripped. I then took my AFPT test two weeks after arriving back from Christmas exodus and did 76 pushups in 2 minutes. I got to 60 without stopping in under a minute and took my time with the next 16 in the remaining minute. I maxed the pushups for my age group (24) and couldn’t believe I wasn’t even tired or hurt afterwards like before it hurt worse doing 75 perfect pushups! As of right now I can honestly do 95 military grade pushups and I do get a headache after the 2 minutes! Thanks for reading. PFC Anderson, Joshua D

If you thought these look like a gimmick, you are wrong. The perfect pushup equipment allows you a whole new freedom of motion that you could never achieve doing just regular pushups. You will definitely feel the difference in your workout. Not only will you have freedom of motion, you won’t be putting stress on your wrists.

I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY SON THAT IS 17. HE IS INTO SPORTS SUCH AS BASKETBALL AND MENS VOLLEYBALL PLAYS FOR CLUBS AND HIGH SCHOOL. HE WORKS IN WEIGHT ROOM AT SCHOOL THE TRAINER GIVES HIM DIFFERENT THINGS TO BUILD UP HIS ARMS,ABS,LEGS,SHOULDERS. SINCE HE STARTED USING THEM (IT’S BEEN 3 WKS NOW) HE HAS NOTICED A BIG DIFFERENCE. HE SAID HIS MUSCLES WERE EVEN SOMEWHAT SORE AFTER THE FIRST FEW DAYS IN DIFFERENT PLACES AND HE SAYS HIS MUSCLES LOOK SLIGHTLY BIGGER. HE IS 6’4″ AND THIN AND HAS HAD A HARD TIME BULKING UP EVEN WITH HIGH CALORIE DIETS THE TRAINERS PUT HIM ON AND IT HAS WORKED TO A POINT BUT I THINK BY USING A DIFFERENT METHOD OF EXCERCISE IT HAS HELPED HIM DEVELOP IN DIFFERENT AREAS.. SO HE LOVES THE PERFECT PUSH UP AND WILL BE BRINGING IT TO HIS WORK OUT SESSIONS FOR THE OTHER GUYS TO TRY..

I have this product for over 3 months and have been using it 2 tp 3 times a week. I was weary of the product especially a “seen on TV” type exercise equipment. It takes a little while to get used to the twisting part but what you will feel immediately is no strain on wrists nor hands. It is 100X better than doing floor pushups! Due to it be elevated from the floor, you can do deeper pushups. When you open the box, they come already assembled with an exercise poster. Yes they are plastic but very heavy duty. This is an excellent product and an excellent buy.

Really good stuff…if you can’t go to gym on regular basis and wanna have decent looking pecks and arms…this is definitely the way to go. I was kinda skeptical at first…but I love it. It’s made of sturdy material and it’s well constructed. And it feels really good on your hands.

The dvd that comes with it is a joke though…you don’t need it.

If you love push-ups or would like to love-push ups, get this!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The price has dropped on this item (it cost about 30 bucks on average) and it’s worth it. I also tried the rival “Push Up Pro” as well and let’s just say “you get what you pay for.” Push Up Pro is decent and I don’t want to knock it too hard, but as far as quality goes, Push Up Pro is lesser in quality than the Perfect Pushup. Does Perfect Pushup REALLY work? That depends what you mean by that. Are you going to get all ripped and huge like the guy on the infomercial? Of course not. But using the Perfect Pushup is definitely more challenging and efficient than conventional push-ups. You will see results if you stick with it. It’s also less straining on the joints. You can’t go wrong with this product if you don’t have time to go to the gym and/or if you have limited space at home. You can also take these with you when you travel or stash them in your office for use during those slow days at work. You’ll feel much more peace of mind doing push-ups rather than watching lame YouTube videos!

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
While some reviews complain about the “cheap” nature of the Perfect Pushups, it’s honestly not an issue. The product holds up well to workouts and allows you to get a much deeper (and harder) pushup than regular floor pushups. I’d recommend pairing this product with the 100 Pushups program 7 Weeks to 100 Push-Ups: Strengthen and Sculpt Your Arms, Abs, Chest, Back and Glutes by Training to do 100 Consecutive Push-Ups in order to get a good basic level of upper body strength. Obviously pushups alone will only get you so far but the Perfect Pushups will definitely help get you there faster.

I absolutely could not be happier! The product took me a little bit to get used to but it didn’t take me long at all to fall in love with it. I immediately noticed relief in my wrists which has given me the opportunity to push myself to my full potential.

As a result, I’ve experienced an increase in chest size and strength.

I tried this system at a friend’s house and was immediately hooked. I can do roughly 40 regular push-ups at home. With this system I was dying after 20 and feeling a pump in parts of my chest and arms I hadn’t felt before. This motion is exactly the same as a front punch, with the fist rotating 90 degrees. A lot of varations are possible, and I can switch it up when my muscles get used to the motion. Great for supplementing weight training on your off days. I ordered one the same day when I got back. The pullup system is good too, but I didn’t have a good place to put it.

Well built and makes push-up more effective
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The product definitely allows you to do a push-up that is more effective in that with the way it raises you up higher, you have a greater potential range of motion now that you can lower your body more and do a “deeper” push-up. You should note that it does not force you to do the push-up correctly, you still need to ensure proper form; the advantage as I see it is through a greater range of motion. Although fairly light weight, the product seems to be well made and durable.

I bought these in hopes I would be able to do push-ups without the pain I experience in my wrists from regular ones. To my satisfaction, using the Perfect Pushup devices does just that. They also seem to do a better job at working my chest muscles compared to a standard pushup, I guess it deals with the twisting of the hands and you go up/down. Overall, I like this product and as it has me doing more pushups and it satisfied my need of finding a product that would allow me to perform pushups without pain in my wrists.

These are great! Follow the workout guide or use them at your own will, either way they work. A lot of people have trouble with their wrists while doing push-ups…I being one. These put your wrists into a position that causes no strain, but watch out because doing a perfect push-up is a tad bit harder than the old fashion way. You don’t need much to get your a$$ in shape…this will do the job for your chest and arms.

I had been meaning to do a review of the Perfect Pushup for awhile. I have had mine for quite some time now and have been using them regularly. I’m thoroughly satisfied with them and the Perfect Pushup is an excellent product, mainly due to its highly efficient design and ease of use. The Perfect Pushup is great because it makes pushup execrises much, much easier as well as more effective. The handlebar design —- I have found —- greatly reduces the strain on your wrists and elbows, which allows you to get the full, deep push-up form ordinary push-ups don’t allow. Works outstandingly on hardwood floors. The handlebars are tough, too, and made to last. The Navy Seal two-minute drill-inspired exercise routine is displayed on an easy to follow chart. Former U.S. Navy Seal and inventor of the Perfect Pushup Alden Mills is obviously a professional who takes pride in his product and his enthusiasm on the instructional dvd is catchy! The Perfect Pushup bars may take some getting used to at first for each individual user, but overall this is a great product and I would recommend it strongly for anyone wanting to improve their push-up technique and form and produce better results.

    Perfect Pushup – Original

I’d been thinking about buying this for a while, but I just couldn’t get myself to spend the money on it. When I got a $50 Amazon gift card for the holidays I decided to try it since there were quite a few positive reviews. Nevertheless I was quite skeptic, but I was pleasantly surprised. The push ups seem to be more intensive and there seems to be no stress on my wrists anymore.

This product is soo simple and useless that it begs for an honest review.

Being a push up fanatic , I know how quick and effective push ups are. And I find it best to do pushups on a flat surface or my finger tips, as opposed to gripping plastic bars.

I received this item as a christmas gift, used it twice, then noticed the impressions on my palms and stopped. My main gripe about this product is not thats it ineffective, but that it limits the amount of push ups that you can do, therefore compromising your workout.

Doing push ups in perfect form is great for targeting muscles, but you expend all of your energy therefore and cannot do enough to work your entire upper body.

In conclusion, I think this is an over hyped, un-nessicary work out device that is best left on the shelf.

    The Perfect Pushup
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I heard good things about the perfect pushup and wanted to buy them to see how good they really are. I have been working out for a long time. I also do regular pushups which are the best pushups. The perfect pushup works against your rotator cuff which isn’t good because I found out the hard way. I have a strained rotator cuff now and have to take it easy because of it. I have since heard from other people about getting the same type of injury. I wouldn’t recomend this product and tell people to stick to the old fashion way of doing pushups which have been around for a long time.

This is a great product. i was doing std push-ups three times a week(200reps/set-total of 2 sets). After trying this for the first time, it was kinda hard at first. The palm of my hands would start to hurt, squeezing on the handles. But i just put on a pair of weightlifting gloves. The exercises are a little harder to do with the PP when you’re first starting the reps. For me, i definitely felt that different muscle groups were being isolated. I try to do as many reps as fast as i can. After a brief rest, i would do a second set. 220 to 250 reps each set is what i can do. Early in the morning is the best time for me. The most reps that i’ve done is 300 push-ups. I’m over 50 years old and i don’t lift weights anymore as i don’t have the time to go to the gym. I do this on my carpet and it won’t slide or slip. With the PP, i won’t have to worry about hitting my chin on the carpet floor. It’s definitely a great gift for anyone, and it’s affordable. les

It is a good product and does what it is meant to do. I recently purchased it because I am trying to be more fit and push ups hurt my wrist. I’m not in the greatest of shape, and using it made the push ups much harder. It is perfect for someone who is fit and trying to do better, but if you are just starting to work out, it wouldn’t be the best product. A little more advanced then I thought.

Pointless equipment for people with too much money
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
There is, of course, absolutely no need to spend $20 or $30 dollars for a piece of exercise equipment that does nothing that a pair of hex dumbbells couldn’t do. The product is (like hex dumbbells) easier on your wrist than doing ground pushups. Of course, if your wrists are that sensitive, maybe your upper body is not ready for strength training.

The comment another reviewer made, to the effect that the increased height of the “Perfect Pushup” product lets you get closer to the ground, is also true of hex dumbbells or just anything stable you can put your hands on when doing pushups. But more important, it’s very bad advice. Hyper-extending your shoulder by doing deep pushups is great way to tear your rotator cuff or labrum — two critical shoulder ligaments — which do not heal on their own, or often even after surgery. Ever. Lifetime injury, waiting to happen. In short, the product is great if you have too much money and space in your house. If not, try a $10 pair of hex dumbbells, which have the alternative use of strength training for other muscle groups. Or, just do pushups on the grounds, which are free.

This is a great product, but to be honest with the readers and the future costumers or buyers at first i though i was going to regret the purchase for the reason that the “perfect push up” were made out of plastic. Rating:5 out of 5 stars

All i can say is WOW!

As a skeptical consumer, seeing this on tv, I thought was just another “get rich quick schemes” made by the company.

But I couldn’t have been anymore wrong! This is truly an amazing product, preventing injuries and strain. Also most importantly it works way more muscles then doing an ordinary push-up.

People question how you’d rotate your arms while doing push-ups. I questioned it too. However I’ve noticed and many other members of my family, that when you use it you naturally rotate your arms while doing a push-up

A must have! I can’t say it enough.

    Great Product
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Perfect Pushups are a great product that do precisely what the company claims, make pushups easy. The motion your arms and back goes through while doing the perfect pushup is so much more comfortable than doing a regular pushup. They also make pushups harder so not as many need to be done to get a great workout. However, the Perfect Pushup needs to be supplemented with other workouts because I only really feel my arms and shoulders being worked. The claim that they work your abs seems to be false to me and yes I do follow the correct form in the instructions. The only thing wrong with the Perfect Pushup that I have found is that mine have developed a drag that every once in awhile catches and messes up a pushup. Right now it is very minor and doesn’t happen often but I hope that it doesn’t get worse.

    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
An enormous improvement over regular pushups. If you use the perfect pushup correctly, you can definitely feel the difference. However, the build quality of the perfect pushups could be better. The handle is starting to separate from the base & on one of the perfect pushup apparatus there is resistance and friction whenever it tries to rotate. I’ll probably have to buy another pair, but aside from that its a good bang for your buck. Just make sure you use it regularly and if you can follow the instructions & workout schedule that comes with it.

This is a very quality purchase for anyone that is looking to buff up in a few months time. I have been using the Perfect Pushup for the past 7 weeks, and can already see the differences and feel the changes. It takes about 20 minutes to do a full workout, and after the 19 day period of the workout, which is set up for you, you max out, and then set your workout for the next 3 weeks. I have not even been to the weight room at all, I use this with a combination of dumbbells, abdominal crunches/sit-ups and aerobics.

    Overall a great purchase…

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Got a set of these at Dick’s Sporting Goods (Dec 2009) on sale for $20 (regularly $35).

I like them. The padded grips are easy on the hands, and gripping these handles (which rotate whichever direction your arm & wrist want them to go, while you’re pushing-up) puts a lot less stress on your fingers & wrists. Also, of course, since the grips are a few inches off the ground, it allows you to do “deeper” push-ups, if you want.

They’re not what I’d call “industrial quality”, but plenty sturdy for home use, imho.

I HAVE BEEN AN ADVOCATE OF PUSH-UPS FOR MANY YEARS AND CONSIDER MYSELF AN EXPERT IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND PRACTICE OF PUSH-UPS. THE IDEA OF THIS DEVICE IS INTERESTING BUT FLAWED IN SOME WAYS TO ME.THE FIRST THING IS THE LOOSE MOVEMENT OF THE DEVICE DOES NOT ALLOW FOR A NOVICE TO FEEL STABLE WHEN THEY FIRST GRASP THE CLAMPS, I ALSO IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT THEY SAT TOO LOW ON THE FLOOR, THE BASE SHOULD BE A LITTLE HIGHER SO THE PERSON CAN START COMFORTABLE OVER THE CLAMPS. ALSO MY HANDS ARE LARGE FROM DOING PUSH-UPS FOR MANY YEARS AND THESE HANDLES STILL TASKED MY ABILITY TO GRIP THE HANDLES.IF THE INVENTORS ADDED A LOCK ON THE SWIVEL OF THE CLAMPS I COULD GET MORE USE OUT OF DIFFERENT POSITIONS FOR MY PUSH-UPS.GOOD CONCEPT BUT NOT APPLIED TO THE MAXIMUM STRENGTH YOU CAN GET OUT OF PUSH-UPS.

    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
These rotating hand holds make it much easier on your shoulders when doing push ups, but increase the intensity on the chest. This is the desired effect, working the chest harder while protecting the shoulders and elbows. They are also small enough to pack in a suitcase or stash in the car for working out while traveling.

    Great form training!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have only owned/used this product for a week. In the military, push-ups are a major indicator of strength. I have always struggled with push-ups, and while I cannot yet say these tools have made me capable of doing more yet (only one week of use, remember), they have helped raise my fitness score by allowing me to FEEL what a proper push-up should be, in turn raising my score on push-ups due to not having push-ups go uncounted for poor form. Form is significant in improving strength and ability, and with these, you can develop great form in no time.

The Perfect Pushup is very comfortable on the wrists versus regular push-ups and allows for most of the variations of push-ups that people like to do (Elevated, wide, close).

I will update this review with results once I have used these for some period of time. However, initial impressions are great, and I highly recommend this workout tool.

    Review after 6 months usage
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I started a push-up routine with these after purchasing them 6 months ago. They seemed well made and rotated with ball-bearing precision. I started with sets of 10, which was a surprise for me as I can normally do 100 in a row from the floor. These pad type devices force much better form and are easier on the wrists than flat-hand push-ups or martial-arts knuckled fist push-ups. After a few weeks, they really improve arm, chest, and shoulder strength and muscle development.

In 6 months, I am able to do sets of 50 with 4 reps daily, M-F with 10 reps on Sat. in addition to my other parts of my program including Bow-Flex and the Iron Gym pull-up bar (now that is hard). My only complaint is that after 6 months of continuous use (admittedly heavy @ 1500 push-ups per week) one of the pads is grinding a bit. Not enough to disable the equipment, but it is a bit of a pain. I will try a little WD-40, but if that doesn’t help, I can buy new ones for not much money. I can prolly pickup a set on eBay for little or nothing from someone who thought they would get instant results painlessly while scarfing down fast-food. Great product.

Nice Small Investment for the Long Run
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’ve had the perfect pushup for only 4 days. I am not a body builder. To the contrary, I am more like one of those gadget guys that are always constantly doing stuff in front of computers or on their blackberries.

Is the perfect pushup worth all the hype? Probably not. However, I can definitely feel more soreness on my chest and bicep muscles. The added height and rotation all add up to a more thorough workout for the entire upper body. I usually couldn’t exercise my chest muscles as much as I wanted to with the conventional pushups, but with this I can. I have to admit it is much harder than it looks on TV, I can only do 1/3 the number of normal pushups on this (doesn’t really help with confidence, does it?). It took me a while to get the hang of the rotating motion. I hope I can rotate slower and smoother when I’m more used to it.

It is 30 bucks well spent for my light exercise routine. I would recommend it to my friends.

    Trust me, buy it
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was always skeptical about products like this, but once I started to use my friend’s set, I had to buy my own. I will tell you right now, I am no “buff” guy. I can knock out a good set of 80 pushups straight, no problem, but I could only perform 30 perfect Perfect Pushups. The reason is because I never trained my arms or shoulders that well. I only do two upper body workouts: Pushups and Pull-ups. Once I completed my 17-day routine (included with my purchase), I immediately noticed a difference in my appearance.

If you have little time to dedicate to exercise, like myself, then get this product to save your much needed time. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

This set of equipment does not give you a full-body workout, even though pushups are among the best exercises to do. If you want to work out every part of your body, you need to perform multiple types of exercises.

One last thing: If your shoulders or wrists hurt, then you are not doing a correct pushup. The only way to get injured on this is by not doing them correctly.

They do what they are supposed to, they seem sturdy, and they make pushups a lot HARDER aka MORE EFFECTIVE! Much better than the plain handles I had before these, my only complaint is that they do not work well on carpet (probably very flat hard industrial carpet would work well). I still use them in my carpeted home gym, but they do not lay 100% flat, and you can feel the carpet fibers getting pinched a little decreasing the smoothness of the turning action. I think they are still a great product and they’re fun to use which makes you work out more!

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Kinesthetically intuitive – this is a pushup game-changer. I don’t know how many thousands of pushups I did in my life (ever since that Soviet Army bootcamp sergent of mine told me to hit the mud and forget my name) but it never dawned on me that something as basic as a push-up could be improved upon. Sure, I’ve did push-ups on fists, one-arm push-ups, on the backs of parallel chairs (at a wedding, tearing the back of my tuxedo*), with a 45 plate on my back, with a cigarrette in my mouth**, on a walker in a Goodwill store*** – but to rotate the Earth underneath me – that’s on the order of a Kopernicus/Galilelo type of engineering insight.

Seriously, this is a great, endurable, attractive, zero-installation (just kidding) piece of exercise equipment. Obviously portable and obviously fun. Spice up your push-ups. Isolate that “trice.” Spare yourself elbow pain. Hit that chest. And feel the burn… Let’s face it: as we chase more and more interesting exercise equipment, there’s something to be said about the return to the basics – the push-ups, the pull-ups, and, for this Russian, the kettle balls (“giri,” as we call’em back at home).

Here’s a suggestion to the designer, however: the only way, it seems, to make the perfect push-up even better is to design it with some kind of screw-on extension block so that the wrist stations could be lifted up/raised up, say, an inch at a time, for additional depth of the deep, to get a better load on the chest.

But in the absence of this engineering improvement, you can do what my sergent had us do: dig a narrow ditch and let your mug drop down into the ground. Or (and you won’t find this in the product instructions although this is a classic pushup fine-tunement) you can turn your head to the side as you drop down to reduce that push-up clearance by a couple of inches (by getting your chin out of the way of your pushup). Remember to alternate

    *just kidding

    **still kidding

    **true

I heard amazing things about this product, so I decided to try it out. The perfect pushup definitely works a different part of your muscles than you normally do during a regular pushup, my only concern comes in that I am not sure how much that is worth.

The reason this gets four stars is because I have gotten several compliments in a short period of time on my chest, which makes me think that something is going right with this device. The reason this does not get five stars is simply that it does not seem to be working my muscles extraordinarily hard.

Overall, the results (e.g. other people’s opinions) have been amazing for a very small investment. If you are trying to get into push-up shape initially, and can only do 5-25 pushups right now, this is probably a phenomenal buy.

    Enjoy!

    A start from scratch review…
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
So why did I purchase the perfect pushup? As a college student, it’s hard to find the time to hit the gym, even harder to find the cash. Not to mention I have close to no experience lifting weights, so I prefer to embarrass myself in the privacy of my own apartment. On a side note, I have an extreme case of pectus excavatum, which I use as a sort of excuse to deem myself unfit to work out in public. I find that when I go to the gym( I used to go everyday about 5 years ago) I try to lift as much as I possibly can, while not focusing on the target muscles. With pectus excavatum this made it impossible for me to work my chest out, since my arms dominated the workout. I found my bench increased while going to the gym, but my chest had no improvements at all.

First thoughts? These things are actually a much larger size than they appear in the picture. Or it could possibly be that I’m a lot smaller than the model. They seem to be of excellent quality, or at least have exceeded my expectations thus far. What I really needed to get me going was a workout program, and perfect pushup includes both a chart and dvd. I find most people just need that push to start and continue working out, because the mind tends to quit before the body.

First week in following provided workout plan: What’s great about this product is they designed a progressive program that everyone can do. What I mean to say is that they create a plan that adapts to everyone’s individual strength. I admit that I had to start on the lowest level (which is doing pushups on your knees), but everyone has to start somewhere right? The motions seem easy enough to follow.

Fifth week: So I’ve almost completed the entire provided workout cycle twice, but I have seen incredible improvements. Whether it is due to my technique improving or my strength, I am happy with my results so far. I have tripled the amount of pushups I can do with the product, but what I am most proud of is my chest appears to be getting larger. My pecs seem to be bridging the gap (filling the hole in my chest).

Overall? I bought this product in hopes that it would increase my size and strength. It has done both. What more is there to say?

No need for deliberate twisting motion
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is something I wish I had invented, though I might have made it all metal. But apparently, the load-bearing portion at any given time is not the weak part of the plastic, and they do feel sturdy.

Regarding the title of this review, I just let my wrists move slightly in a natural way and these act as a shock absorber. Just a small amount of motion feels ergonomically fine. Much better than rigid models.

I think people are wasting energy if they force themselves to do 90 degree twists just because these allow it. I can see doing that to work different muscles, but not as the sole purpose for buying these.

The grips are also very comfortable; not like thin foam tubes over metal bars. So far so good, and I hope the plastic remains sturdy. Plastic is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

I’ve been using Perfect Pushup for about two weeks now and I absolutely love it! When I first started using it, I could barely do 5 pushups without using my knees; Now after two weeks of sticking to the workout schedule, I can do a complete set (40-50 pushups)! It’s only been two weeks but I can already feel a difference in my upper body strength! I highly recommend this product..Remember, if you buy it, stick to the workout schedule, you will be amazed at the increase in your upper body strength within a couple of weeks!

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
These are great quality. The grips are comfortable and actually easier on your wrists than normal pushups. The ball bearings still work smoothly and silently many months later. Best of all, even though I do not use these as much as I should or would like to, they really do get results in a natural way without using weights. I’ve always been able to do a good amount of pushups, but these really help tone your shoulders. Especially until you get used to the motion, they are also quite a work out (way more than doing normal push-ups). I highly recommend these.

These things are terrific. I’ve been using them a month. Can do 45 straight push ups already. I am seeing improvement in my upper body. The motion you get with these are wide-ranging. I also appreciate that the handles are thicker and studier than other similar push up grips. But these are in a class of their own. Get them and you’ll be glad that you did.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I just started exercising again and after two months of using the perfect pushup every other day I notice a difference. The perfect pushup makes doing pushups interesting for me. I focus more on the range of motion and doing pushups properly.

It’s a bit expensive compared to free pushups, but I think it was worth it. Quality of build is great. The two parts feel sturdy and will last me a long time. The glide/bearings move smooth and don’t make any noise. I’d recommend the perfect pushup.

Great variation on an already proven excercise
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’ve had this product for a year or so and it has been great. With regular push-ups (in decent shape) I can do 25-30 before I start to feel it in my muscles. With this, 10 or so has my muscles starting to burn. I usually do it with my feet propped up about 2 or so feet on a coffee table which really cranks up the intensity.

The only reason I give it a 4 out of a 5 is the construction of it. If you place too much pressure on the thing unevenly, the product stops rotating freely. Just wish it was made of metal so it doesn’t flex as much when using it.

I’ve had this product since it was released several years ago. It works quite well, it is not as good as push-up handles that you bolt to the floor, but for 30$, they have been very useful, I gained about an inch to my arms in a month using them in conjunction with chin-ups.

Potential ulnar nerve issues but otherwise an excellent exercise.
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I can’t add much to the already positive reviews except to say that these are the single best exercise I have ever done. The exercise program is very simple to follow and the results (increased strength, endurance and muscle definition) are noticeable right away.

I had a bout of ‘frozen shoulder’ about a year prior to using these. While I feel a small amount of shoulder pain sometimes following the workouts, I don’t think any damage is being done. On the contrary, my shoulder muscles are getting stronger and I have good range of motion.

The only other physical issue is occasional ulnar nerve injury. The twisting motion can lead to the ulnar nerve being rubbed as it pops around bony parts of the elbow. When this happens, the pinky side of the arm and hand can go numb. This happened to me at the beginning and lasted for about 24 hours. I still experience minimal to mild numbness but it is temporary and relieved by keeping the affected arm straight for some time.

I have used these for about 2 months and am very pleased. I took them on vacation so I wouldn’t interrupt the program and I plan to continue indefinitely.

[I even have my wife hooked on using it--you know how women always say they wish they had better upper body strength...well, this tool helps (although she does say that the grips are a tad big for women's hands)!] I don’t think one needs the DVDs as the exercise insert gives enough variations to get you where you’re going.

Its amazing how something so simple can be so effective. The Perfect Pushup really doesn’t change the way you do pushups, it more makes you do them more effectively. You can’t cheat as easily with this, and it forces you to use the right muscles. I started adding pushups using the Perfect Pushup to the end of my workout and I definitely felt my muscles working hard to balance myself. I don’t think its the “answer” to a bigger chest or stronger arms, but its definitely an added plus to anyone’s normal workout regiment.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Harder to do more reps than normal pushups (a good thing) and contribute to better form due to need to exert more control during rotation. Also the aspect of the chest going lower in the down motion seems to add difficulty.

Though I am over sixty, I have exercised most of my life and appreciate these. Someone with little or no conditioning might find them too hard to begin with but definitely will be good as you progress.

Review actually provided by Stephen Andrew Lynch, this was a gift for him:

Perfect pushups give you a MUCH better workout when doing pushups. Also, they make it very difficult to injure your tendones, etc. due to the natural rotation’s tendency to spread the weight across multiple points on the arms. Works more muscle groups. Only complaint: the grips can be a bit hard on the hands after a while.

I am not normally a person who exercises at home, but some days, like when I am traveling, I’m just not able to go to the gym. Perfect Pushups are a great solution. Easy to get a good workout in, without going anywhere. Makes an ordinary pushup something that really works to build muscle and the design is easy on your wrists, so you can do more than normal. Also great for other body weight exercises, such as dips.

Like the workout that comes with it. Also enjoyed the cards, which you can buy.

I got these a few months ago and am extremely happy with the results. I have been gonig to the gym for about 3 years, but only started training heavily about a year ago. I’m 21, 6’2 and weigh 175 (im not huge) so i can definitely say that when i take a month or so off of lifting I can definitely feel it when i get back into it.

I ended up needing some stitches in one of my hands and messing up my knuckle quite a bit which ruined my time at the gym for over a month. The perfect pushup ended up being my start up back into a gym like experience, and the start up is NEVER fun. After about 3 weeks of perfect pushup and situps I got back to the gym and was easily able to bench the same amount i was able to before my time away! That alone was worth the purchase. The perfect pushup is a great workout for your arms and chest, you just have to keep at it.. I now do these on my days off from the gym (ie every other day) and have seen a substantial increase in my endurance and progress. I would strongly suggest this product to anyone that wants a low profile home workout that will give you great results after all, how hard is it to take 10 minutes out of your day for five workouts?

I work on a tugboat were excersize equipment is limited so I am only able to workout using the basics, like pushups, pullups, etc. A guy on the boat had these and while I thought this was just another info-mercial gimmick i gave it a try. After the first time I used these, my whole arm, abs, and sides were sore, which told me these things really work a lot of muscles. After 2-weeks of using these i saw more results than doing the standard pushup. As soon as I got home I went out and bought me my own pair. I love these things. Highly Recommended.

I got this product as a gift. The twisting motion does help you work out the right muscles. It’s pretty neat. And the grips easily collapse for traveling.

However, the craftsmanship is not high quality. It’s not worth more than $15 tops. One grip broke just after 2 weeks of use! I’m not a heavy guy at all. And I didn’t drop it or knock it around. The lower plate just came off! And since it only comes is pairs, I’ll have to buy a new set now.

Solid product – handles a little too big

I started on a push ups program and after two weeks I purchased a set of these handles hoping to get better results.

    Pros

    —-

    1. The handles are well made. Should last for years.

    2. The handles make push ups harder, in a good way. Definitely feel it more after a session with these handles.

    Cons

    —-

    1. Grips are too large for my hands. I’m 5’11″ with average size hands and after two weeks with these handles I started feeling a slight pain in the palm of my hands. These handles would be perfect with smaller grips.

Good, but Push-up Bars Give better Range of Motion
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
These were given to me as a gift. Although I use them from time to time as a break form other routines (and I will continue to use them), I honestly don’t find them that helpful for me. I’ve used push up bars at half the price (see my review at GoFit Push-Up Bars) for a number of years and still swear by them. I prefer bars at home and at the gym because they lift your body somewhat (not a lot) higher off the ground. Thus, you get a deeper “dip” on the down-stroke which provides greater range of motion and a fuller stretch in your upper chest muscles and to some extent your front delts. This greater range of motion is more pronounced with bars if you’re doing push-ups with your feet on a raised surface or on a stability ball. (I’ve tried it both with bars and Perfect Push-ups.) For me, the “swivel” action of the Perfect Push-up disks doesn’t make that much difference in easing any strain, if any, on the wrists or in recruiting more muscles to work the chest and tris. I agree with the reviewer who said if you can do 20 reps, you need to move on to something more challenging if you’re looking to develop muscle mass – for example, try doing multiple sets to failure with your hands in different positions or widths (e.g., wide [hands at 90 degrees to your body], 45 degree angle, close, or neutral [parallel to your body]. One thing you cannot do with either Perfect Push-ups *or* push-up bars is really work your tris with an ultra-narrow hands position (where they’re side by side) – you still need to get down and dirty on the floor for that.

I suspect this product works better for folks who find the wrist pressure or extended range of motion created push-up by bars to be uncomfortable or painful. In any case, I would suggest that if you’re going to make push-ups a regular part of of your overall fitness routine, try both bars and the Perfect Push-up product and see which system you like better. You’ll probably be able to tell which one suits your comfort needs after a couple of sets. What helps *YOU* get fit in a way that is comfortable for you and is something you’ll stick with should be your defining criteria in making the purchase.

The Perfect Pushup really works you hard. I could drop and do 30-40 pushups without the handles but it killed my wrists. Excellent for Abs too
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
In addition to being a great solution for pushups, I have found that the “Mountain Climber” exercise described in the booklet that came along with the handles is indeed a very intense Ab workout with an aerobic component. It takes a bit of practice to master the Mountain Climber technique for full effect but well worth it. Complementary to other types of Ab exercises (e.g. crunches on an exercise ball) and I’ve noticed significant tightening of all major Ab regions (upper, lower, obliques) by doing this exercise once daily for three weeks (10 reps on a 4 count). Again, be sure to carefully practice the technique for maximum effect without placing undue strain on the back.

Product does deliver results. Deeper push-ups with less wrist fatigue are always a plus. One piece construction, ready to use out of the box. Delivered in a timely manner. Appears durable for a serious home gym inventory. Recommended for purchase.

    Use it often, but…

One of the units developed a scraping sound during use. Attempted to contact Perfect Pushup by email, but no response. Will try by phone. Don’t know if I’ll be getting the runaround, otherwise a good product.

Not I’m not giving you a guilt trip or anything….yes, YOU, the one with the orange cheetos ring around his mouth…but didn’t you swear up and down that you were going to get back in shape starting January 1, 2009?

The challenge you might be having – besides buttoning your pants – is that you don’t have the “right equipment”.

    Wow.

    That’s pathetic.

No, not the fact that you’re drinking a milkshake made of beer, a polish sausage, a brownie and a banana but that you are giving a very lame excuse as to why you’re not working out. Why don’t you just be honest with yourself and just admit that you don’t like exercise because you know what, no one likes exercise…people like the results of exercise…but as far as getting out of bed an hour or two earlier than usual and driving to the gym and competing for the equipment with Mr. Bald Tattoed Dude and Miss Silicone Implants, nobody really likes going to workout. Well, there are a few, but there not from around here…no, silly, not the US…this world…

I do belong to a gym and I have been training now for the last 25+ years of my life and I still have those days where I just wish I could stay home and do my workout.

That’s why I was as pleased as punch in a black kettled calling itself a pot when I got these badboys for Christmas. My wife also gave me some lingerie – but it didn’t fit so I guess I gotta go take it back – wait a minute…

SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE ONE WEARING IT?

Wow…that explains a lot….thanks, man, I owe you one. I was wondering why people were staring at me when I was mowing the lawn in a leopard print bustier.

But I love these things because you really do get a great upper body workout with them and I also got the Perfect Pullup (which is also great) and what I do is I do a set of 15 reps of the pushup and then I immediately do a set of 12 reps of the chin up. Can’t do that much? That’s okay, don’t cry…you’ll get your Twinkies all soggy and nobody likes wet Hostess goods…just do what you can and don’t beat yourself up if you’re not the “god” that you were in High School. Believe me, it was a crushing blow for me, too, when the 28″ waist I had for years began to look like I was wearing a fanny pack inside my shirts.

Dude, you’re not hopeless. You never were. You can get in shape again. Just get these things and tell your mind that you mean business this time. I made a plan that even if I was going to go to the gym, I was going to do a few sets of the Perfect Pushup and a few sets of the Perfect Pullup at least 3x aweek so I put them by my side of the bed as a reminder.

    Bad action plan, man.

On January 1, 2009 I tripped over them and broke my ankle.

Now I sit here at the computer in a garter belt writing reviews for exercise equipment.I plan on making my “comeback” on Ground Hog Day…but definitely Lincoln’s Birthday…if not Easter…

Okay, cancel your order for Jessica Hahn’s Celebrity Centerfold…she, along with you, was “hot” back then, but we’re nine years into the new century and it’s time to make 2009 the year where you prove all the naysayers wrong.

C’mon, they’re only $30 bucks…you spent more on that at the drive-through yesterday.

Well, I gotta go. It’s Taco Tuesday at Del Taco.

    Peace & Blessings, dudes…

I have a right wrist that does not bend due to a motorcycle accident. I have a hard time with push ups and getting up off the floor. This product solves my push up problem . it works perfectly and is the right size of grip. I DO recommend this. It is also a more NATURAL way to do a pushup

I just got these and have found it kind of hard to do so far. But I guess that means they work? Anyway, will continue to try them and will update later.

    Good for the right people
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This product is great for the right people. It’s construction quality is fairly good, and it works as advertised. Extra strong caution to anyone with any type of shoulder injury though. Using this product in the wide grip stance will eat your rotator cuff alive if there is any weakness at all. I used this product for about two months and noticed increased sensitivity in my shoulder as time went on. I now have difficulty lifting a gallon of milk into the fridge with my left arm because of the pain generated. I can’t guarantee that the perfect pushup is responsible because my shoulder was never perfect, but it was the only excercise that I did recently where I felt any strain in my shoulder.

So, if your shoulders are strong and you have no rotator cuff issues…it’s fine. If you buy it, don’t get to caught up in doing the “wide grip” position until you are certain that it isn’t putting undue strain on you.

    Really is Perfect

I’ve been doing pushups every morning for years and since I purchased the perfect pushups, I’ve noticed my arms and hands are even stronger. Who would have thought not having the hands flat on the ground would be better! Now I want the portable ones that fold down!

The Perfect Pushup – Nothing Else To Say
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Let me start off by saying I am no body builder and have no interest in becoming one, but I did however want to shorten my indoor workout routine and thought I’d give these a shot since Amazon was having a sale.

If you read the chart or watch the DVD provided you will learn the proper way to use these so I won’t go into that. The thing that sells this to my friends is that you will most likely do around half your maximum reps of normal push-ups as you would with the Perfect Pushup. Also, you get a whole upper body workout throughout the week if you stick to the chart provided.

My girlfriend also gave it a try and realized how intense it was compared to a normal push-up. They have a suggested method of doing the perfect pushups from your knees for women, which you can still feel your muscle’s working – this is her preferred method. Alternatively, you can raise and rest your feet on a higher surface so you will be at an incline to have more strenuous perfect pushups.

I recommend this to all of my friends and put them to the Perfect Pushup Test. I have never seen anybody walk away dissatisfied.

My son saw this on tv and paid for it with his first lawn money earnings. That was over a year ago. It was exactly what he expected and the whole family uses it and it works great still. The only problem was the shipping was messed up. We did’nt receive it the first time it was sent. But the company did send another with no problem.

    Works really well

I bought these a while ago and just recently got back into using them again and I love them. For me it makes doing the pushups easier and you can definitely feel it the next day. You can tell that it works other parts than just your arms.
